RBAO 세라믹스 공정에서 어트리터 효율에 미치는 볼 크기의 영향 (The Effects of Ball Size on Attritor Efficiency in the Processing of RBAO Ceramics)

  • The reaction bonded alumina ceramics was prepared through the addition of each SiC and ZrO2 powder to the mixture of Al metal powder and Al2O3 The mono sized (3mm) and biodal sized (3mm+5mm) balls were used in attrition milling of Al and starting powders. The milling efficiency of both cases was compared by the analysis of particle size and X-ray diffraction. After the forming and sintering of each powder batchs the weight gains dimensional changes and densities were determined. The specimens were investigated by X-ray diffraction analysis and scanning electron microscope. Bimodal sized balls had better milling effect than single ball size in the milling of Al powder. However in the milling which ceramic powders mono sized the green body during the reaction sintering at 1$600^{\circ}C$ for 5 hour was about 10% The densities attained the values of 92-98% theoretical. The SiC added specimen that was milled with 3mm ball media had 96% theoretical density and dense microstructure.

WS$_2$ 고체윤활제의 합성 및 구름베어링 적용 (Synthesis of WS$_2$ Solid Lubricant and Its Application to the Ball Bearing)

  • The processing conditions for the synthesis of platelet WS$_2$ lubricant powder through the solid-gas reaction were optimized. The tungsten and sulfur powders were sealed in a vacuum of 10$^{-6}$ torr, prior to heat-treating at 850$\circ$C for 8 days. The react~on product showed the well-developed platelet WS$_2$ powder with an average size of 3.8 $\mu$m. The synthesized WS$_2$ powder was coated on the commercial deep grooved ball bearing (No. 6203) to examine the effects of WS$_2$ coating layer on the noise and endurance of the ball bearing. The level of noise obtained from WS$_2$ coated-ball bearing was higher (56 dB) than the value occurred in the case of greece (37 dB). The life-time of the ball-bearing assembled after coating WS$_2$ powder increased 50 times compared to the non-coated bali-bearing.

수열반응에 의한 알루미나 지지체에 제올라이트 A 박막의 합성 (Synthesis of zeolite A membranes on alumina support by hydrothermal reaction)

  • 수열합성 장치를 이용하여 종자 결정이 도포된 알루미나 지지체 위에 제올라이트 박막을 합성하였다. X-선 회절 분석과 전자현미경 사진을 이용하여 반응기 내에 생성된 제올라이트 A 분말과 제올라이트 A박막의 생성과 전이 생성물에 대해 합성온도, 합성시간, 종자결정의 영향에 대해서 고찰하였다. 제올라이트 A박막의 생성은 지지체 표면에 도포된 종자 결정에서 치밀한 연속적인 박막이 형성된 다음 용해과정을 거쳐 결정의 크기가 큰 다결정 층을 형성하고, 최종적으로 소다라이트를 거쳐 무정형으로 진행하였다. 반면에 분말에서는 반응초기부터 소다라이트가 관찰되는데 고정된 제올라이트 A 박막과 다르게 결정주위의 공간적인 차이에 의해 소다라이트가 생성하기에 용이한 공간을 갖기 때문에 소다라이트가 쉽게 생성되는 것으로 생각된다. 합성온도가 높으면 짧은 시간 내에 전이 생성물을 거쳐 무정형으로 진행하였고 온도가 낮으면 합성 시간이 길고 피복도가 다소 낮은 제올라이트 A 박막을 얻었다. $120^{\circ}C$, 12시간에서 피복도가 높은 치밀한 제올라이트 A박막을 합성하였다.

