  • Selection-type relaying protocol, which is one of cooperative relaying protocols, provides low decoding complexity and improved system performance due to selection diversity. In this paper, we deal with linear precoding technique that minimize the error probability of cooperative MIMO system. Under the assumption that full channel state information is available at whole nodes, linear source and relay precoders, which minimize mean squared error of the estimated symbol vector, are proposed. Moreover, unlikely to the conventional selection-type relaying protocol using a fixed threshold signal-to-noise-ratio, new transmission link selection algorithm selects direct link or relay link as a transmission link, is introduced. Simulation results show that the proposed linear precoder with the transmission link selection algorithm outperforms the conventional precoders for two-hop relaying protocols or selection-type relaying protocols.

  • Genetic parameters of growth traits were estimated in the German Angora rabbit reared in the sub-temperate region of India. Estimates of (co)variance components were obtained for body weights at weaning (42 days) and post-weaning at 84, 126 and 168 days. A total of 8,324 animal records were used for the analysis of these traits. The data were analyzed by restricted maximum likelihood (REML) fitting six animal models with various combinations of direct and maternal effects. A log likelihood ratio test was used to select the most appropriate univariate model for each trait. Direct heritability estimates were observed to be moderate for the traits under study. Heritability estimates for weaning (42 d), 84, 126 and 168 d weights obtained from the best models were $0.25{\pm}0.05$, $0.17{\pm}0.05$, $0.21{\pm}0.06$ and $0.12{\pm}0.05$. Maternal effects had higher importance at weaning, and declined with the advancement of age. Significant maternal permanent environmental effect on weaning and post-weaning weights was a carryover effect of maternal influences during pre-weaning age. The estimated repeatabilities of doe effects on body weights were 0.37, 0.22, 0.18 and 0.28 at weaning, 84, 126 and 168 d body weight, respectively. Results indicated that modest rate of genetic progress is possible for body weight traits of Angora rabbit through selection. Similarly, these growth traits could be included in selection criteria along with wool traits for early selection of the animals.

  • This study analyzed consumer public complaint behaviors and the satisfaction of complaint handling among credit card users who availed of credit card services. Relatively little research has been done in this area, despite the obvious importance of understanding and improving credit card market conditions. The purpose of this study was to examine consumer compliant behaviors with a focus on public actions, such as voice responses and the third party actions among credit card users. With the goal of providing consumers with more positive expectations of credit card companies' complaint handling process, this study investigated the status of public actions and the negative effect of complaints on the overall satisfaction of post-complaint behavior toward credit card services. The responses from 1,000 credit card users were analyzed using descriptive analysis, factor analysis, multi-logit analysis, and Heckman selection estimate. The analysis provided three major results: (1) perceived service quality among credit card users was conceptualized into groups such as responsiveness, innovation, company, additional service, and fee, (2) perceived service qualities, age, residential area, employment status, and subjective economic status had significant effect on public compliant action behaviors, and (3) unidimensional factors resulting from post-complaint behaviors were analyzed and several variables, such as period of credit card use, average amount used, and perceived service quality had significant effects on the degree of satisfaction associated with complaint handling in terms of credit card services. Several implications and directions for further research are discussed.

  • To date, there are no protocols optimized to the effective separation of spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) from testicular cells derived from mouse testes, thus hindering studies based on mouse SSCs. In this study, we aimed to determine the most efficient purification method for the isolation of SSCs from mouse testes among previously described techniques. Isolation of SSCs from testicular cells derived from mouse testes was conducted using four different techniques: differential plating (DP), magnetic-activated cell sorting (MACS) post-DP, MACS, and positive and negative selection double MACS. DP was performed for 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16 h, and MACS was performed using EpCAM ($MACS^{EpCAM}$), Thy1 ($MACS^{Thy1}$), or GFR ${\alpha}1$ ($MACS^{GFR{\alpha}1}$) antibodies. The purification efficiency of each method was analyzed by measuring the percentage of cells that stained positively for alkaline phosphatase. DP for 8 h, $MACS^{Thy1}$ post-DP for 8 h, $MACS^{GFR{\alpha}1}$, positive selection double $MACS^{GFR{\alpha}1/EpCAM}$, and negative selection double $MACS^{GFR{\alpha}1/{\alpha}-SMA}$ were identified as the optimal protocols for isolation of SSCs from mouse testicular cells. Comparison of the purification efficiencies of the optimized isolation protocols showed that, numerically, the highest purification efficiency was obtained using $MACS^{GFR{\alpha}1}$. Overall, our results indicate that $MACS^{GFR{\alpha}1}$ is an appropriate purification technique for the isolation of SSCs from mouse testicular cells.

  • To determine the effects of genetic and environmental influences on cell mediated immune (CMI) responses in broiler rabbits, contact sensitivity to 2,4-Dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) was assessed in three temperate broiler breeds of rabbits, namely Soviet Chinchilla, New Zealand White and Grey Giant. The feasibility of using the contact sensitivity to DNCB as a marker trait in selection for disease resistance was examined. There were highly significant differences between breeds (p<0.01) in initial skin thickness and contact sensitivities to DNCB at 24, 48 and 72 hours. Initial skin thickness was greatest in the Soviet Chinchilla breed (mean 2.2484 mm), and was significantly greater (p<0.01) in males (2.4963 mm) than in females (1.7846 mm) (p<0.01). Highest contact sensitivity to DNCB was in the New Zealand White breed with mean increase in skin thickness of 1.1884, 0.9072 and 0.5879 mm at 24, 48 and 72 hours post challenge respectively. Delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) reaction to DNCB at 24 hours post challenge had a highly significant association (p<0.01) with the incidence of body mange in rabbits. The results indicated a lowered contact sensitivity to DNCB at 24 hours post challenge was associated significantly (p<0.01) with an increase in incidence and severity of body mange, suggesting its potential value as a marker. The correlation s among contact sensitivities at 24, 48 and 72 hours were positive and highly significant (p<0.01); correlations between initial skin thickness and contact sensitivities were negative and highly significant (p<0.01). Another notable significant correlation was between body weight and delayed type hypersensitivity at 24 hours indicating that an enhanced CMI might be associated with better growth rate and general wellbeing.

