This study compared parenting characteristics(attitude, stress, cooperation from the spouse and agreements on disciplines) between parents of gifted(n=126) and ordinary(n=153) children age 10-15. Results revealed that parents with gifted children reported more positive parenting characteristics even though they felt the similar parenting stress to ordinary parents. In both groups there were significant correlations among these parenting characteristics. There were negative correlations among parenting stress, cooperation from the spouse and agreement on disciplinary methods. Separate regression analyses indicated that agreement on disciplinary methods was a significant predictor for parenting attitude among parents with the gifted while in addition to it, parenting stress was also significant for parents with ordinary children. Implications such as parenting education and fatherhood were discussed.
Objectives: The major purpose of the study is to examine structural relation among teenager's perception of parenting attitudes, peer attachment, resilience and meaning in life. In order to achieve purpose of the study, we will develop reliable criterion which can measure variable. Method: We will set up structural relational model from relationship between internal and external variables that can influence teenager's meaning in life and we will examine the relationship between variables through structural equation analysis. we will find structural relationship among parenting attitudes, peer attachment, resilience and meaning in life. Results: We analyzed structural relationship among variables targeting 744 middle school and high school students. Teenager's perception of parenting attitudes have positive influence on peer attachment. This shows that teenager perception of fostering attitude have a positive influence even though teenager percepts parent's foster attitude as overprotective or compassionate. However, if teenager percept fostering attitude as overprotective, teenager perception of parenting attitudes doesn't have influence on resilience. Parent's compassionate attitude not only directly influence resilience but also influence resilience through peer attachment. This validates that individual psychological factor, such as how teenager accept and interpret surrounding environment can influence resilience. Peer attachment relationship not only directly influence resilience but also influence meaning of life through resilience. The resilience has direct effect on meaning in life. Conclusions: When one of education goal is to help teenager to find meaning in life and to reach self-realization, We need to have interest in resilience which is known factor for contributing meaning in life. As previous teenager studies has approached this problem, such as maladjustment, delinquency, and depression, it is significant that this study is examined in positive a psychological perspective which focus on healthy adjustment, such as meaning in life based on teenager's resilience and happiness.
The purpose of this study was to investigate marital satisfaction, parenting attitude and the practice of Taegyo and to examine the relationship between marital satisfaction, parenting attitude and the practice of Taegyo for pregnant women. The sample included 234 pregnant women who participated in Pregnant Education Programs in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. We analyzed the data which were collected by means of a questionnaire from June to September, 2012 and the data was analyzed with the t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and Regression analysis by SPSS 19.0. The results were summarized as follows: First, the level of marital satisfaction and practice of Taegyo was relatively high. On the other hand the level of emotional value of parenting attitude was higher than that of instrumental value. Second, the group of higher marital satisfaction revealed a higher practice of Taegyo and also in the group of higher emotional and instrumental value of parenting attitude, the practice of Taegyo was high. Third, there was a positive relationship between marital satisfaction(respect, care, parent role, and housework role), parenting attitude(emotional value, instrumental value) and the practice of Taegyo such as food Taegyo, place Taegyo, language Taegyo, emotional Taegyo and behavior Taegyo. The significant factors influencing the practice of Taegyo was connected with parent role, housework role of marital satisfaction, and instrumental value of parenting attitude.

This study was intended to investigate the effects of parenting attitude of mothers of multicultural family and sensory processing skills of children on school readiness of preschool children. This study conducted Maternal Behavior Instrument(MBRI), Short Sensory Profile(SSP), and School readiness test on children of multicultural family and their mothers who are residing in Gwangju and Jeonnam, and results are as follows. According to the result of parenting attitude of mothers of multicultural family showed that total score 165.72±24.19. According to the result of investigating a correlation between parenting attitude of mothers of multicultural family and sensory processing skills of children on school readiness, only parenting attitude of mothers of multicultural family showed positive relationship with school readiness of children(p<.05). According to the result of investigating the effects of parenting attitude of mothers of multicultural family and sensory processing skills of children on school readiness, it was identified that parenting attitude of mothers of multicultural family makes significant effect on school readiness of children. To sum up, it is considered that parents education required for developing positive parenting attitude of mothers of multicultural family and mediations related to school readiness for school life adaptation of children of multicultural family are necessary for children of multicultural family to get adjusted to school life easily after they enter school.

