Strategies for Information Requirements Analysis for Agricultural Management Information System Developments (농업 정보 시스템 개발을 위한 정보 요구 분석 전략)

  • This study proposes strategies for information requirements analysis (IRA) for successful agricultural management information system (MIS) development. The study frist defines IRA based on literature review and emphasizes the importance of IRA by its position in SDLC (System Developments Life Cycle). Then, the study reviews fifteen cases of agricultural MIS development projects appeared in the report of all the MIS related ARPC(Agricultural R&D Promotion Center) projects from 1995 to 1998 and finds that IRA is not properly performed in most of the projects. Finally, this study proposes seven strategies for IRA for successful agricultural MIS development based on the finding of this study and those from the literature related to IRA methods.

A Study on the Feature Region Segmentation for the Analysis of Eye-fundus Images (안저영상 해석을 위한 특징영역의 분할에 관한 연구)

  • Information about retinal blood vessels can be used in grading disease severity or as part of the process of automated diagnosis of diseases with ocular menifestations. In this paper, we address the problem of detecting retinal blood vessels and optic disk (papilla) in eye-fundus images. We introduce an algorithm for feature extraction based on Fuzzy Clustering algorithm (fuzzy c-means). A method of finding the optic disk (papilla) is proposed in the eye-fundus images. Additionally, the inrormations such as position and area of the optic disk are extracted. The results are compared to those obtained from other methods. The automatic detection of retinal blood vessels and optic disk in the eye-rundus images could help physicians in diagnosing ocular diseases.

  • The effect of irradiation of x-ray to developing rat mandible in the gestation stage was focused on the study of mandible development and the side effect of x-ray irradiation. The author studied the effect of x-ray irradiation with the gestated rat and their off'springs. 100 rads, 200 rads, 300 rads and 400 rads of x-ray was irradiated in regular order schematically at the lower left abdomen of gestated rat. 18½days after conception, their off'springs were sacrificed and exaimined their developing mandible with histological findings. The results were as followed. 1. In the 100-200 rads irradiated rat off'springs, bony trabeclulation was revealed irregular shape. In combine with this finding, osteoblast and fibroblast were appeared shrunken of their nucleus and location of eccentric position. 2. In the 300-400 rads irradiated rat off'springs, decrease of fibroblast and osteoblast appearance in the periosteum were prominently observed and empty lacunae were frequently appeared in their bone matrix. 3. The advent of osteoclast and resorption of cortical bone were appeared in proportion to increasing of x-ray irradiation.

Offset Slider-Rocker Linkage Synthesis Using Transmission Angles as Synthesis Parameters (전달각을 이용한 오프셋 슬라이더-로커 링크장치의 합성)

  • An analytical synthesis technique for offset slider-rocker 4-bar linkages is devised where transmission angles are used as essential synthesis parameters. Finding the location where both the maximum and the minimum transmission angles arise leads to establishing the algorithm for limiting transmission angles of the slider-rocker linkage which has different offsets according to the direction of the slider. Position analysis by the algorithm gives formula for the dimensional synthesis for the linkage. Application to examples shows that the algorithm and the formula yield proper slider-rocker linkages with regard to limiting transmission angles to the maximum value.

  • A case of Annuloaortic Ectasia associated with Marfan syndrome and mitral regurgitation is treated surgically by Bentall`s method and mitral annuloplasty. The Annuloaortic Ectasia is frequently accompanied with Marfan syndrome, its definition is simply explained as the following; the marked dilatation of the sinuses of Valsalva and the aortic annulus as well as the huge aneurysm of the ascending aorta. As the operative finding, the intimal tearing was shown as circular and the both coronary ostia were changed the position into high up. The patient was taken a corrective operation replacing the ascending aorta and aortic valve with a composite graft[St. Jude medical valve 29mm, woven Dacron tubular graft 31mm]. The both coronary ostia were reimplanted on the graft with 4-0 prolene by continuous suture. Mitral annuloplasty was performed. After the operation, the patient developed both spontaneous pneumothorax, he improved state by the closed thoracostomy. He has been doing well, postoperatively.

  • This paper presents an efficient algorithm for including the kinematic calibration data into the motion controller to improve the positioning accuracy of the manipulators. Rather than spending several iterations for finding the inverse solution of the calibrated kinematics, our approach requires only the nominal inverse solution and the calibrated forward kinematics for providing a better position command promptly. Thus, real-time application is guaranteed whenever the manipulators nominal inverse solution can be expressed in a closed form. Experimental results show that the line tracking performances can be remarkably improved by employing our algorithm.

  • A novel technique has been proposed and related experimental works have been performed in order to detect the partial discharges and the location of the possible defects introduced into the Gas Insulated Switchgear. For this purpose, a prototype HY Pockels sensor has been developed and then employed in order to investigate its field applicability for finding the location of the defects using a 170kV GIS mock-up. Our proposed sensor enables us to measure the electric field variation due to the PD occurrence. In addition, the different PD patterns are observed, which might be dependant on the location and the distance of the sensor with respect to the PD source. Throughout this work, its linear response has been proved to be admissible as a function of the applied voltage. And also the position of the PD source might be distinguished by comparing the PD patterns.

  • The purpose of this research is to develope a FEM program for analyzing solidification processes of axisymmetric casting, considering phase changes and the contact between the metal and mold. Tempera- ture recovery method is employed fro considering the phase changes releasing the latent heat and the coin- cident node method is used for calculating the amount of heat transfer between the metal and mold. Tan- gent modulus algorithm is adopted for calculating flow stress and a gap element is employed for modeling the interface between the mold and metal in finding deformed shapes. In order to verify the developed program, axisymmetric aluminum and steel casting processes are simulated. Temperature distribution, phase front position, and shrinkage and porosity creation are compared with measurements, FIDAP results, and good agreements are examined.

  • This paper proposes a new method for measuring the power of spherical and cylindrical lens with 6 points light source, which is composed of a LED and six holes, and magnification ellipse fitting algorithm. Each measured diagonal length of 6 points light source is determined by the target lens power. After finding the center position of each light point with threshold method, 3 axis-diagonal lengths were calculated. The long axis and short axis power of cylindrical lens can be calculated by using magnification ellipse fitting algorithm with the magnification relationships between the initial diagonal lengths and the measured diagonal lengths changed by lens power.

  • In this paper, we consider with a market pioneering game among symmetric firms in highly competitive situation. To describe the puzzling situation of timing competition, we construct a dynamic game model and explore the equilibrium solution. As a result, we find a subgame perfect mixed strategy Nash equilibrium conceptually defined by 't$_{0}$ + .elsilon. equilibrium'. Our major finding s include : i) market entry will be occurred in sequential manner even though the condition of each firm is symmetric ii) the optimal timing of market pioneering will be advanced until almost all of the monopolist's profit is dissipated, iii) as the market position of the pioneer is stronger, the timings of the pioneer and the follower are separated, iv) and as the slope of the profit flow is steeper, the entry timing of the two players will be pooled together.
