  • Advances in wireless sensor network (WSN) technology have enabled small and low-cost sensors with the capability of sensing various types of physical and environmental conditions, data processing, and wireless communication. In the WSN, the sensor nodes have a limited transmission range and their processing and storage capabilities as well as their energy resources are limited. A triple umpiring system has already been proved for its better performance in WSNs. The clustering technique is effective in prolonging the lifetime of the WSN. In this study, we have modified the ad-hoc on demand distance vector routing by incorporating signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) based dynamic clustering. The proposed scheme, which is an efficient and secure routing protocol for wireless sensor networks through SNR-based dynamic clustering (ESRPSDC) mechanisms, can partition the nodes into clusters and select the cluster head (CH) among the nodes based on the energy, and non CH nodes join with a specific CH based on the SNR values. Error recovery has been implemented during the inter-cluster routing in order to avoid end-to-end error recovery. Security has been achieved by isolating the malicious nodes using sink-based routing pattern analysis. Extensive investigation studies using a global mobile simulator have shown that this hybrid ESRP significantly improves the energy efficiency and packet reception rate as compared with the SNR unaware routing algorithms such as the low energy aware adaptive clustering hierarchy and power efficient gathering in sensor information systems.

  • The reliability of sensor networks is generally dependent on the battery power of the sensor nodes that it employs; hence it is crucial for the sensor nodes to efficiently use their battery resources. This research paper presents a method to increase the reliability of sensor nodes by constructing a connected dominating tree (CDT), which is a subnetwork of wireless sensor networks. It detects the minimum number of dominatees, dominators, forwarder sensor nodes, and aggregates, as well as transmitting data to the sink. A new medium access control (MAC) protocol, called Homogenous Quorum-Based Medium Access Control (HQMAC), is also introduced, which is an adaptive, homogenous, asynchronous quorum-based MAC protocol. In this protocol, certain sensor nodes belonging to a network will be allowed to tune their wake-up and sleep intervals, based on their own traffic load. A new quorum system, named BiQuorum, is used by HQMAC to provide a low duty cycle, low network sensibility, and a high number of rendezvous points when compared with other quorum systems such as grid and dygrid. Both the theoretical results and the simulation results proved that the proposed HQMAC (when applied to a CDT) facilitates low transmission latency, high delivery ratio, and low energy consumption, thus extending the lifetime of the network it serves.

  • LTE-Advanced aims at peak data rates of 1Gbits/s for the downlink and 500 Mbits/s for the uplink, which can be accomplished only by using wide spectrum allocation of 100MHz as well as advanced multiple input multiple output antenna techniques to the uplink. This paper analyzes the uplink precoding techniques which include LTE codebook of downlink, singular value decomposition codebook, and equal gain transmission codebook over LTE defined single carrier frequency division multiplexing systems. Finally considering nonlinear transmit power amplifier model, it is shown that link-level performance of EGT is superior to those of any other precoding schemes.

  • The training sequence with the appropriate length for equalization and initial synchronization is necessary before sending the pure data in the burst transmission type DS-UWB system. The length of the training sequence is one of the factors which make throughput decreased. The noble structure with the variable length of the training sequence whose length can be adaptively tailored according to the channel conditions (CM1,CM2,CM3,CM4) in the DS-USB systems is proposed. This structure can increase the throughput without sacrificing the performance than the method with fixed length of training sequence considering the worst case channel conditions. Simulation results under IEEE 802.15.3a channel model show that the proposed scheme can achieve higher throughput than a conventional one with the slight loss of BER performance. And this structure can reduce the computation complexity and power consumption with selecting the short length of the training sequence.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the performance of GFSK system that presence fading effect in indoor radio communication environments and impulsive electromagnetic noise from electronic equipments then we applied the Truncated Type- II Hybrid ARQ scheme to make satisfied in data transmission service. As a result, the system was influenced by fading and impulsive electromagnetic noise. Especially, the system was much degraded by high occurrence frequency and amplitude of impulsive electromagnetic noise than fading which has direct frequency. By adopting the Truncated Type-II hybrid ARQ technique we can also obtained the performance improvement in the low signal power(20 dB) arid over 24 dB in strong impulsive electromagnetic noise environment which is occurred error floor and terribly influenced by the system.

  • This paper considers the cost minimization issue for sensor network systems where sensor energy is supplied by remote energy sources wirelessly. Assuming symmetric structures of sensor nodes and energy sources, cost minimization problem is formulated, where the cost of sensor networks is represented as a function of sensor node density and energy source coverage. The optimal solution for the problem is provided and simulation results show that the proposal scheme achieves around 19% cost reduction in comparision to a conventional scheme.

  • Cooperative communications (CC) have received a great deal of attention recently as an efficient way to obtain the spatial diversity without physical arrays. Thus, space-time block codes (STBC) which are well-known for use in co-located multi-antenna systems can be still utilized for single-antenna users in a distributed fashion. In this paper, we propose a cooperative signaling structure using the $\frac{3}{4}$-rate STBC and derive closed-form BER expression which takes the effect of network geometry and transmit power constraint into account. A variety of simulated and numerical results demonstrated the cooperation considerably outperforms the direct transmission when partners are located in appropriate positions.

  • This paper gives derivations of voltage collapse conditions by using the Lyapunov function, which yields the exactly same results with the sensitivity analysis approach. On the other hand, the voltage collapse phenomenon is interpreted in the physical sense, and causes of the static voltage unstability and the dynamic voltage unstability are analyzed with the use of proposed Lyapunov function. In addition a new method is developed to calculate the power capacity limit of transmission lines with respect to voltage stability. This paper shows that it is able to analyze the voltage collapse with the Lyapunov direct method in the simple 2-bus system and proposes that the method works well by observing the variation of Lyapunov function as the load is increased in the system.

  • Development of a feed drive-system with high speed, positioning accuracy and thrust has been an important issue in modern automation systems and machine tools. Linear motors can be used as an efficient system to achieve such technical demands. By eliminating mechanical transmission mechanisms such as ball screw or rack-pinion, much higher speeds and greater acceleration can be achieved without backlash or excessive friction. However, due to great power loss and magnetic attraction of the linear motors heating and deflection problems occur. Therefore, it is necessary to design strong structure, cooling device with high efficiency and light weight construction in designing stage of linear motors. This paper presents an investigation into a structural design of linear motor system. In this research, a new concept of moving table with high stiffness and of cooling plate is also introduced. Structure analyses are performed by using a commercial code ANSYS in order to evaluate the design safety.

  • This paper proposes a utility-based data rate allocation algorithm to provide high-quality mobile video streaming over femtocell networks. We first derive a utility function to calculate the optimal data rates for maximizing the aggregate utilities of all mobile users in the femtocell. The total sum of optimal data rates is limited by the link capacity of the backhaul connections. Furthermore, electromagnetic cross-talk poses a serious problem for the backhaul connections, and its influence passes on to mobile users, as well as causing data rate degradation in the femtocell networks. We also have studied a fixed margin iterative water-filling algorithm to achieve the target data rate of each backhaul connection as a counter-measure to the cross-talk problem. The results of our simulation show that the algorithm is capable of minimizing the transmission power of backhaul connections while guaranteeing a high overall quality of service for all users of the same binder. In particular, it can provide the target data rate required to maximize user satisfaction with the mobile video streaming service over the femtocell networks.