The purpose of this study is to propose measure for the effects of perceived parenting attitudes and emotional problems on life satisfaction among adolescents in single parent families with the parent resource perspective. The study consisted of 230 first grade middle school students from single parent (living with either mother or father only) families in the 4th year panel (2013) of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS), National Youth Policy Institute (NYPI). All statistical data analyses were performed using SPSS version 21.0. The findings of this study are as follows. First, lower levels of depression and aggression were found among adolescents who perceived parenting attitude as more affectionate. On the contrary, higher levels of depression and aggression were detected among adolescents who perceived parenting attitude as more intrusiveness. The more the inconsistent parenting practices perceived by adolescents, the higher the degree of depression. Second, a higher level of life satisfaction was found among adolescent who were more likely to perceive positive parenting attitudes including monitoring, affection and reasoning. However, there was no significant correlation between negative parenting behavior and life satisfaction. Third, a lower level of life satisfaction was observed among adolescent who were more likely to perceive emotional problems such as depression, aggression and social withdrawal. Fourth, according to the analysis on the effects of parenting attitudes and emotional problems on life satisfaction, affection parenting of all positive parenting styles and depression among emotional problems had an impact on life satisfaction. The more affectionate a parent is with his/her children in parenting, the lower the degree of depression in adolescents, and the lower degree of depression in adolescents, the higher degree of life satisfaction was found among adolescents from single parent households.
Purpose: This study was conducted to describe the relationship of perception of parenting attitude, behavior problems and resilience of school age children. Methods: Participants were 131 children enrolled in the 4th to 6th grades. Data were collected from November 29 to December 6, 2010 using a self-report questionnaire. The questionnaire included the Parental Bonding Instrument, Korean version of Youth Self-Report, and Resilience. Data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0 program. Results: There were significant differences in resilience according to gender, relationship with peers, academic achievement and school satisfaction. Resilience showed a positive correlation with parental bonding attitude and negative correlation with problem behavior in the children. Conclusion: This result suggests that interventions focusing on parenting attitude to enhance resilience should be developed to help school age children.

This this study was performed to examine the dyadic relationship between mothers and fathers in their value of the child, parenting stress, and parenting attitude. After providing the basic data to understand the parental interaction patterns of parenting attitudes. A total of 1,542 couples from the 6th year Panel Study of Korean Children (PSKC) were included and analyzed using SPSS 18.0, AMOS 18.0. Thus, the value of the child was higher in fathers than in mothers; however, parenting stress and parenting attitude were higher in mothers than in fathers. There were positive correlations among value of child, parenting stress, and parenting attitude. Moreover, the parents' value of the child shows an actor effect in parenting stress. Moreover, the value of the child and parenting stress show actor effect in parenting attitude. In this study, many variables were found to have only an actor effect; however, the parenting stress of the mother was found to have a partner effect of lowering the parenting attitude of the father. This study is significant as it confirms the relationship among the value of child, parenting stress, and parenting attitude based on the APIM analysis method that considers the characteristics of couple data.
The purpose of this study is to increase our understanding of subjective well-being in adolescents and to help improve it by investigating the relationship among adolescents' temperaments, perceived parenting affective attitude and subjective well-being. For this study, the subjects were 354 students from 4 different middle schools in Gwang-ju, Korea. The statistical analysis of the data was conducted by means of the SPSS 21.0 program using Pearson's correlations and hierarchical regression. The results are as follows: First, the temperament and perceived parenting affective attitude were correlated with subjective well-being. Among the temperament traits, novelty seeking and harm avoidance showed negative correlations with subjective well-being, whereas affection, reward dependence and persistence showed positive correlations with subjective well-being. Second, after the mediating effect of perceived affection on subjective well-being was confirmed, three temperament traits, viz. harm avoidance, reward dependence, and persistence, were identified as mediating factors. The conclusion of this study is that adolescents' temperament and perceived parenting affective attitude are related to their subjective well-being and can also predict their subjective well-being. Harm avoidance, reward dependence, and persistence, which are inborn temperaments, affect subjective well-being. Affection, which is a perceived parenting affective attitude trait, affects subjective well-being as a mediation variable. This study also suggests that it is more effective to influence perceived parenting affective attitude, which has growth potential, rather than temperaments which are hard to change.
The aim of this study is to search for a direction to reduce adolescents' mobile phone dependency. The fourth data for 4th graders who were 1,972 of 7th from the 2013 Korea Children & Youth Panel Survey were used. SPSS 21.0 was used. In addition, the mediating effects of ego-resiliency and gender-moderating effects between positive parenting attitude and mobile phone dependency were analyzed through descriptive statistics, data analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results found the followings: Positive parenting attitude increased ego-resiliency while lowering mobile phone dependency. Ego-resiliency had a negative influence on mobile phone dependency and mediating effects between the two variables. Gender had a moderating effect between two variables. Based on the above results, this study suggested a direction to cope with the problems which can result from the excessive use of mobile phone for both parents and their children.
Purpose: The main purpose of this study was to describe the relationship of mothers' parenting attitude as perceived by the child to self-esteem, and school adjustment of school age children with Tetrology of Fallot (TOF). Methods: In this study a self-administered questionnaire survey was used to collect the data. The participants included 38 children who were registered in a pediatric cardiology clinic in one tertiary medical center. Their ages were between 11 and 15 years. They were diagnosed with TOF, and had no other congenital problems. Data were collected from November 1 to November 30, 2009. After obtaining telephone consent from the mothers and children, questionnaires were mailed to 64 participants and 38 questionnaires were returned. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) WIN 15.0 version. Results: There was a significant correlation between perceived parenting attitude, self-esteem, and school adjustment of children with TOF. Conclusion: Children who perceive their mothers' parenting attitude to be more positive also report higher self-esteem and better school adjustment. These findings are similar to other studies done with healthy school age children. However, parents of children with TOF may require different parenting approaches to foster positive self-esteem and school adjustment.
