  • In this paper we propose a new method that can be estimation the spectral power distribution of the light source from three-band images. the light source is estimated by dividing the reflected spectral power distribution of the maximum achromatic region(L(λ)) by the corresponding surface reflectance(Ο(λ)). In order to obtain reflected spectral power distribution of the maximum achromatic region from three-bend images, a modified gray world assumption algorithm is adapted. And the maximum surface reflectance is estimated using the principal component analysis method along with achromatic population. The achromatic population is created from a set of given Munsell color chips whose chroma vector is less than threshold. Cumulative contribution ratio of principal components from the first to the third for classified achromatic population was about 99.75%. The reconstruction of illumination spectral power distribution by using achromatic population and three-band digital images captured under various light source was examined, and evaluated by RMSE between the original and reconstructed illumination spectral power distribution. • Wind turbulence data is required for engineering calculations of gust speeds, mean and fluctuating loading. Spectral densities are required as input data for methods used in assessing dynamic response. This study is concerned with the estimation of daily instantaneous maximum wind velocity in the meteorological major cities (selected each 6 points) during the yearly 1987-2016.12.1. The purpose of this paper is to present the power spectral densities of the daily instantaneous maximum wind velocity. In the processes of analysis, used observations data obtained at Korea Meteorological Adminstration(KMA), it is assumed as a random processes. From the analysis results, in the paper estimated power spectral densities function(Blunt model) shows a very closed with von Karman and Solari's spectrum models.

  • A spectral analysis and numerical simulation are employed to assess the effects of the stylus tip radius on measuring surface profiles. Original profiles with fractal spectral densities are generated and then are numerically traced with circular tipped stylus. Instead of their spectral densities, the accumulative power spectrums of traced profiles are analyzed. It is shown that the minimum wavelength of traced profile relates directly to the radius r of the stylus tip and the root-mean-square (rms) roughness ${\sigma}_o$ of original profile. From this accumulation spectral analysis, a formula is developed to estimate the minimum wavelength of traced profile. By using the concept of the minimum wavelength, an appropriate stylus tip radius can be chosen for the given rms roughness ${\sigma}_o$ of the profile.

  • Coexistence analysis is extremely important in examining the possibility for spectrum sharing between orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based international mobile telecommunications (IMT)-Advanced and other wireless services. In this letter, a new closed form method is derived based on power spectral density analysis in order to analyze the coexistence of OFDM-based IMT-Advanced systems and broadcasting frequency modulation (FM) systems. The proposed method evaluates more exact interference power of IMT-Advanced systems in FM broadcasting systems than the advanced minimum coupling loss (A-MCL) method. Numerical results show that the interference power is 1.3 dB and 3 dB less than that obtained using the A-MCL method at cochannel and adjacent channel, respectively. This reduces the minimum separation distance between the two systems, which eventually saves spectrum resources.

  • Measurements of accelerometer levels transmitted from the floor in commercials truck shipments were carried out transportation of 300 Kg-load from Gyungbu Highway(Waegouan-Seoul) to 88 Highway(Gwangju-Daegu). Different characteristics were observed the values measured the vibration levels with directions in the two Highway's as a function of road condition and truck speed. The results showed that the vibration levels of the Gyungbu Highway is much higher than those of the 88 Highway. A following analysis on the obtained values was used to get the acceleration spectral density (ASD) and power spectral density (PSD). For the entire transit route, the results showed that the level of vibration to vertical direction was significant effects for damaging the products carried compared to other directions such as longitudinal and transverse. This paper provides an updated history of measured characteristics of vibration levels for highways using mainly in domestic area.

  • The regrowth of OQPSK power spectral sidelobes from AM/AM and AM/PM amplifier nonlinearity is analyzed. The time-domain expression for amplifier output shows how spectral re-growth will depend on the cubic coefficient of the Taylor's series of the amplifier nonlinearity as well as input amplitude ripple. Closed form spectrum calculations show that the spectral sidelobes produced by AM/PM take the same form as those produced by AM/AM. The rate of growth of AM/PM sidelobes is, however, not as great as for AM/AM.

  • High-speed flight vehicle have various cavities. The supersonic cavity flow is complicated due to vortices, flow separation and reattachment, shock and expansion waves. The general cavity flow phenomena include the formation and dissipation of vortices, which induce oscillation and noise. The oscillation and noise greatly affect flow control, chemical reaction, and heat transfer processes. The supersonic cavity' flow with high Reynolds number is characterized by the pressure oscillation due to turbulent shear layer, cavity geometry, and resonance phenomenon based on external flow conditions, The resonance phenomena can damage the structures around the cavity and negatively affect aerodynamic performance and stability. In the present study, we performed numerical analysis of cavities by applying the unsteady, compressible three dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) equations with the ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ turbulence model. The cavity model used for numerical calculation had a depth(D) of 15mm cavity aspect ratio(L/D) of 3, width to spanwise ratio(W/D) of 1.0 to 5.0. Based on the PSD(Power Spectral Density) and CSD(Cross Spectral Density) analysis of the pressure variation, the dominant frequency was analyized and compared with the results of Rossiter's Eq.

  • The change and periodicity of Korean winter temperature in the period 1979-2018 are investigated. It is shown that the winter temperature is on a long-term rise, with two regime shifts of winter temperature during 40 years. In addition, the decrease in cold days is confirmed along with the rise in temperature. Analysis of the periodicity of daily temperature in winter is carried out by means of power spectral analysis. Of the spectral peaks that are statistically significant, the most frequent detection exists on the time scale between 7 and 8 days. It is found that the number of significant periods have decreased since 2014, particularly no longer existent around the period of 7 day. The longer periods than 7 days gradually increase during 40 years, while the shorter periods show the tendency of decrease but recently rebound. Spectral analysis calculated from high/low-pass filtered daily temperature data also shows similar results.