  • It is estimated that the elderly will constitute 24.3% of the entire Korean population in 2030, when about 7,125,000 baby boomers reach retirement age. Therefore, this aging phenomenon might be the most urgent issue facing Korean society. The baby boom generation shows a strong tendency to dispose of existing residences or move into new housing after retirement, thereby exerting enormous impacts on social and economic sectors as well as the housing market. Against this backdrop, this study aims to identify both factors and patterns behind baby boomer retirees' post-retirement housing transfer trends. To this end, a survey is undertaken here with respect to those baby boomers living in Gangnam-gu and Seocho-gu with actual housing transfer plans in the foreseeable future, and who can act as a practical consumer group for the future housing market. This study verifies baby boomers' diverse preferences for housing type. Their preference for apartment houses still remains high in every situation, and this has significant implications for changed preferences of other housing types considering that most of the survey respondents currently reside in apartment houses. According to the survey, there are more than 80 kinds of baby boomers' housing transfer patterns, which demonstrates that more than half of the survey respondents pursue different housing mobility plans. When it comes to the factors behind their housing selection, the baby boom generation shows a strong preference for physical factors. However, environmental and psychological factors gain more momentum under unfavorable circumstances, while social factors play a decisive role in their housing selection in categories such as 'couple/deteriorating health' and 'single/healthy'.

  • Recently as the esthetic concerns about dental prosthesis have been increased, the nonmetallic post and core systems have been introduced clinically to improve the color and the low optical transmittance of conventional casting metal post and core systems. The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the optical transmittance and the shade changes of all-ceramic crowns with two nonmetallic post and core systems. The experimental groups were classified as follows : Total 27 specimens(9 samples in each group) were evaluated. Group I : Natural teeth as a control group Group II : CosmoPost and $Empress^{(R)}$ core (Ivoclar-Vivadent, Liechtenstein) Group III : $LIGHT-POST^{TM}$ and $LIGHT-CORE^{TM}$ (Bisco, U.S.A.) In all group, all-ceramic crowns were fabricated with the same shade of IPS $Empress^{(R)}$ II (Ivoclar-Vivadent, Liechtenstein) after abutment preparation, and then two kinds of spectrophotometers, UV 3101 PC (Shimadzu, Japan) and CM 503i (Minolta Co. Ltd. Japan), were used to measure the optical transmittance and the color value. The following results were obtained : 1. The optical transmittance of each group without all-ceramic crowns, was siginificantly decreased in order of Group III, I and II (p<0.05). 2. The optical transmittance of each group with all-ceramic crowns cemented, were siginificantly decreased in order of Group I, II and III (p<0.05). 3. In comparison with the shade of all-ceramic crowns, there were no significant differences between groups regardless of the cementation. 4. In comparison with the shade changes in each group after the cementation of all-ceramic crowns, there were no significant differences between groups. From the above results, it is thought that the selection among materials used in this study doesn't influence greatly the esthetic restoration, because the differences of optical transmittance were so small that those were clinically insignificant.

  • PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to determine the fracture resistance and the mode of fracture of endodontically treated teeth restored with different fiber posts and all-ceramic crowns. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Two glass fiber reinforced post systems in two different sizes and polyethylene fiber ribbon in two different thicknesses (n=10) were used. The specimens, restored with all-ceramic crowns, were subjected to a compressive load (in N) delivered at a 130-degree angle to the long axis until a fracture could be noted. The results were analyzed statistically with a One-Way ANOVA test (P<.05). RESULTS. Statistically significant differences were observed between the mean fracture resistance values of Postec, Snowlight, and Kerr Connect thin specimens (P<.0095). The Postec results (395.70 N) were found to be significantly higher than the others. No statistical difference was observed among the thick specimens (P<.2657). The mean fracture resistance values of the Snowlight thick samples were found to be higher than those of the Snowlight thin samples. The specimens were always fractured around the cemento-enamel junction at the palatinal side. No post fracture was observed for the thin Snowlight and Kerr Connect specimens or for the thick Postec and Kerr Connect specimens. Among the common failure types of the specimens, the worst was observed to be the root fracture failure. The highest post dislodgement failure result (80%) was obtained from the thin Kerr Connect specimen. CONCLUSION. In terms of optimizing fracture resistance, the fiber post size selection should be done according to the forces applied to the restored teeth.

  • Different mechanisms, including transcriptional and post transcriptional processes, regulate tissue specific expression of genes. In this study, we report differences in gene/protein compositional features between apoptosis involved genes selectively expressed in human tissues. We found some correlations between codon/amino acid usage and tissue specific expression level of genes. The findings can be significant for understanding the translational selection on these features. The selection may play an important role in the differentiation of human tissues and can be considered for future studies in diagnosis of some diseases such as cancer.
