Internet was designed for network scalability and best-effort service which makes all hosts connected to Internet to be vulnerable against attack. Many papers have been proposed about attack detection algorithms against the attack using IP spoofing and DoS/DDoS attack. Purpose of DoS/DDoS attack is achieved in short period after the attack begins. Therefore, DoS/DDoS attack should be detected as soon as possible. Attack detection algorithms using false alarm rates consist of the false negative rate and the false positive rate. Moreover, they are important metrics to evaluate the attack detections. In this paper, we analyze the performance of the attack detection algorithms using the impact of false negative rate and false positive rate variation to the normal traffic and the attack traffic by simulations. As the result of this, we find that the number of passed attack packets is in the proportion to the false negative rate and the number of passed normal packets is in the inverse proportion to the false positive rate. We also analyze the limits of attack detection due to the relation between the false negative rate and the false positive rate. Finally, we propose a solution to minimize the limits of attack detection algorithms by defining the network state using the ratio between the number of packets classified as attack packets and the number of packets classified as normal packets. We find the performance of attack detection algorithm is improved by passing the packets classified as attacks.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the incidence rate of hepatitis B in the military service and to examine the effect of the asymptomatic hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAG) carries on the incidence of hepatitis B. The subject were 223,270 men who were conscripted to the Korean Army from 1991 to 1994. According to the conscripted year, four conscription cohort were constructed. At the screening examination for military service no test for hepatitis B were performed in 1991 and 1992. In 1993, a screening test for hepatitis B were performed and those who were confirmed as HBsAg positive o. showed high titers $(\geqq100IU)$ of nm glutamic-pyruvic transaminase(SGPT) were excluded from conscription. In 1994, the criteria for conscription was changed and those who were HBsAg positive were not excluded from conscription. Only those who showed $\geq$ SGPT 100IU were excluded. The main results were as follows ; 1. The positive rate of HBsAg is 5.5% in the conscripted men. 2. The incidence rates of the hepatitis B in 1991 and 1992 conscription cohort were 9.96 and 8.10 per ten thousand person-year, respectively. The incidence rate of the hepatitis B was 1.34 per ten thousand person-year in 1993 conscription cohort which was confirmed as HBsAg negative at the screning test, and 7.41 per ten thousand person-year in 1994 conscription cohort which included the HBsAg positive. 3. The incidence rate of hepatitis B was 99.98 per ten thousand person-year in HBsAg positive group and 2.25 per ten thousand person-year in HBsAg negative group. The incidence rate of the group with high SGPT and HBsAg positive was 255 times higher than that of normal population. 4. The incidence of hepatitis B in HBsAg negative group did not increase even though the probability of personal contact with HBsAg positive had been increased. from the above results, the men who have high SGPT with HBsAg positive should be excluded from military service, and it can not be said that asymptomatic HBsAg carriers influence on the hepatitis B incidence among the HBsAg negative through personal contact.
The present study was designed to elucidate the recent prevalence of the intestinal protozoa and to demonstrate the relationship on prevalence of the surveyed population with their academic career and living conditions. During the period from May to July 1981, total 2, 735 fecal specimens were collected from the inhabitants of 11 areas in Gyeong-gi Do(province) near by Seoul City, and 6 areas in Jeonra Bug Do, southwestern part of Korea. The samples were fixed with SAF solution and were examined by formalin-ether sedimentation technique. The results are summarised as follows: 1, Overall positive rate of intestinal protozoa was 11. l% : Gyeong-gi Do, 10.7%; Jeonra Bug Do, 11.7%. 2. Five species of intestinal protozoa were detected: Entamoeba histolytica 0.69% : Entamoeba cali 5.52%; Endolimax nana 2.71%, Giardia lamblia 2.23%; lodamoeba biitschlii 0.18%. 3. Highest positive rates among the examined areas were recognized: Incheon City of Gyeong-gi Do, 26.7%; Im-sil Gun(county) of Jeonra Bug Do, 19.9%. 4. By species, E. nana showed the highest prevalence rate (13.74%) in Incheon City, and E. histolytica (2.37%) and E. coli (9.95%) in Im-sil Gun. 5. Prevalence of E. histolytica in rural areas was higher than in urban areas. 6. No significant difference in the prevalence rate by sect and age was recognized, although the group under 10 years and over 60 years were lower than in other age groups. 7, The highest positive rate of E. histolytica was observed in pauper group and significant linearity of prevalence rate of E. histozytica by monthly income was observed. 8. The inhabitants who used conventional latrine showed higher prevalence, 11.5%, than the group of inhabitants who used modified privy. 9. Although no significant difference of positive rate was recognized by academic career, but the lowest prevalence rate was observed in college graduates. 10. Over half of the surveyed population, 64.8% has no experience on anthelmintic practice. Number of anthelmintic application resulted no difference in prevalence. In conclusion, prevalences of intestinal protozoa in Gyeong-gi Do and Jeonra Bug Do decreased remarkably in comparison with those of one decade before. However, economic level, academic career and anthelmintic administration seemed no essential reasons for such declination.
