  • 본 논문은 중용량에 적합한 새로운 이중출력 LLC 공진형 DC/DC 컨버터에 관한 것으로써, 별도의 Post-regulator및 추가되는 제어 IC 없이 정밀한 이중출력이 가능한 새로운 방식의 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안된 컨버터의 제어방식은 펄스폭 변조(PWM)와 동시에 주파수 변조(PFM)를 통해 이루어지며 Master 와 Slave 출력을 각각 주파수, 듀티로 제어함으로써 Slave 출력을 위한 별도의 Post-Regulator 및 제어 IC가 필요 없기 때문에, 저가의 컨버터 구현이 가능하다. 또한 기존 LLC 공진형 DC/DC 컨버터와 같이 스위칭 소자의 영전압 스위칭이 보장되는 동시에, Post-Regulator 로 인한 손실이 없기 때문에 효율 및 발열 특성이 매우 우수하다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 컨버터의 우수성과 신뢰성 검증을 위해, 실제로 50" FHD급 PDP용 전원회로를 위한 시작품을 제작하고 이를 이용한 실험결과를 바탕으로 제안된 컨버터의 타당성을 검증한다.

Growth Performance of Transgenic Mud Loach Misgurnus mizolepis Carrying a GH Transgene Driven by Mud Loach C-Type Lectin Regulator

  • Growth hormone (GH) transgenesis in fish has the potential to improve aquaculture efficiency and capacity. However, many fast-growing transgenic fish have experienced side effects caused by excess GH expression. To overcome this unwanted issue associated with several GH transgenic mud loach Misgurnus mizolepis lines carrying GH construct driven by a strong ${\beta}$-actin regulator ($pml{\beta}$-actGH), we performed an alternative version of GH autotransgenesis using a weaker but more stable regulator, the mud loach lectin promoter. GH transgenesis with a pmlectGH construct consisting of the mud loach GH gene driven by the 2.3-kb lectin promoter exhibited significant growth stimulation. However, the extent of the growth acceleration in pmlectGH transgenics (six times maximum when assessed 2 months post hatching) was much less than that in transgenic individuals carrying the $pml{\beta}$-actGH construct. Additionally, the extraordinary gigantism that was common in $pml{\beta}$-actGH-transgenic mud loaches was diminished in transgenic loaches harboring the pmlectGH construct. Transgenic founders (pmlectGH) successfully transmitted their transgene into the next generation with up to 41% frequency. Growth stimulation also persisted in the transgenic F1 strains, with a seven-fold increase in maximum body weight at 6 months of age.

  • The meiotic process from the primordial stage to zygote in female germ cells is mainly adjusted by post-transcriptional regulation of pre-existing maternal mRNA and post-translational modification of proteins. Several key proteins such as the cell cycle regulator, Cdk1/cyclin B, are post-translationally modified for precise control of meiotic progression. The second messenger (cAMP), kinases (PKA, Akt, MAPK, Aurora A, CaMK II, etc), phosphatases (Cdc25, Cdc14), and other proteins (G-protein coupled receptor, phosphodiesterase) are directly or indirectly involved in this process. Many proteins, such as CPEB, maskin, eIF4E, eIF4G, 4E-BP, and 4E-T, post-transcriptionally regulate mRNA via binding to the cap structure at the 5' end of mRNA or its 3' untranslated region (UTR) to generate a closed-loop structure. The 3' UTR of the transcript is also implicated in post-transcriptional regulation through an association with proteins such as CPEB, CPSF, GLD-2, PARN, and Dazl to modulate poly(A) tail length. RNA interfering is a new regulatory mechanism of the amount of mRNA in the mouse oocyte. This review summarizes information about post-transcriptional and post-translational regulation during mouse oocyte meiotic maturation.

Galanin's implications for post-stroke improvement

  • Stroke leads to a variety of pathophysiological conditions such as ischemic infarct, cerebral inflammation, neuronal damage, cognitive decline, and depression. Many endeavors have been tried to find the therapeutic solutions to attenuate severe neuropathogenesis after stroke. Several studies have reported that a decrease in the neuropeptide regulator 'galanin' is associated with neuronal loss, learning and memory dysfunctions, and depression following a stroke. The present review summarized recent evidences on the function and the therapeutic potential of galanin in post-ischemic stroke to provide a further understanding of galanin's role. Hence, we suggest that galanin needs to be considered as a therapeutic factor in the alleviation of post-stroke pathologies.

