Performance Analysis of 403.5MHz CMOS Ring Oscillator Implemented for Biomedical Implantable Device (생체 이식형 장치를 위해 구현된 403.5MHz CMOS 링 발진기의 성능 분석)

  • With the increasing advancement of VLSI technology, health care system is also developing to serve the humanity with better care. Therefore, biomedical implantable devices are one of the amazing important invention of scientist to collect data from the body cell for the diagnosis of diseases without any pain. This Biomedical implantable transceiver circuit has several important issues. Oscillator is one of them. For the design flexibility and complete transistor-based architecture ring oscillator is favorite to the oscillator circuit designer. This paper represents the design and analysis of the a 9-stage CMOS ring oscillator using cadence virtuoso tool in 180nm technology. It is also designed to generate the carrier signal of 403.5MHz frequency. Ring oscillator comprises of odd number of stages with a feedback circuit forming a closed loop. This circuit was designed with 9-stages of delay inverter and simulated for various parameters such as delay, phase noise or jitter and power consumption. The average power consumption for this oscillator is 9.32㎼ and average phase noise is only -86 dBc/Hz with the source voltage of 0.8827V.

Economic Analysis of Optical Communication Control System in High Voltage Magnetizer (고전압 착자기에서의 누전 사고 방지를 위한 광통신 제어시스템의 도입 방안과 경제성 분석)

  • Demand for high power motors is rapidly increasing as the 4th industry and convergence technology has recently emerged. In order to produce high-strength permanent magnets, the magnets used for magnetization have been increased from DC 300V in the 1970s to DC 2.5kV in the 2010s, Up to DC 10kV in the 2030s, It is expected that higher voltage will be used to magnetize. However, in the case of a magnetizer using an existing electric signal control device, it is necessary to use a control device with a high-voltage insulation function in case a high voltage used for magnetization is leaked to the control device. If a short circuit accident occurs, the controller must be shut down and serious problems such as excessive repair costs arise. In this study, a control system adopting optical communication method instead of electric signal control method is proposed to prevent leakage currents in high-voltage magnetizer. We design a transmitter(Tx) and a receiver(Rx) device for the optical communication control device and implemented a prototype connecting the optical cable. In order to demonstrate the utility of high-voltage magnetizer using the optical communication control device, we analyzed the initial cost and the yearly cost for the years to analyze the net present value. As a result, In the case of the low-voltage magnetizer, the electric signal control method cost less, As the operating voltage of the magnetizer becomes higher. It is confirmed that it takes less cost when the optical communication control device is used.

  • In recent years, embedded mobile systems have been expanding their application domains from embedded portable devices which only execute a specialized application such as MP3 player or digital camcoder to digital convergence devices which execute more complicated applications converged various functionalities such as video and audio play, digital dictionary, DMB, games, phone, etc. As it requires the increasing hardware performance such as more faster CPU and more larger RAM, display, disk size, it has brought about a corresponding increase in power consumption. However, coupled with relatively small gains in battery capacity over recent years, the importance of software architecture including intelligent power management has become paramount. In this paper, we have ported UbiFOSTM with energy saving techniques on the ARM9-based MBA2440 platform. For energy savings, we adapted the dynamic power management and the device power management schemes based on monitoring workload. Experimental results with some well-known applications show that proposed low power technique could save energy up to 24 %.

  • Image recognition technology is a technology that recognizes an image object by using the generated feature descriptor and generates object feature points and feature descriptors that can compensate for the shape of the object to be recognized based on artificial intelligence technology, environmental changes around the object, and the deterioration of recognition ability by object rotation. The purpose of the present invention is to implement a power management framework required to increase profits and minimize damage to livestock farmers by preventing accidents that may occur due to the improvement of efficiency of the use of livestock house power and overloading of electricity by integrating and managing a power fire management device installed for analyzing a complex environment of power consumption and fire occurrence in a smart safety livestock house, and to develop and disseminate a safe and optimized intelligent smart safety livestock house.

  • The DC characteristics of GaAS Gunn diode are investigated as a preliminary study on the planar grade gap injector GaAs Gunn diode which is the transferred electron device with high output power and dc-rf conversion efficiency. The Gunn devices we fabricated were confirmed to have the DC characteristics of negative differential resistance(NDR). We discussed the nature of the NDR effect, including the electron intervalley transfer; the NDR effect was examined for six different cathode radii.

  • The monitoring system for integrated management of on-site wastewater treatment plants(biofilter) was designed and its operation program was developed. In design process, the research on monitoring parameters which will be able to represent condition and operation of the pilot plants was accomplished, and these parameters came to reveal with ORP(Oxidation-Reduction Potential), water level, pump and power on/off. Proposed monitoring system is composed with measurement, control, communication and display device, and PCB(Prototype Circuit Boards) and microcontroller (PIC16F877) technique are applied to its design of control device for performing specific function. also, The operation program of PC setup is developed in order to provide a convenience to the manager.

  • ZigBee technology that is observed to radio network of low electric power with latest WPAN's IEEE 802.15 .4 technologies is evaluated as best technology for sensor network and digital home network construction. This need exclusive use application for monitoring, managing, controlling and organizing this nodes. However, these program has weaknesses that is hard to construct flexible system with Internet. This paper will use web server linked with gateway to manage sensor network that is consisted of ZigBee node and design system that manages ZigBee device with relative fast responsibility using AJAX web technology.

  • Along the era of "Internet of Things (IoT)" in which the physical objects can be connected to the Internet, a smart power management system is proposed in this paper. This system consists of two modules, an electrical outlet device embedding the Wi-Fi capabilities and a web server supporting the management as well as monitoring of power consumptions. Also, with the proposed system, a customer can easily check the status of power consumption and turn on/off the sockets through the developed mobile website. The proposed system is designed to avoid firewall or PC setting problems involving a user's inconvenience.

  • This paper provided a counter measures against the troubles and accidents that are likely to take place in the power plant using hydrogen gas as a coolant for the cooling system of the generator. Because of the extremely wide flammability limits of hydrogen in comparison to the other flammable gases, the safety measures against the hydrogen accidents is very important to ensure the normal operation of electric-power facility. This study's purpose was a presentation of standard model of safety management of hydrogen equipments in the coal firing power plant such as following items: 1) providing the technical prevention manual of the hydrogen explosions and hydrogen fires occurring in the cooling system of power generator; 2) the selection of explosion-proof equipments in terms of the risk level of operating environment; 3) the establishment of regulations and counter measures, such as the incorporation of gas leakage alarm device, for preventing the accidents from arising; 4) the establishment of safety management system to ensure the normal operation of the power plant.