In this study, Gram-positive bacilli (GPB) were identified by MALDI-TOF MS and analyzed according to the quaternary and microbial strains in the blood culture medium over a two year period at a university hospital. The results were as follows. The overall positive rate of blood culture was 9.97%. In 713 isolated GPB, 410 strains (57.5%) were identified using a microflex MALDI Biotyper. The positive rate of GPB among the blood culture positive bacteria was 8.2%, and the quarterly isolation rate was 9.8% in the third quarter of 2015, 8.7% in the second quarter of 2016, 8.1% in the third quarter of 2016, 8.1% in the first quarter of 2015, 7.9% in the first quarter of 2015, 7.9% in the second quarter of 2015, 6.8% in the first quarter of 2016, and 6.7% in the fourth quarter of 2015. The isolates were Corynebacterium striatum 89 (12.4%), Bacillus cereus 60 (8.4%), Bacillus subtilis 30 (4.2%), Paenibacillus urinalis 29 (4.1%), and Listeria monocytogenes 25 (3.5%). The results of 16S rRNA sequencing of 43 isolates (86.0%) were consistent with those of the other 50 isolates. Five out of the seven unmatched weeks were not identified by MALDI-TOF MS.
A serological survey for antibody of Leptospira spp. in canine was carried out from March to September, 1989 in Seoul. 182 serums collected from animal hospitals and keeping were collected and these were performed by using 12 different living antigens. In the microscopic agglutination test(MAT), being partial agglutination reaction at a serum dilution of 1:200 or over, we recorded it as positive. These results were compared with the species, sex and general conditions of canines, the areas and types of animal keeping. The results were summarized as followed ; 1. We detected the antibodies L. grippotyphosa 1 and L. icteroheamorrhagiae 1 in A area(total 48 heads ), L. canicola 1 and L. icterohaemorrhagiae 4 in B area(total 52 heads), L. hardjo 1 and L. icterohaemorrhagiae 2 in C area (total 32 heads), L. icterohaemorrhagiae 1 in D area(total 23 heads) L. grippotyposa 1 and L. icterohaemorrhagiae 2 in E area(total 27 heads) by MAT. There were positives for L. canicola 1, L. grippotyposa 2, L. hardjo 1 and L. icterohaemorrhagiae 10 in 5 areas by MAT. 2. The deteclive rate of leptospiral antibody in Jindo canine was 17.6% (3) among 17, Mixed 4.4% (4) among 90 and Exotic 9.3% (7) among 75 heads. 3. The Male(91 heads) was positive for 8.7%(8) and the female(91 heads) was positive for 6.5%(6). 4. In the vaccination, positive rate was 10.3% (7) among 55 heads, and in the unvaccination, positive rate was 5.5%(7) among 127 heads.
The prevalence of candidiasis, a contagious disease with high morbidity and mortality, has sharply increased globally over the last two decades. Candida albicans can cause serious infections in patients with weak immunity and in recipients of prolonged antibiotic treatment. Consequently, rapid and accurate identification of species can play an important role in the treatment of candidiasis. Here, we investigated the positive rate and infection trend of C. albicans according to age, specimen type, and sex using multiplex real-time polymerase chain reaction-based testing of samples collected for the diagnosis of sexually transmitted diseases in Korea between 2018 and 2020. When the type of specimen collected was a swab, the positive rate of C. albicans was higher among younger women, and tended to decrease with age. Analysis of swab samples revealed higher positive rates than urinalysis. The reduction trend in positive rates by age was comparable between the overall samples and urine specimens. Among male patients, the positive rate did not differ substantially across the various types of specimens collected. Previous studies have shown a higher prevalence of non-albicans Candida species than C. albicans in clinical specimens, and exclusion of the former from our analysis may be a limitation of this study. However, our findings contribute significantly to the literature because globally, there is a paucity of epidemiological studies using molecular techniques to detect C. albicans in sexually transmitted disease test samples.

