This paper analyze the interference problems, especially Ac corrosion when the gas pipeline is buried with power cable in the same submarine tunnel. This paper present the results of the study about interference mechanism(inductive coupling, conductive coupling, resistive coupling), AC corrosion, limitation of safety voltage, modeling of power cables, gas pipeline and grounding systems, analysis of induction voltage and optimal arrangement of power cables.
Offshore wind power is increasingly regarded as a viable solution for reducing greenhous emissions due to the construction of wind farms and their superior power generation efficiency. Submarine power cables play a crucial role in transmitting the electricity generated offshore to land. To monitor cables and identify points of failure, analyzing the location or depth of burial of submarine cables is necessary. This study reviewed the technology and research for detecting submarine power cables, which were categorized into seismic/acoustic, electromagnetic, and magnetic exploration. Seismic/acoustic waves are primarily used for detecting submarine power cables by installing equipment on ships. Electromagnetic and magnetic exploration detects cables by installing equipment on unmanned underwater vehicles, including autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) and remotely operated vihicles (ROV). This study serves as a foundational resource in the field of submarine power cable detection.

The demand for electric power is increasing every year. All facilities operating at power stations and all facilities used in transmitting high volumes of electric power are therefore expected to operate with a high degree of reliability. 6.6 kV XLPE 100 SQ 1C cables are used to deliver high levels of generated electric power. Depending on the method of manufacture, installation environment, and usage conditions, the deterioration processes of power cables start from the instant of operation. Cable junctions may break down in three years from the start of operation due to manufacturing or construction defects. We have invented the first device in Korea to monitor the status of live cables and installed these at Korea Western Power Co., Ltd.. We have set the criteria to determine deterioration status and specified the degree of deterioration at which one should replace the cables. In this paper, we present the effect of insulation layer and sheath on the insulation resistance status in cables.

In this study, we investigated the effects of hot water on the aging of URD power cables due to the hot water ingress to power distribution lines. Hot water contacted and non-contacted cables extracted from 2 distribution lines were characterized by the measurement of oxidation induction time(OIT) and chemical structure. In OIT measurement, hot water contacted cables showed the shorter OIT than non-contacted ones. Especially, hot water contacted insulation layer near insulation shield showed the shortest OIT. In chemical structure analysis, the antioxidant content was decreased and the acid concentration was increased by hot water ingress. From this results, it can be concluded that the hot water ingress to power cable may be accelerate the aging by means of antioxidant consumption.
In order to investigate the interfacial effects on the aging of power cables, we analyzed recently failed cables using characterization techniques. In this study, some cables showed a convolution which can cause the concentration of electric field and carbonized impurities at the surface of insulation. Also there is a relation between the degree of cross- linking and volume resistivity. From the hot oil test, the sites of water tree and void coincided with each other.
Most accidents of medium-voltage cables installed in nuclear power plants result from the initial defect of internal insulators or the initial failure due to poor construction. However, as the service years of plants increase, the possibility of cable accidents is also rapidly increases. This is primarily caused by electric, mechanical, thermal, and radiation stresses. Recently, much attention is paid to the study of cable diagnoses. To date, partial discharge and Tan${\delta}$ measurements are known as reliable methods to diagnose the aging of medium-voltage cables. High frequency partial discharge measurement techniques have been widely used to diagnose cables in transmission and distribution systems. However, the on-line high frequency partial discharge technique has not been used in the nuclear power plants because of the plant shutdown risk, degraded measurement sensitivity, and application problems. In this paper, the partial discharge measurement with a portable device was tried to evaluate the integrity of the 4.16kV and 13.8kV cable lines. The test results show that the high detection sensitivity can be achieved by the high frequency partial discharge technique. The present technique is highly attractive to diagnose medium voltage cables in nuclear power plants.
In this work, we have performed the application experiment for real distribution line to diagnose the underground power cables using DC voltage decay measurement system. We have also performed the Isothermal Relaxation Current test for the same distribution line using KDA-l. We could confirmed possibility of grading the insulation aging state of underground power cables. Therefore, we conclude that it is possible to apply DC voltage decay method to the real distribution line.
In recent years, it is strongly required to supply high quality electrical power without insulation failure in distribution power cables. Therefore the exact measurement and judgment ar out deterioration degree of cables are essential to increase that supplying reliability. This paper will introduce various diagnostic methods of off-line and live-line cables also propose the judgement criteria and newly trend of diagnostic technique at present.
Fire protection for nuclear power plants should be designed according to the concept of "Defense in Depth" to achieve the reactor safety shutdown. This concept focuses on fire prevention, fire suppression and safe shutdown. Fire prevention is the first line of "Defense in Depth" and the licensee should establish administrative measures to minimize the potential for fire to occur. Administrative measures should include procedures to control handling and use of combustibles. Electrical cables is the major contributor of fire loads in nuclear power plants, therefore electrical cables should be fire retardant. Electrical cables installed in nuclear power plants should pass the flame test in IEEE-383 standard in accordance with NUREG-0800, "Standard Review Plan for the Review of Safety Analysis Reports for Nuclear Power Plants". To assure the fire retardant of electrical cables during design life, both aged and unaged cable specimens should be tested in accordance with IEEE-383. It can be generally thought that the flammability of electrical cables has been increased by wearing as time passed, however the results from fire retardant tests performed in U.S.A and Korea indicate the inconsistent tendency of aging and consequential decrease in flammability. In this study, it is expected that the effective methodology for validation of fire retardant performance would be identified through the review of the results from fire retardant tests.
About 20 years have passed since cross-linked polyethylene(XLPE) came into practical use for power transmission cables. In 1969, We were the first to product 33kV XLPE insulated cables, and in 1984 produced XLPE cable for 154kV. To meet the increasing demand for electric power in large cities, and to improve reliability of the power supply, plans are being made to introduce ultrahigh-tension power cable for long distance underground lines in urban areas. Studies are currently under way to develop more than 154kV XLPE cables to meet increasing demand. In this paper presents the progress in the production and design of XLPE cables, and describes ways in which further improvements seems likely.
