  • In this paper, the problem that occurs when negative voltage is generated using an inexpensive buck device in an IT device that is supplied with a single power by an adapter or battery is analyzed. For the cause analysis, the principle of operation of the buck device and the principle of the inverter circuit were examined, and the circuit characteristics of the inverter circuit were analyzed using the buck device. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the inverter circuit using the buck device initially needs a large starting current, and in particular, in the case of a current capacity that is less than the starting current in the circuit that supplies power, it was confirmed that it could fall into a state similar to the latch-up phenomenon. In order to confirm the analysis result, an experimental circuit was constructed and the input current was checked. If the supply current is sufficient, it is confirmed that over-current flows and starts. If the supply current is insufficient, the circuit cannot start and a latch-up phenomenon occurs.

  • There are many economic and operational reasons to integrate fire alarm signaling system with other building automation system. Integration of this requires open network with for the standard communication protocol and careful design practices. The important point for this is also the development of intelligent control modules for replacing the conventional zone adapter in fire system. Therefore, this paper proposes an new conceptual design of the open distributed fire alarm signaling system for the integration of BAS, a new intelligent control modules with LonTalk protocol and a new control modules for power line communication. Newly proposed additions to LonWorks network make it very well suited for integrating fire systems with other building automation sub-systems and another BAS with low cost. Additionally, it is very important that best design practices, test procedures and building codes need to be modernized to accommodate integrated building systems.

  • This paper presents the intra capacitance modeling according to the winding method and section bobbin for CM choke capable of the EMI attenuation of broad bands from lower frequency bands to higher frequency bands and high frequency type common-mode choke capable of the EMI attenuation of high frequency band used in the EMI Block of LED-TV SMPS. In case of high frequency type CM choke, it can be explained the parasitic capacitance of A type and section bobbin type winding methods among them is much smaller than the other. The first resonant frequency of the proposed CM choke tends to increase as the parasitic capacitance becomes small and its impedance characteristics also show improved performance as the first resonant frequency increases. In the future, the CM chokes of high frequency type show it can be practically used in not only LED/LCD-TV SMPS but also several applications such as LED Lighting, Adapter and so on.

  • In this study, based on a 12L class diesel engine, a natural gas-diesel dual fuel engine was developed by adding natural gas fuel supply system. For optimal control of dual fuel engine, a conventional diesel engine ECU and a dual fuel ECU were utilized. To convert the dual fuel engine, MPI natural gas injectors were installed on the new modified intake manifold adapter. As a results, the dual fuel engine showed same level of torque, power performance and exhaust gas emissions as those of a diesel base engine.. Furthermore, overall fuel replacement rate was 70~76 % and total fuel cost saving was 37~40%.

  • In this paper, we have explained electrical characteristics of a step-down Rosen type piezoelectric transformer for AC-adapter. When the electric voltage is applied to the driving piezoelectric vibrator polarized in the longitudinal direction, then output voltage is generated at the generating piezoelectric vibrator polarized in the thickness direction due to the piezoelectric effects. From the piezoelectric direct and converse effects, symbolic expressions between the electric inputs and outputs of the step-down piezoelectric transformer have derived with an equivalent circuit model. With the symbolic expressions, load and frequency characteristics have discussed through simulation. Output voltage and current from a 11-layered and a 13-layered piezoelectric transformers were measured under the various conditions of loads and frequencies. First we measured resonant frequency from impedance curve and got equivalent impedance value of the piezoelectric transformer from admittance plot. It was shown from experiments that output voltage has increased and resonant frequency has changed according to various resistor loads. Output current has decreased inversely proportional to changing of loads. Moreover, the measured values of output voltage and current are well agreed with the simulated values of the proposed equivalent circuit model.

  • The ground-based spacecraft simulator is a useful tool to realize various space missions and satellite formation flying in the future. Also, the spacecraft simulator can be used to develop and verify new control laws required by modern spacecraft applications. In this research, therefore, Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulator which can be demonstrated the experimental validation of the theoretical results is designed and developed. The main components of the HIL simulator which we focused on are the thruster system to attitude control and automatic mass-balancing for elimination of gravity torques. To control the attitude of the spacecraft simulator, 8 thrusters which using the cold gas (N2) are aligned with roll, pitch and yaw axis. Also Linear actuators are applied to the HIL simulator for automatic mass balancing system to compensate for the center of mass offset from the center of rotation. Addition to the thruster control system and Linear actuators, the HIL simulator for spacecraft attitude control includes an embedded computer (Onboard PC) for simulator system control, Host PC for simulator health monitoring, command and post analysis, wireless adapter for wireless network, rate gyro sensor to measure 3-axis attitude of the simulator, inclinometer to measure horizontality and battery sets to independently supply power only for the simulator. Finally, we present some experimental results from the application of the controller on the spacecraft simulator.

The sample APT1 showed the best properties. The highest admittance, effective electromechanical coupling coefficient and an appropriate mechanical quality factor were obtained at the sample with the input/output area ratio of 1:1.5 at the common electrode, and the condition of 20 $V_{rms}$, $50\;\Omega$ made the maximum efficiency of $95\%$. The temperature was increased by 14.7'E as the input voltage was increased for $50\;V_{rms},\;50\;\Omega$.

  • In this study, a Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulator using thrusters is developed to validate the spacecraft attitude system. To control the attitude of the simulator, eight cold gas thrusters are aligned with roll, pitch and yaw axis. Also linear actuators are applied to the HIL simulator for automatic mass balancing to compensate the center of mass offset from the center of rotation. The HIL simulator consists of an embedded computer (Onboard PC) for simulator system control, a wireless adapter for wireless network, a rate gyro sensor to measure 3-axis attitude of the simulator, an inclinometer to measure horizontal attitude, and a battery set to supply power for the simulator independently. For the performance test of the HIL simulator, a bang-bang controller and Pulse-Width Pulse-Frequency (PWPF) modulator are evaluated successfully. The maneuver of 68 deg. in yaw axis is tested for the comparison of the both controllers. The settling time of the bang -bang controller is faster than that of the PWPF modulator by six seconds in the experiment. The required fuel of the PWPF modulator is used as much as 51% of bang-bang controller in the experiment. Overall, the HIL simulator is appropriately developed to validate the control algorithms using thrusters.

  • In this study, the dynamic environment of satellite consists of excessive vibration at low frequency and irregular acceleration transferred by launch vehicle structure. Excessive vibration at low frequency is generally approximated by a sinusoidal wave from 100Hz to 200Hz and primarily used to preliminary design The random vibration is created by structural vibration due to the combustion of launch vehicle, separation stage and external aerodynamic noise. these are transferred to the adapter structure between satellite and launch vehicle through the structure of launch vehicle. random vibration is being specified for acceptance tests, screening tests, and qualification tests, because it has been shown that random vibration more closely represents the true environments in which the electronic equipment must operate.
