중유화력발전소에서 바이오연료 혼합연소가 연료소비량에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Fuel Mixing Ratio on Fuel Consumption in a Oil Fired Power Plant)

  • 기존 벙커C유에 바이오중유 혼합비율을 50%, 80% 및 100%로 변화시키면서, 발전기 출력 320 MW, 380 MW 일 때 각각의 시간당 연료소비량을 측정하였다. 벙커C유 전소일 때의 시간당 연료소비량과 비교한 결과 발전기 출력 320 MW에서 바이오중유 혼합비율이 50%부터 100%까지 높아짐에 따라 시간당 연료소비량이 11.0%에서 20.4%까지 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 발전기 출력 380 MW에서는 바이오중유 혼합비율이 50%부터 100%까지 높아짐에 따라 시간당 연료소비량이 12.0%에서 21.1%까지 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 더 나아가 측정된 시간당 연료소비량과 발전기 출력, 연료의 고위발열량을 이용하여 발전효율을 산출하였고, 발전기 출력 320 MW, 380 MW에서 모두 바이오중유 혼합비율이 50%부터 100%까지 높아지면서 발전효율은 감소함을 확인하였다.

바이오알코올 혼합연료의 엔진오일 희석특성에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Characteristics of Engine Oil Diluted by a Bio-Alcohol Mixture Fuel)

  • Engine oil plays an important role in the mechanical lubrication and cooling of a vehicle engine. Recently, engine development has focused on the adoption of gasoline direct injection (GDI) and turbocharging methodology to achieve high-power and high-speed performance. However, oil dilution is a problem for GDI engines. Oil dilution occurs owing to high-pressure fuel injection into the combustion chamber when the engine is cold. The chemical components of engine oil are currently developed to accommodate gasoline fuel; however, bio-alcohol mixtures have become a recent trend in fuel development. Bio-alcohol fuels are alternatives to fossil fuels that can reduce vehicle emissions levels and greenhouse gas pollution. Therefore, the chemical components of engine oil should be improved to accommodate bio-alcohol fuels. This study employs a 2.0 L turbo-gas direct injection (T-GDI) engine in an experiment that dilutes oil with fuel. The experiment utilizes a variety of fuels, including sub-octane gasoline fuel (E0) and a bio-alcohol fuel mixture (Ethanol E3~E7). The results show that the lowest amount of oil dilution occurs when using E3 fuel. Analyzing the diluted engine oil by measuring density and moisture with respect to kinematic viscosity shows that the lowest values of these parameters occur when testing E3 fuel. The reason is confirmed to influence the vapor pressure of the low concentration bio-alcohol-fuel mixture.

바이오에멀젼 연료의 연소 특성 (Combustion Characteristics of Bio Emulsion Fuel)

  • 본 연구에서는 바이오매스로서 코코넛 폐기물을 $600^{\circ}C$에서 열분해하여 생성된 수상오일(water soluble oil)을 얻었다. 선박유로 사용되는 MDO(Marine Diesel Oil)와 바이오매스로서 코코넛 폐기물을 열분해하여 생성된 수상오일을 MDO에 15~20% 까지 혼합 후 유화시켜 제조된 바이오에멀젼 연료의 연소 특성에 대하여 연구 하였다. 엔진 배출가스 및 온도, 출력을 측정하기 위하여 엔진 다이나모메터를 사용하였다. 바이오에멀젼 연료는 수분이 함유되어 있어서 연소실내의 기화잠열을 빼앗아가 배출가스의 온도를 낮춰주는 것으로 나타났다. 바이오에멀젼 연료에 함유된 수분이 연소실내에서 미세폭발을 일으켜 연료를 잘게 쪼개어 주어 매연을 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 바이오에멀젼 연료의 사용으로 연소실내의 온도 감소는 질소산화물 배출을 저감하는 것으로 나타났다. 바이오오일 함유량이 증가 하면 수분함량도 증가하여 전체 발열량이 줄어들게 된다. 따라서 출력이 바이오에멀젼 연료 사용량에 비례하여 감소하는 특성을 나타내었다. 선박용 연료로 사용되는 중질유는 매연과 질소산화물을 많이 배출한다. 선박용 연료로 바이오에멀젼 연료를 사용하면 매연과 질소산화물 배출을 줄여줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • Since bio-diesel oil has a merit that it satisfies both demand of substitution for fossil fuel and reduction in carbon dioxide emission, it is widely used in diesel engines by blending in gas oil in small quantity. It is needed to reduce in NOx emission in some way or others if blending ratio of bio-diesel oil is going to increase, because it is demerit that bio-diesel oil emits more NOx emission than gas oil. In this study, it was accomplished to optimize 3 factors what effect on NOx emission as blending ratio of bio-diesel oil, injection timing and common rail pressure with an introduction of a design of experiments, in order to minimize a number of tests. It was cleared that to introduce the design of experiments was very available in NOx optimization.

