  • For the low-power design of the mobile multimedia system architecture, this paper modeling the mobile multimedia system and analysis the power consumption profile about the whole communication environment. The mobile system model consist of air interface, RIP front-end, base-band processing module and human interface. For the result of power consumption profile analysis, the power consumption of multimedia processing is above 60% compare to the whole power consumption in mobile multimedia system. To minimize the power consumption in processing module which consumes the large power, this paper proposed the Microscopic DVS technique which applies the optimum voltage for the each multimedia frame. For the simulation result, proposed power minimization technique reduce the power consumption about 30%.

  • This paper presents the various analysis of the power system for operating the new SIHWA tidal power plant. In the analysis of the power system, summer load condition of 2011 is used. Especially, power flow, fault current, voltage and contingency of SIHWA tidal power plant area are analyzed by using PSS/E and there is no problem for the dynamic stability simulation. The new SIHWA tidal power plant is located in near metropolitan area where about 43% amount of the system load is consumed. Therefore, transmission losses are reduced. In addition, system marginal price can be lowered by generating the new SIHWA tidal power plant. The generation pattern of the SIHWA tidal plant is analyzed and the changes of generation are presented for various water levels by control of the rotor angle alpha and beta in water wheel generator.

Nowadays, the market of photovoltaic system is expected to be expanded due to the introduction of RPS(Renewable Portfolio Standard). Floating photovoltaic system is a new power system using the water surface above the dam and reservoir water. Floating photovoltaic system is different from the traditional approach to the development of solar power system causing problems such as environmental degradation. This paper investigates the analysis methods of suitable site for the development of floating photovoltaic system. The A,B,C as the optimal candidates were selected in hap cheon dam. The C is the best suitable site in A,B,C considering the expected power generation. Applied methods have effectively done to develop floated photovoltaic system.

  • In this paper, the power system with electric vehicles is analyzed considering the mobility and diffusion rate of electric vehicles in the smart grid environment. In the previous studies, load modeling and load composition rates have been researched and the results are applied to develop a new load model to explain the mobility of electric vehicles which could affect on the power system status such as power flow and stability. The results would be utilized to research and develop power system analysis methods considering movable charging characteristics of electric vehicles including movable discharging characteristics which could be affected by the diffusion progress of electric vehicles.

  • Hydraulic power steering system has been adopted in seniority passenger and commercial vehicle system for an easy maneuverability and a smoother ride. In this study, hydraulic power steering system analysis model which includes hydraulics and mechanical sub-systems was developed using commercial software, AMESim in order to predict characteristics for various steering components. Each component which constructs system was modeled and verified by experimentally obtained characteristics curves of each components. The agreement between simulation and experimental results shows the validity of the simulation model. The parameter sensitivity analysis such as valve opening area, torsional stiffness for system design are carried out by the analysis and experimental method.

  • Limitation countermeasure on harmonics occurred by power conversion installation, motor speed control equipment, and so on of power system is very important problem, and first of all, accuracy harmonics analysis in system is required for appropriate limitation counterplan. Analysis and judgement on power system harmonic by measurement are needed because analysis by mathematical model generally used for these harmonic analysis, if nonlinear ingredient is included in system, is not relatively correct. So, in this paper, system to measure and analyze harmonic by installing it in a power system, using DSP(Digital Signal Processor), is designed and developed. Also, it's performance is verified by installing it in the system that harmonics occurred.

  • In this paper, the method for effective stability analysis of Jeju power system in 2011 is proposed. The stability analysis of Jeju power system was carried out by using proposed method In case of Jeju power system with wind turbine generators or without wind turbine generators, including CSC HVDC or VSC HVDC. The steady-state stability is validated by SCR and ESCR, PV curve, QV curve. And the transient stability is analyzed by CCT(Critical Clearing Time). VSC HVDC has more advantages than CSV HVDC on the stability. Also, Jeju power system without wind turbine generators has more advantages than Jeju power system with Wind Turbine Generators on the stability.

  • In this paper, the Resistive Companion Form(RCF) analysis method is applied to analyze small signal stability of power systems including thyristor controlled FACTS equipments such as SVC. The eigenvalue sensitivity analysis algorithm in discrete systems based on the RCF analysis method is presented and applied to the power system including SVC. As a result of simulation, the RCF analysis method is proved very effective to precisely calculate the variations of eigenvalues or newly generated unstable oscillation modes after periodic switching operations of SVC. Also the eigenvalue sensitivity analysis method based on the RCF analysis method enabled to precisely calculate eigenvalue sensitivity coefficients of controller parameters about the dominant oscillation mode after periodic switching operations in discrete systems. These simulation results are different from those of the conventional continuous system analysis method such as the state space equation and proved that the RCF analysis method is very effective to analyze the discrete power systems including periodically operated switching equipments such as SVC.

  • Satellites have provided the impetus for the orderly development of reliability engineering research and analysis because they tend to have complex systems and hence acute problems. They were instrumental in developing mathematical models for reliability, as well as design techniques to permit quantitative specification, prediction and measurement of reliability. Reliability engineering is based on implementing measures which insure an item will perform its mission successfully. The discipline of reliability engineering consists of two fundamental aspects; $(1^{st})$ paying attention to details, and $(2^{nd})$ handling uncertainties. This paper uses some of the basic concepts, formulas and examples of reliability theory in application. This paper emphasizes the practical reliability analysis of a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Micro-satellite power subsystem. Approaches for specifying and allocating the reliability of each element of the power system so as to meet the overall power system reliability requirements, as well as to give detailed modeling and predicting of equipment/system reliability are introduced. The results are handled and analyzed to form the final reliability results for the satellite power system. The results show that the Electric Power Subsystem (EPS) reliability meets the requirements with quad microcontrollers (MC), two boards working as main and cold redundant while each board contains two MCs in a hot redundant.