염화물의 기상환원반응에 의한 미립질 철분말의 생성속도에 관한 연구 (Kinetic Study on Preparation of Iron Fine Powders by Hydrogen Reduction of Ferous Chloride Vapor)

  • 염화철(Ferrous Choloride) 증기의 고온 수소환원 반응을 통한 미립질 철분말의 생성속도에 대한 이론적인 해석돠 실험을 수행하였다. 철분말의 생성기구는 염화철이 증발하여 생성된 증기와 운반가스인 알곤을 혼합하여 반응부로 유입시키고 수소에 의한 고온환원반을을 통하여 철분말과 함께 부산물인 염화수소(HCI) 가스를 얻게 된다. 생성된 반응부 후미에 설치한 유기용매 포집기를 이용하여 회수하였으며, 염화수소는 가성소다 수용액에 흡수시키고 이를 적정함으로써 초기 반응물인 염화철의 전환율을 계산하였다. 반응속도식의 반응물에 대하여 1차반응(1st-order reaction)이고 염화철 증가와 운반체인 알곤가스가 평형상태일 때의 속도상수는 $k=7,879exp(-53,840/RT)\textrm{dm}^3/mole.sec$으로 표시되며, 이때의 활성화에너지는 53.84kJ/mole이었다. 철분말의 TEM 사진에 의하면 입도범위는 $0.1~1.0{\mu\textrm{m}}$이며, 반응온도 및 가스유량에는 크게 영향을 받지 않는것으로 나타났다.

수열합성법을 이용한 BaTiO3 나노분말 합성 (Synthesis of Nano-Size BaTiO3 Powder by Hydrothermal Reaction Method)

  • Nano-size $BaTiO_3$ powder was synthesized by relatively simple hydrothermal reaction method. Finely dispersed Ti hydroxide precursor was first precipitated using $Ti(SO_4)_2$ and NaOH solution by applying ultrasonic power and washed thoroughly to remove $SO_4{^{2-}}$ and $Na^+$ ion. Then hydrothermal reaction was done at $160^{\circ}C$ for 6 hrs using solution prepared by washed Ti hydroxide precursor slurry and $Ba(OH)_2{\cdot}8H_2O$ with Ti:Ba mole ratio of 1:1. 200 ~ 500 nm size and uniform size distributed $BaTiO_3$ powder was synthesized by relatively low temperature and simple process.

수소반응속도 제어에 의한 Nd-Fe-B-Ga-Nb 합금의 미세조직 이방화율 향상에 관한 연구 (Improvement of Microstructural Anisotropy of Nd-Fe-B-Ga-Nb Alloy by the Control of Hydrogen Reaction)

  • HDDR treated anisotropic Nd-Fe-B powders have been widely used for the sheet motors and the sunroof motors of hybrid or electric vehicles, due to their excellent magnetic properties. Microstructural alignment of HDDR treated powders are mostly depending on the hydrogen reaction in disproportionation step, so the specific method to control hydrogenation reaction is required for improving magnetic properties. In disproportionation step, hydrogenation pressure and reaction time were controlled in the range of 0.15~1.0 atm for 15~180 min in order to control the micorstructural alignment of $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ phase and, at the same time, to improve remanence of HDDR treated magnet powders. In this study, we could obtain a well aligned anisotropic Nd-Fe-B-Ga-Nb alloy powder having high remanence of 12 kG by reducing hydrogen pressure down to 0.3 atm in disproportionation step.

Hydrogen Generation through the Reaction with Water of MgO, MgCl2 or Ni+Nb2O5 - Added Magnesium Hydrides

  • Hydrogen was generated by the reaction of metal hydride with water. The variation of hydrogen generation with the kind of powders (milled $MgH_2$, and $MgH_2$ milled with various contents of MgO, $MgCl_2$ or $Ni+Nb_2O_5$) was investigated. $MgH_2$ powder with a hydrogen content of 6.05 wt% from Aldrich Company was used. Hydrogen is generated by the reaction of Mg as well as $MgH_2$ with water, resulting in the formation of byproduct $Mg(OH)_2$. For about 5 min of reaction time, milled $95%MgH_2+5%MgO$ has the highest hydrogen generation rate among milled $MgH_2+x%MgO$ (x=0, 5, 10, 15 and 20) samples. Milled $90%MgH_2+10%MgCl_2$ has the highest hydrogen generation rate among all the samples.

