In the microgrid, inverters for energy storage system are generally constructed in a parallel structure because of capacity expandability, convenience of system maintenance, and reliability improvement. Parallel inverters are required to provide stable voltage to the critical load in PCC and to accurately share the current between each inverter. Furthermore, when islanding occurs, the inverters should change its operating mode from grid-connected mode to stand-alone mode. However, during clearing time and control mode change, the conventional control method has a negative impact on the critical load, that is, severe fluctuating voltage. In this study, a parallel operation control method is proposed. This method provides seamless mode transfer for the entire transition period, including clearing time and control mode change, and has accurate current sharing between each inverter. The proposed control method is validated through simulation and experiment.
This study proposes a performance improvement for parallel-connected thyristor dual converters using a circulating current with an unbalanced parallel operation compensator. The proposed control method determines a variable reference value for the voltage PI controller according to voltage error at firing angle control applied to a difference current control. This method uses circulating current control to maintain a stable voltage and excellent current response during parallel operation. The effectiveness of the proposed control is verified with a simulation and an experiment based on the comparison of the performance of the proposed control method with other conventional methods.
This paper proposes a method that distributes the load power and stores the regenerated energy for a hoist-load system using the supercapacitor, an energy storage device. The crane, which is a representative hoist-load system, operates in two modes. The first is the hoist-up mode in which the load container is lifted up: the maximum power is required at the end of acceleration. The second is the hoist-down mode in which the load container is lifted down; the regenerated energy is wasted by the resistor In this paper, the supercapacitor stores the regenerated energy in the hoist-down operation and supplies the peak power demand in the hoist-up operation. The same structure as the commercially available three-phase inverter is proposed as a bidirectional do-dc converter to charge and discharge the supercapacitor. A power control algorithm is proposed to optimize the load sharing between the generator and the supercapacitor. Using the proposed method, it is effected that the generator size can be cut down to one third of the original one; it leads to the reduction of the fuel consumption, noise and air pollution. Simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the Proposed method.
This paper proposes the 80-kW high-efficiency bidirectional hybrid SiC boost/buck converter using droop control for DC nano-grid. The proposed converter consists of four 20-kW modules to achieve fault tolerance, ease of thermal management, and reduced component stress. Each module is constructed as a cascaded structure of the two basic bi-directional converters, namely, interleaved boost and buck converters. A six-pack hybrid SiC intelligent power module (IPM) suitable for the proposed cascaded structure is adopted for high-efficiency and compactness. The proposed converter with hybrid switching method reduces the switching loss by minimizing switching of insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT). Each module control achieves smooth transfer from buck to boost operation and vice versa, since current controller switchover is not necessary. Furthermore, the proposed parallel control using DC droop with secondary control, enhances the current sharing accuracy while well regulating the DC bus voltage. A 20-kW prototype of the proposed converter has been developed and verified with experiments and indicates a 99.3% maximum efficiency and 98.8% rated efficiency.
An unified controller for emergency generator is presented to control AVR and Governor and l00kVA power conditioner. This controller is operated to compensate current harmonics and asymmetries caused by nonlinear load and unbalance loads. The power conditioner shapes the source current sinusoidal in phase with source voltage and allows the generator to maximum power even to the single phase load. Also this power conditioner allows that three phase generator synchronizes with single phase main source and load sharing. An l00kVA generator system was built and the unified controller is realized with DSP(TMS320C32PCMA). Experimental results for many load conditions are presented to verify the performance of the unified controller.
Generally, photovoltaic system is composed a number of solar cells array. so, virtual implementation module for solar cell array is needed Parallel connection each module for extract the power. A desirable characteristic of a parallel supply system is that individual converters share the load current equally and stably. The current sharing(CS) can be implemented using two approaches. The first one, known as a droop method, relies on the high output impedance of each converter. and The second approach, known as active current-sharing techniques. In this paper, analyze for better control logic of parallel connecting virtual implements of solar cell at using droop method.
A large power fuel cell generation system needs a parallel operation of de-de boost converter. Therefore, this paper proposed parallel operation algorithms of de-de boost converters for the large scale fuel cell generation system of 250[kW] and the operating principle along with the control method in detail. This paper uses a maximum current sharing method as a parallel operation method and also the phase shift full bridge de-de converter as a de-de boost converter. Simulation and experimental results on two prototype converter modules of 500W show that the parallel operation method can be applied to the 250[kW] power converter.
Interference in device-to-device (D2D) communication underlaying cellular network needs to be elaborately investigated because of channel sharing. The objective is to improve the quality of D2D communications while maintaining high performance for cellular users. In this paper, we solve the above problem by jointly considering channel allocation and power control using coalition formation game. Our cooperative game theoric approach allows to enhance network-wide performance. We design a merge-and-split algorithm to deal with the complexity of the combinatorial structure in coalition formation problem. The analytical and numerical results show that our algorithm converges to a stable point which achieves high network performance.
In this paper, a buck-boost type battery charger is developed for charging battery set with a lower voltage. This battery charger is configured by a rectifier circuit, an integrated boost/buck power converter and a switched capacitors circuit. A boost power converter and a buck power converter sharing a common power electronic switch are integrated to form the integrated boost/buck power converter. By controlling the common power electronic switch, the battery charger performs a hybrid constant-current/constant-voltage charging method and gets a high input power factor. Accordingly, both the power circuit and the control circuit of the developed battery charger are simplified. The switched capacitors circuit is applied to be the output of the boost converter and the input of the buck converter. The switched capacitors circuit can change its voltage according to the utility voltage so as to reduce the step-up voltage gain of the boost converter when the utility voltage is small. Hence, the power efficiency of a buck-boost type battery charger can be improved. Moreover, the step-down voltage gain of the buck power converter is reduced to increase the controllable range of the duty ratio for the common power electronic switch. A prototype is developed and tested to verify the performance of the proposed battery charger.