  • 본 논문은 중용량 및 대용량에 적합하며 다중 출력 전원시스템의 슬림화에 유리한 새로운 LLC 공진형 DC/DC 컨버터에 관한 것으로써, 별도의 Post-regulator 및 제어 IC의 추가없이 정밀한 이중출력이 가능한 새로운 방식의 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안된 컨버터는 두 개의 트랜스를 이용하여 각 출력 단에 대한 독립된 두 개의 공진탱크를 갖기 때문에 탱크 설계가 용이하고, 다중출력을 필요로 하는 전원시스템의 소형화 및 슬림화에 유리하다. 또한 두 개의 출력을 각각 주파수와 듀티로 제어함에 따라 Post-Regulator 가 필요 없으며, 이로 인해 기존 LLC 공진형 DC/DC 컨버터에 비해 효율 및 발열 특성이 매우 우수하며, 저가의 컨버터 구현이 가능하다. 최종적으로 제안된 컨버터의 우수성과 타당성 검증을 위해, 실제로 42"" FHD급 PDP 용 전원회로를 위한 시작품을 제작하여 고찰된 실험결과를 제시한다.

Inferring Transcriptional Interactions and Regulator Activities from Experimental Data

  • Gene regulation is a fundamental process in biological systems, where transcription factors (TFs) play crucial roles. Inferring transcriptional interactions between TFs and their target genes has utmost importance for understanding the complex regulatory mechanisms in cellular systems. On one hand, with the rapid progress of various high-throughput experiment techniques, more and more biological data become available, which makes it possible to quantitatively study gene regulation in a systematic manner. On the other hand, transcription regulation is a complex biological process mediated by many events such as post-translational modifications, degradation, and competitive binding of multiple TFs. In this review, with a particular emphasis on computational methods, we report the recent advances of the research topics related to transcriptional regulatory networks, including how to infer transcriptional interactions, reveal combinatorial regulation mechanisms, and reconstruct TF activity profiles.

Antisense Oligonucleotide Therapeutics for Cystic Fibrosis: Recent Developments and Perspectives

  • Antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) technology has become an attractive therapeutic modality for various diseases, including Mendelian disorders. ASOs can modulate the expression of a target gene by promoting mRNA degradation or changing pre-mRNA splicing, nonsense-mediated mRNA decay, or translation. Advances in medicinal chemistry and a deeper understanding of post-transcriptional mechanisms have led to the approval of several ASO drugs for diseases that had long lacked therapeutic options. For instance, an ASO drug called nusinersen became the first approved drug for spinal muscular atrophy, improving survival and the overall disease course. Mutations in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene cause cystic fibrosis (CF). Although Trikafta and other CFTR-modulation therapies benefit most CF patients, there is a significant unmet therapeutic need for a subset of CF patients. In this review, we introduce ASO therapies and their mechanisms of action, describe the opportunities and challenges for ASO therapeutics for CF, and discuss the current state and prospects of ASO therapies for CF.

다중 출력 전원공급장치의 안정적 대기전력 구현을 위한 새로운 방식의 부하전류 측정기법 구현 (Stable Standby-mode Implementation of Multi-output Power Supply using a New Load Current Estimation Technique with Linear Regulator)

  • 본 논문은 다중출력 스위칭-모드 전원 공급 장치에서 변압기 2차 측의 출력전압 안정을 위하여, 일반적으로 사용하는 선형 전압조절기의 피드백 보상기의 제어신호를 이용하여 부하 전류정보를 측정하고, 모든 부하가 경부하 상태일 경우에만 대기전력 모드로 동작하도록 하였다. 기존 방식은 주제어기 출력의 부하상태에만 의존하여, 나머지 2차측 출력의 부하상태와 상관없이 대기전력을 저감하기 위한 간헐 스위칭 모드 (burst mode) 제어로 들어가는 문제가 있다. 기존의 전류센서 혹은 저항을 이용하여 부하전류 정보를 얻는 방식이 아닌 선형전압 조절기를 이용하여 시스템을 저가격화 하였으며 모든 출력이 경부하일 경우에만 대기모드로 전환 하도록 하여 출력전압의 신뢰성을 향상시켰다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 제어기 회로의 동작원리를 설명하고 시뮬레이션으로 검증 하였으며 25W급 하드웨어를 구현하여 제안된 회로를 검증한다.

Effect of 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid (2,4-D) on the Economic Parameters of the Silkworm Bombyx mori L.

  • The effect of topical application with 200,400 and 600 $\mu$g/ml 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) on the fifth larval stadium of the silkworm, B. mori, was analyzed. Larvae treated during fifth larval stadium enhanced larval, cocoon and adult parameters. The larval period was significantly decreased with increase in silk gland weight at 400 and 600 $\mu$g/ml, male cocoon weight and shel1 weight in all the treated groups and filament length and weight at 200 $\mu$g/ml treated group. Length of the ovariole, eggs per ovariole and hatching percentage increased significantly in all the treated groups when compared with those of the carrier control. This suggests that the plant growth regulator 2,4-D in addition to affecting silk production also affect reproductive performance.