Estimation of various amounts of kaolinite on concrete alkali-silica reactions using different machine learning methods

  • In this paper, the impact of a vernacular pozzolanic kaolinite mine on concrete alkali-silica reaction and strength has been evaluated. For making the samples, kaolinite powder with various levels has been used in the quality specification test of aggregates based on the ASTM C1260 standard in order to investigate the effect of kaolinite particles on reducing the reaction of the mortar bars. The compressive strength, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) experiments have been performed on concrete specimens. The obtained results show that addition of kaolinite powder to concrete will cause a pozzolanic reaction and decrease the permeability of concrete samples comparing to the reference concrete specimen. Further, various machine learning methods have been used to predict ASR-induced expansion per different amounts of kaolinite. In the process of modeling methods, optimal method is considered to have the lowest mean square error (MSE) simultaneous to having the highest correlation coefficient (R). Therefore, to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed model, the results of the support vector machine (SVM) method were compared with the decision tree method, regression analysis and neural network algorithm. The results of comparison of forecasting tools showed that support vector machines have outperformed the results of other methods. Therefore, the support vector machine method can be mentioned as an effective approach to predict ASR-induced expansion.

규소 고분자 복합체를 이용한 반응소결 질화규소 (Reaction Bonded Si3N4 from Si-Polysilazane Mixture)

  • Reaction-bonded $Si_3N_4$ has cost-reduction merit because inexpensive silicon powder was used as a start material. But its density was not so high enough to be used for structural materials. So the sintered reaction-bonded $Si_3N_4$techniques were developed to solve the low density problem. In this study the sintered reaction-bonded $Si_3N_4$ manufacturing method by using polymer precursor which recently attained significant interest owing to the good shaping and processing ability was proposed. The formations, properties of reaction-bonded $Si_3N_4$ from silicon and polysilazane mixture were investigated. High density reaction-bonded $Si_3N_4$ was manufactured from silicon and silicon-containing preceramic polymers and post-sintering technique. The mixtures of silicon powder and polysilazane were prepared and reaction sintered in $N_2$ atmosphere at $1350^{\circ}C$ and post-sintered at 1600~$1950^{\circ}C$. Density and phase were analyzed and correlated to the resulting material properties.

분무배소법에 의해 생성되는 복합산화물 분말들의 특성에 미치는 반응인자들의 영향 (Effect of Reaction Factors on the Properties of Complex Oxide Powder Produced by Spray Roasting Process)

  • 본 연구에서는 기능성 자성재료의 원료분말을 분무배소법에 의해 제조하기 위하여 원료 용액을 효율적으로 미립화시킨 후 반응로 내로 분무시킬 수 있으며, 반응로 내부는 균일한 열분포를 이루어 열분해반응이 완전하게 진행 될 뿐만 아니라, 생성된 분말을 cyclone 및 bag filter 등의 포짐장치에서 효율적으로 포집할 수 있으며, 유해 생성가스를 청정시킬 수 있는 장치까지 포함하는 개선된 분무배소로 system을 제작하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 불순물들을 다량 함유하고 있는 mill scale 및 ferro-Mirr을 산용액에 용해 시킨 복합 산용액의 pH를 4정도로 조절하여 용액 내에 존재하는 $SiO_2$, P 및 Al 등의 불순물들을 약 20ppm 이하로 감소시킴으로써 mill scale 및 ferro-Mn의 분무열분해를 위한 원료로의 재활용 가능성을 확인하였다. 원료용액인 정제된 복합 산용액을 nozzle을 통하여 분무배소로 내부로분무시킴으로써 Fe-Mn 계의 복합 산화물 분말을 제조하였으며, 반응온도, 원료용액 및 공기의 유입속도, nozzle tip 크기 및 원료용액의 농도 등의 주요 반응조건의 변화에 따른 생성분말의 특성 변화를 파악하였다. 생성된 분말들의 형상은 대부분의 반응조건에서 구형을 나타내고 있었으며, 조성 및 입도분포가 매우 균일하게 혼합된 형태로 나타남으로써 본 연구에 의해 제작된 분무배소로 system의 우수성을 확인할 수 있었다. 한편 본 반응조건 하에서 생성된 분말들의 결정입도가 대부분 약 100nm 이하으 초미립상태이면서 형상 및 입도분포가 매우 균일하다는 사실은 본 연구에서 제작한 분무배소, system을 이용함에 의해 Fe, Mn, Ni, Cu 및 회토류계 염화물로부터 초미립의 산화를 분말을 제조할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 반응분위기의 변화에 따라 초미립 순금속분말의 제조도 충분히 가능할 것으로 사료된다.