Objectives: Previous study has shown that the positive rate of latent tuberculosis infection(LTBI) among former workers in dusty environments was higher than that among high-risk groups of tuberculosis(TB). The objective of the present study was to identify the development of active TB among former workers in dusty environments diagnosed with LTBI. Methods: Between January 2015 and May 2017, 796 former workers in dusty environments who had been subjects of epidemiology research for work-related chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) had received the QuantiFERON-TB® Gold In-Tube(QFT-GIT) from the Institute of Occupation and Environment(IOE) under the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service(KCOMWEL). Among them, 437 participants who received a health examination for work-related pneumoconiosis between January 2015 and December 2018 were selected as study subjects. Active TB was defined as a positive result for active PTB and non-tuberculosis mycobacteria infection in the result of the Pneumoconiosis Examination Council's assessment by KCOMWEL. Results: A total of 437 subjects were followed up for 2.1 years. Four of them(4/437, 0.9%) developed active TB during the follow-up period. The attack rate of active TB among subjects who were diagnosed LTBI positive and those who were diagnosed LTBI negative were 0.9%(3/320) and 0.9%(1/115), respectively. Conclusions: Most previous studies reported that the attack rate of the development of active TB in subjects who had been diagnosed LTBI positive was higher than that among subjects who had been diagnosed LTBI negative. To the contrary, the present study found that the rate of developing active TB among former workers in dusty environments diagnosed as LTBI positive was not higher than that in those who were diagnosed LTBI negative.
Significant literature exists on the area under the ROC curve (AUC) and the volume under the ROC surface (VUS) which are statistical measures of the discriminant power of classification models. Whereas the partial AUC is restricted on the false positive rate, the two-way partial AUC is restricted on both the false positive rate and true positive rate, which could be more efficient and accurate than partial AUC. The two-way partial AUC was suggested as more efficient and accurate than the partial AUC. Partial VUS as well as the three-way partial VUS were also developed for the ROC surface. A proposed AUC is expressed in this paper with probability and integration using two truncated distribution functions restricted on both the false positive rate and true positive rate. It is also found that this AUC has a relation with the two-way partial AUC. The three-way partial VUS for the ROC surface is also related to the VUS using truncated distribution functions. These AUC and VUS are represented and estimated in terms of Mann-Whitney statistics. Their parametric and non-parametric estimation methods are explored based on normal distributions and random samples.
This study analyzes the effect of misalignment exchange rate on economic performance asymmetrically. The results show that the over valuation of the real effective exchange rate of won has a significant positive relationship with economic performance. The under valuation of the real effective exchange rate of won has a positive effect on economic performance, but it is not significant. This is due to the high ratio of re-exports of intermediate goods despite Korea being an export-oriented country. In Japan, the undervaluation of the exchange rate has a negative impact on economic performance.

Many IP address lookup approaches employ Bloom filters to obtain a high-speed search performance. Especially, it has been recently studied that the search performance of trie-based algorithms can be significantly improved by adding Bloom filters. In such algorithms, the number of trie accesses can be greatly reduced because Bloom filters can determine whether a node exists in a trie without actually accessing the trie. Bloom filters do not have false negatives but have false positives. False positives can lead to unnecessary trie accesses. The false positive rate must thus be reduced to enhance the performance of lookup algorithms applying Bloom filters. One important characteristic of trie-based algorithms is that all the ancestors of a node are also stored. The proposed algorithm utilizes this characteristic in reducing the false positive rate of a Bloom filter without increasing the size of the memory for the Bloom filter. When a Bloom filter produces a positive result for a node of a trie, we propose to check whether the ancestors of the node are also positives. Because Bloom filters have no false negatives, the negatives of any of the ancestors mean that the positive of the node is false. In other words, we propose to use more Bloom filter queries to reduce the false positive rate of a Bloom filter in trie-based algorithms. Simulation results show that querying one ancestor of a node can reduce the false positive rate by up to 67% with exactly the same architecture and the same memory requirement. The proposed approach can be applied to other trie-based algorithms employing Bloom filters.
