  • This paper present stabilization control of fixed speed wind generator by using variable speed permanent magnet wind generator in a wind farm connected with multi-machine power system. A novel direct-current based d-q vector control technique of back to back converter integrated with Fuzzy Logic Controller for optimal control configuration is proposed, in which both active and reactive powers delivered to a power grid system are controlled effectively. Simulation analyses have been performed using PSCAD/EMTDC. Simulation results show that the proposed control scheme is very effective to enhance the voltage stability of the wind farm during fault condition.

  • A maximum power point tracking(MPPT) converter, to enhance the converter efficiency is evaluated within the laboratory. The converter is controlled to track the maximum power point of the input photovoltaic(PV) source by varying the input and output parameter-conditions of irradiation, temperature, etc. The purpose of this paper is to develop a new maximum power point tracking(MPPT) using neural controller. Neural controller are applied to control of MPPT by boosting converter duty ratios compensation effect with 8 bit single chip 8051 microcontroller.

  • Many new electronic products are required to have a near unity power factor and a distortion free current input waveform. In this paper, single phase AC to DC Boost-Converter which is controlled with continuous conduction mode(CCM) is analyzed. Each parameter is determined for variable hysteresis current mode and real time simulation results showed high power factor possible. l(kW] boost converter was designed and constructed accordingly. Experimental results to load and parameter variations are well similar to the simulation results.

  • In this paper, we studied the development of the electronic ballast for 250W MH (Metal-Halide) lamps. We were able to improve the input power factor by using a PFC IC. To provide the lamp with the rated voltage required, we used the buck-type dc-dc converter. The stress of the switching devices in the inverter could be reduced by this method. To eliminate the acoustic resonance phenomena of MH lamps, the voltage of the lamp added the high frequency sine-wave to the low frequency square-wave by using the full bridge typed inverter. We have developed a simple igniter using the L and C elements. We could control the dimness of the lamp by varying the output voltage of the buck converter. The buck converter output voltage could be controlled by using a microprocessor.

  • A flyback converter that decreases ZVS resonant voltage by using ZVS capacitor is proposed. Because of high resonant voltage at ZVS convenient circuits use expensive devices of high power. The devices make the total price high. A circuit with ZVS capacitor is proposed to down the price. A practical converter can be constructed. Operation of the converter is analyzed and simulated. We compare experiment results with simulation results. We show that the system is identical with the simulated system.

  • This paper refers to fundamental investigations and simulations of conducted electromagnetic inference emissions produced by power electronic devices in a frequency range from 2 to 10 kHz. The emissions of different industrial power converters were measured and compared. The influence of different working conditions over the altitude of the EMI are represented. Simulations of the power converter system including the line impedance stabilisation network certify the measurements.

  • In order to match the voltages between high voltage battery stacks and low voltage super-capacitors with a high conversion efficiency in hybrid energy sources electric vehicles (HESEVs), a high ratio bidirectional DC-DC converter with a synchronous rectification H-Bridge is proposed in this paper. The principles of high ratio step-down and step-up operations are analyzed. In terms of the bidirectional characteristic of the H-Bridge, the bidirectional synchronous rectification (SR) operation is presented without any extra hardware. Then the SR power switches can achieve zero voltage switching (ZVS) turn-on and turn-off during dead time, and the power conversion efficiency is improved compared to that of the diode rectification (DR) operation, as well as the utilization of power switches. Experimental results show that the proposed converter can operate bidirectionally in the wide ratio range of 3~10, when the low voltage continuously varies between 15V and 50V. The maximum efficiencies are 94.1% in the Buck mode, and 93.6% in the Boost mode. In addition, the corresponding largest efficiency variations between SR and DR operations are 4.8% and 3.4%. This converter is suitable for use as a power interface between the battery stacks and super-capacitors in HESEVs.

  • This paper presents a new kind of digital control metal halide lamp electronic ballast. A zero-voltage-switch quasi-square-wave (ZVS-QSW) dual Buck converter is adopted here. In this paper, a digital control method is proposed to achieve ZVS for the converter. This ZVS can be realized during the whole working condition. Single-cycle-peak-current control is proposed to solve the problem of excessive inductor current during a low-frequency reversal transient. Power loop control is also realized and its consistency for different lamps is good. An AVR special microcontroller for a HID ballast is used to raise the control performance, and the low-frequency square-wave control method is adopted to avoid acoustic resonance. A 70W prototype was built in the laboratory. Experimental results show that the electronic ballast works reliably. Furthermore, the efficiency of the ballast can be higher than 92%.

  • This paper presents a mode transition method that applies frequency compensation technique of an LLC resonant converter for stable mode transition. LLC resonant converters used in various applications require high efficiency and high power density. However, because of circuit property, a wider voltage gain range equates to a greater circuit loss, so maintaining high efficiency at all voltage gain ranges is difficult. In this case, full bridge-half bridge mode transition method can be used, which maintains high efficiency even in a wide voltage gain range. However, this method causes damage to the circuit through overcurrent by the mode transition. This study analyzes the cause of the problem and proposes a mode transition method that applies frequency compensation technique to solve the problem. The proposed method verifies the stable transition through simulation analysis and experimental results.
