Major utilities have been focusing on R&D and nationwide business of AMI system which plays a vital role in SmartGrid whose concept is to maximize energy efficiency and optimize electric power facility management with exchanging real time information between utilities and consumers based on ICT technologies in power grid. In this paper, we suggest a power loss monitoring method using KEPCO's AMI system which is operating in fields and with the acquisition of AMI data and analyses verify the validation of a power loss monitoring method.
Remote Sensing Monitoring and Loss Estimated System of Flood Disaster based on GIS is an integrated system comprised flood disaster information receiving and collection, flood disaster simulation, and flood disaster estimation. When the system receives and collects remote sensing monitoring and conventional investigation information, the distributional features of flood disaster on space and time is obtained by means of image processing and information fusion. The economic loss of flood disaster can be classified into two pus: direct economic loss and indirect economic loss. The estimation of direct economic loss applies macroscopic economic analysis methods, i.e. applying Product (Industry and Agriculture Gross Product or Gross Domestic Product - GDP) or Unit Synthetic Economic Loss Index, direct economic loss can be estimated. Estimating indirect economic loss applies reduction coefficient methods with direct economic loss. The system can real-timely ascertains flood disaster and estimates flood Loss, so that the science basis fur decision-making of flood control and relieving disaster may be provided.

Ensuring the designed prestress force is very important for the safety of prestressed concrete bridge. The loss of prestress force in tendon could significantly reduce load carrying capacity of the structure. In this study, an automated prestress-loss monitoring system for prestressed concrete girder using PZT-interface and wireless impedance sensor node is presented. The following approaches are carried out to achieve the objective. Firstly, wireless impedance sensor nodes are designed for automated impedance-based monitoring technique. The sensor node is mounted on the high-performance Imote2 sensor platform to fulfill high operating speed, low power requirement and large storage memory. Secondly, a smart PZT-interface designed for monitoring prestress force is described. A linear regression model is established to predict prestress-loss. Finally, a system of the PZT-interface interacted with the wireless sensor node is evaluated from a lab-scale tendon-anchorage connection of a prestressed concrete girder.
Since the Fukushima accident in 2011, the importance of the electrical systems in nuclear power plants (NPPs) has been emphasized. The result has been that NPP regulators are enhancing their monitoring of loss of offsite power (LOOP) events. Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. (KHNP) is reviewing the status and issues related to LOOPs, and is attempting to establish specific countermeasures to prevent LOOPs, because they can have severe consequences in the complicated maintenance schedule during an outage. A starting point for preventing LOOPs is the control of the loss of voltage (LOV)-initiating components. In order to reflect this in the risk assessment program, an LOV monitor is being developed for use during plant outages.

This paper is to design an optimum power conversion device for the system required for development of a low cost 3-phase power inverter. For this purpose, in order to meet with endurance required by the industry, failure mode is standardized to guarantee lifetime of a power semiconductor by monitoring real time power loss and to facilitate failure mode analysis. As normality of heat loss of a power semiconductor is identified remaining in a certain range by comparing heat rise slope between that is calculated by using average current or average loss and that is measured at a heat sink, its feasibility is confirmed by experiment.
In order to supply power to online monitoring systems that are attached to high voltage catenary or overhead wires, a wireless power transfer system is required that is able to transmit power over the insulation gap. Such wireless power transfer systems have transmitter and receiver coils that have diameters of over 10cm. This paper focused on an investigation of the sources of loss in the coils when the coils are fabricated using printed circuit board technology. Using finite element simulation results, it has been shown that the dielectric loss in the substrate was the dominant source of the total loss. It has been demonstrated that the selection of a proper dielectric material was the most critical factor in reducing the loss. For further reduction of the loss, the distributed tuning capacitor method and the slotting of the inter-turn spaces have been proposed. For the evaluation of the proposed methods, four coils have been fabricated and their equivalent series resistances and quality factors were measured. Measured quality factors were greater than 300, which means that these devices will be helpful in achieving high coil-to-coil efficiency.

The power electric system is one of the most concerning factor for the reliability of the electric propulsion ship. operation in higher temperature decreases the device's reliability and power efficiency. the management of power loss and temperature of switching devices is indispensable for the reliability fo the power electric system. In this paper, IGBT chip of the switching devices is modeled and MIIR(Motor with Inverter Internal to Rotor)type of the propulsion motors is used. these parts interact with each other to calculate the loss and temperature of device. calculated Results is modeled and designed of the control and monitoring system for the electric propulsion system.

In power system, substation facilities have become too complex and larger according to an extended power system. Also, customers require the high quality of electrical power system. However, some facilities become old and often break down unexpectedly. The unexpected failure may cause a break in power system and loss of profits. Therefore it is important to prevent abrupt faults by monitoring the condition of power systems. Among the various power facilities, power transformers play an important role in the transmission and distribution systems. In this research, we develop intelligent diagnosis technique for monitoring of power transformer by FCM(Fuzzy c-means) and ELM(Extreme Learning Machine). The proposed technique make it possible to diagnosis the faults occurred in transformer. To demonstrate the validity of proposed method, various experiments are performed and their results are presented.

The cooling system is one of the most concerning factor for the reliability of the electric propulsion ship. Generally, a drive system operation in higher temperature decreases the device's reliability and power efficiency. The management of power loss and temperature of switching devices is indispensable for the reliability of the power electric system. In this paper, the switching devices are molded by IGBT, and the propulsion system is consisted of MIIR(Motor with Inverter Internal to Rotor). The system composition interacts with each other to calculate the loss and temperature of device. The calculation result is used for modeling and designing of the control and monitoring system for the electric propulsion system.
Instead of installing new communication wiring to each house in the apartment house building. the power distribution network. which is already installed in the building. can be use as communication medium. In a safty management, by adoption of power line communication system, at remote we can monitor safty related sensors such as fire, gas leakage, burglar intrusion and emergency call which are located at each house. From this viewpoint, we developed security monitoring system for apartment house building using power lines. Security monitoring system consists of Power Line Communication-Sub Controller (PLC-SC). Power Line Communication-Main Controller (PLC-MC) and Management System (MS). Between a PLC-MC and a PLC-SC, the transmission rate is 1200 bps in power lines and modulation technique is frequency shirt keying (FSK). In between a PLC-MC and a MS, the transmission rate is 1200 bps in communication line (RS-485). As a result of this research. transmission loss is 0.1dB per meter of intrabuilding distribution network. Transmission can be reach in 250 meters. So it is enough to communicate for security monitoring system in apartment house building.