미강유적용 소형 디젤기관의 타당성 검증 및 성능실험에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Feasibility Test & the Performance Experiment of Small Type Diesel Engine using the an Rice-bran oil)

  • Bio-diesel oil is a great possibility to solve the pollution problem caused by the exhaust gas from diesel engine vehicles. Recently the use of bio-oils in disel engines has received considerable attention to the forseeable depletion of world oil supplies. So, Bio-diesel oil has been attracted with attentions as an alternative and clean energy source. The objective of this paper is to experimentally investigate the characteristic of performance using light oil, rice-bran oil, heated rice-bran oil, rice-bran oil treated with ultrasonic energy. We included rice-bran oil and applied ultrasonic energy to highly viscous bio-oils. These methods seems to have never been tried yet. The final data may be able to be applicated for the design of the diesel engine using an alternative fuel.

Performance characteristics of a single-cylinder power tiller engine with biodiesel produced from mixed waste cooking oil

  • Biodiesel is a clean energy resource that can replace diesel as fuel, which can be used without any structural changes to the engine. Vegetable oil accounts for 95 percent of the raw materials used to produce biodiesel. Thus, many problems can arise, such as rising prices of food resources and an imbalance between supply and demand. Most of the previous studies using waste cooking oil used waste cooking oil from a single material. However, the waste cooking oil that is actually collected is a mixture of various types of waste cooking oil. Therefore, in this study, biodiesel produced with mixed waste cooking oil was supplied to an agricultural single-cylinder diesel engine to assess its potential as an alternative fuel. Based on the results, the brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) increased compared to diesel, and the axis power decreased to between 70 and 99% compared to the diesel. For emissions, NOx and CO2 were increased, but CO and HC were decreased by up to 1 to 7% and 16 to 48%, respectively, compared to diesel. The emission characteristics of the mixed waste cooking oil biodiesel used in this study were shown to be similar to those of conventional vegetable biodiesel, confirming its potential as a fuel for mixed waste cooking oil biodiesel.

  • Recently worldwide concern and research is being actively conducted on green energy which can reduce environmental pollution. A plant such as the natural rapeseed oil, soybean oil, palm, etc. is used as a bio source in home and industry. Biofuels is a sustainable fuel having economically benefits and decreasing environmental pollution problems caused due to fossil fuel, and it can be applied to the conventional diesel engine without changing the existing institutional structure. Waste vegetable oil contains a high cetane number and viscosity component, the low carbon and oxygen content. A lot of research is progressing about the conversion of waste vegetable oil as renewable clean energy. In this study, waste oil was prepared to waste cooking oil generated from the living environment, and applied to diesel engine to confirm the possibility and cost-effectiveness of biodiesel blend waste oil. As a result, brake specific fuel consumption and NOx was increased, carbon monoxide and soot was decreased.

바이오매스로부터 급속 열분해를 통한 바이오오일의 생산기술 연구동향 (Research Trend of Bio-oil Production from Biomass by using Fast Pyrolysis)

  • 본 논문에서는 바이오매스로부터 급속열분해를 통해 난방용, 발전용 및 수송용 연료로 사용하기 위해 바이오오일을 생산하는 기술개발 현황을 나타내었다. 바이오매스를 작은 규모의 액체연료로 전환하기 위해 가장 효율적인 방법 중 하나는 급속열분해이다. 급속열분해를 통한 바이오오일은 $450^{\circ}C{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ 온도에서 바이오매스가 신속히 열분해 되어 증기 급냉를 위해 외부 산소가 없는 조건에서 생산된다. 이 바이오오일은 최초 건조 바이오매스 기준 최대 75 무게%까지 생산할 수 있지만, 일반적으로 60-75 무게% 수준이 적합하다. 본 연구에서는 바이오매스의 원료특성, 바이오오일 생산원리, 바이오오일의 특성 및 활용분야에 대한 최근의 개발현황을 살펴보았다.

목질계 열분해유-바이오 디젤 유상액을 사용하는 직접분사식 디젤 엔진의 엔진성능 및 배기특성에 관한 연구 (Performance and Emission Studies in a DI Diesel Engine Using Wood Pyrolysis Oil-Bio Diesel Emulsion)

  • The vast stores of biomass available in the worldwide have the potential to displace significant amounts of fuels that are currently derived from petroleum sources. Fast pyrolysis of biomass is one of possible paths by which we can convert biomass to higher value products. The wood pyrolysis oil (WPO), also known as the bio crude oil (BCO), has been regarded as an alternative fuel for petroleum fuels to be used in diesel engine. However, the use of WPO in a diesel engine requires modifications due to low energy density, high water contents, low acidity, and high viscosity of the WPO. One of the easiest way to adopt WPO to diesel engine without modifications is emulsification of WPO with diesel or bio diesel. In this study, a DI diesel engine operated with diesel, bio diesel (BD), WPO/BD emulsion was experimentally investigated. Performance and gaseous & particle emission characteristics of a diesel engine fuelled by WPO/BD emulsion were examined. Results showed that stable engine operation was possible with emulsion and engine output power was comparable to diesel and bio diesel operation.

Results showed that stable engine operation was possible with emulsions and engine output power was comparable to diesel and bio diesel operation. However, in case of BCO/diesel emulsion operation, THC & CO emissions were increased due to the increased ignition delay and poor spray atomization and NOx & Soot were decreased due to the water and oxygen in the fuel. Long term validation of adopting BCO in diesel engine is still needed because the oil is acid, with consequent problems of corrosion and clogging especially in the injection system.
