Average Current Mode Control for LLC Series Resonant DC-to-DC Converters

  • An average current mode control scheme that consistently offers good dynamic performance for LLC series resonant DC-to-DC converters irrespective of the changes in the operational conditions is presented in this paper. The proposed control scheme employs current feedback from the resonant tank circuit through an integrator-type compensation amplifier to improve the dynamic performance and enhance the noise immunity and reliability of the feedback controller. Design guidelines are provided for both current feedback and voltage feedback compensation. The performance of the new control scheme is demonstrated through an experimental 150 W converter operating with 340 V to 390 V input voltage to provide a 24 V output voltage.

  • In this paper, we consider Hammerstein-Wiener nonlinear model for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). A nonlinear model predictive control (MPC) is proposed to trace the constant stack terminal power by Hydrogen flow as control input. After the stability of the closed-loop system with static output feedback controller is analysed by Lyapunov method, a nonlinear model predictive control based on the Hammerstein-Wiener model is developed to control the stack terminal power of the SOFC system. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed control method based on the Hammerstein-Wiener model for SOFC system.

  • In this paper, we present a decentralized robust adaptive fuzzy controller for the transient stability and voltage regulation of a multimachine power system under a sudden fault. Power systems have uncertain dynamics due to various effects such a lightning, severe storms and equipment failure in addition to interconnections between generators. Hence a robust controller to deal with these uncertainties in needed. The fuzzy systems are adapted using a Lyapunov-based design and the stability of each closed-loop system is guaranteed. Simulation results show that satisfactory performance is achieved by proposed controller.

회전 토크 교정장치 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of a Rotational Torque Calibration System)

  • A rotational torque calibration system is developed to measure rotational torque of power generating systems and to calibrate non-contact rotational torque measurement systems. The maximum capacity of the developed system is 4.5 N-m. It is composed of a DC motor, a DC generator, a control system, a master torque cell, a slip ling/brush set, supporters, a bed etc. The control system is characterized by the closed-loop control with differential intergrator. Rotational torque measurement test and unit response test are conducted to estimate the accuracy of the developed system. It is found that system maintain high consistency and accuracy with the maximum error of 0.25%, Therefore the developed system can be used to measure the rotational torque of power generating systems and to calibrate non-contact rotational torque measurement systems.

  • This paper develops a design methodology of a decentralized fuzzy load-frequency controller for a large-scale nonlinear power system with valve position limits on governors. The concerned system is locally exactly modeled in Takagi-Sugeno's form. Sufficient design condition for uniform ultimate boundedness of the closed-loop system is derived based on the overlapping decomposition. Convergence of all incremental frequency deviations to zero is also investigated. A simulation result is provided to visualize the effectiveness of the proposed technique.

  • In this paper, we present a decentralized adaptive neural net(NN) controller for the transient stability and voltage regulation of a multimachine power system. First, an adaptively input-output linearizing controller using NN is designed to eliminate the nonlinearities and interactions between generators. Then, a robust control term which bounds terminal voltage to a neighborhood of the operating point within the desired value is introduced using only local information. In addition, we consider input saturation which exists in the SCR amplifier and prove that the stability of the overall closed-loop system is maintained regardless of the input saturation. The design procedure is tested on a two machine infinite bus power system.

  • 본 논문에서는 슬라이딩 모드 관측기를 이용하여 IPMSM(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor)의 센서리스 제어의 기동특성에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. IPMSM의 센서리스 제어는 초기 구동시 회전자의 위치를 알 수가 없으므로 Open-Loop알고리즘을 이용하여 강제로 모터를 구동시킨다. 그러므로 Open-Loop에서 Closed-Loop로 제어되는 시점에서 부하의 상태에 따라 기동 특성에 문제점을 야기 시킬 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 부하에 따라 기동 특성에서 야기되는 문제점과 해결책을 제시한다. 제시된 방법을 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증한다.

  • This paper describes a gate drive circuit for series connected IGBTs in high voltage applications. The proposed control criterion of the gate circuit is to actively limit the voltages during switching transients, while minimizing switching transient and losses. In order to achieve the control criterion, an analog closed loop control scheme is adopted. The performance of gate drive circuit is examined experimentally by the series connection of three IGBTs with conventional snubber circuits. The experimental results show the voltage balancing by an active control under wide variation in loads and imbalance conditions.

Real-time Adaptive Polarization Control in a Non-PM Fiber Amplifier

  • Real-time adaptive control of laser output polarization is presented in a 10-W-level non-polarization-maintaining (non-PM) fiber amplifier. While the output polarization from a non-PM fiber amplifier tends to be irregular, depending on output power, time, and perturbation, closed-loop polarization control can maintain the polarization extinction ratio at higher than 20 dB. Real-time polarization control can attain the target linear polarization mostly within 1.4-25 ms and shows stability against external perturbations. This approach can satisfy both linear polarization and high output power in a non-PM amplifier, and facilitates optimization of laser performance and maintenance-free operation.

A DTC Stator Flux Algorithm for the Performance Improvement of Induction Traction Motors

  • In view of the speed control characteristics of induction traction motors and the problems of direct torque control (DTC) algorithms in current applications, this paper presents a DTC algorithm characterized by a symmetrical polygon flux control and a closed loop power control in the constant-torque base speed region and constant-power field-weakening region of induction traction motors. This algorithm only needs to add a stator flux control algorithm to the traditional DTC structures. This has the benefit of simplicity, while maintaining the features of traditional algorithms such as a rapid dynamic response, uncomplicated control circuit, reduced dependence on motor parameters, etc. In addition, it obtains a smoother flux trajectory that is conducive to improvement of the harmonic elimination capability, the switching frequency utilization as well as the torque and power performance in the field-weakening region. The effectiveness and feasibility of this DTC algorithm are demonstrated by both theoretical analysis and experimental results.
