  • A portable mould oscillation analyzer with an integrated computer, developed by POSCO, records the movement of the mould in every spatial direction. The system uses the gap sensors to measure the mould movement (displacement) in two horizontal directions according to the mould narrow and broad faces and the vertical strokes in the four corners of mould. The gap sensor is a non-contacting minute displacement-measuring device using the principle of high frequency eddy current loss. The mould oscillation diagnostic system integrates the gap sensors, their converters and the industrial portable computer with plug-in data acquisition boards. In an own expert module, which is included in the diagnosis program, one can obtain much information about the mould oscillation equipment.

  • Electronic Image Stabilization(EIS) is widely used as a technique for correcting a shake of an image. The case requiring the EIS function has been increased in high magnification thermal image observation on portable military equipment. Projection Algorithm(PA) for EIS is easy to implement but its performance is sensitive to the projection area. Especially, projection profiles of thermal image have very modest change and are difficult to extract image shifts between frames. In this paper, we proposed algorithm to extract a feature image for the thermal image and compared Block Matching Algorithm(BMA) with PA using our proposed feature image. When using our proposed feature image, BMA was simply implemented using FPGA's internal small memory. And we were able to obtain 30 % PSNR improved results compared to PA.

  • In this paper, we aims to develop a microcontroll er-based ECG monitoring system and portable pulse oximeter using Compact Flash Interface. First, portable pulse oximeter system is designed to record 2 channel of biosignals simultaneously, including 1 channel of $SpO_2$ and 1 channel of pulse rate. It is very small and portable. Besides, the system makes it possible to measure a patient's condition without an additional medical equipment. We tried to solve the problems generated by a patient's motion. That is, we added an analog circuit to a traditional pulse oximeter in order to eliminate the change of the base line. And we used 2D sector algorithm. As present, SpO2 modules are completed. But there are still many further development needed in order to enhance the function. Especially, compact falsh interface remains the most to complete. Second, ECG monitoring system uses almost same as present 3-lead ECG system. But we focus on the analog part, especially in filter. The proposed filter is composed of two parts. One is a filter to remove the power-line interface. The other is a filter to remove the baseline drift. A filter to remove the power-line and the baseline drift is necessarily used in the ECG system. The implemented filter have three features; minimizing the distortion in DC component, removing the harmonic component of power-line frequency. Using compact flash interface, we can easily transfer a patient's personal information and the measured signal data to a network based server environment. That means, it is possible to implement a patient's monitoring system with low cost.

  • This paper proposes a method for classifying the grade of stainless steel using a portable NIR(Near Infrared Ray) spectrometer and a CNN(Convolutional Neural Network) deep learning model. Traditionally, methods for classifying stainless steel grades have included chemical analysis, magnetic testing, molybdenum spot tests, and portable XRF devices. In addition, a classification method using a machine learning model with element concentration and heat treatment temperature as parameters was presented in the paper. However, these methods are limited in their application to everyday products, such as kitchenware and cookware, due to the need for reagents, specialized equipment, or reliance on professional services. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a simple method for classifying the grade of stainless steel using a NIR spectrometer and a CNN model. If the method presented in this paper is installed on a portable device as an on-device in the future, it will be possible to determine the grade of stainless steel used in the product, and to determine on-site whether a product made of low-cost material has been disguised as a high-cost product.

  • In order to evaluate the possible environmental lead hazard in children's playground and to test the practicability of field portable x-ray fluorescence(FPXRF) for environmental lead measurement, authors investigated lead concentration of lead-based paint on the surface of children's playing equipments in the playground of 13 apartments using FPXRF at the site in city A, Choongnam province. 93 spots were determined surface lead concentrations 3 times each using a FPXRF. Out of 93 spots, 83 spots (92%) were revealed to have lead in paint and mean concentration was $1.12{\pm}1.76mg/cm^2$. The mean concentration of lead on the surface of playing equipments at the apartments near the main street was $1.20mg/cm^2$ and higher than those at the apartments far away from the main street($0.81mg/cm^2$)(p<0.05). The mean concentration of lead on the surface of playing equipments painted with yellow color was $3.23mg/cm^2$ and the highest among all colors, whereas equipment painted white color was non-detectable. PVC and etc materials for construction of playing equipment showed higher surface lead concentration than other materials. The result suggests that it is necessary to be taken caution of the lead exposure in the playground of apartment and it should be taken any kind of confirmative action to prevent unwanted lead exposure from surface lead source of playing equipment. Authors found that FPXRF was very reliable and useful for field measurement to detect lead on the painted surface.

  • When persistent oil, such as crude oil or Bunker C oil, is spilled at sea, viscosity increases through the weathering process. Equipment that can collect this oil when mixed with floating marine debris is very limited. In this study, devices that can be attached to the outside of existing oil skimmers have been applied to the inside of the main body, to develop an unmanned conveyor belt type floating marine debris and high viscosity oil recovery skimmer, which is composed of a conveyor belt, a sweeper with a forced inflow device, and a collection tank equipped with a buoyant body. The resulting skimmer was operated at a speed of 1.2 knots at a distance of 30 m in a sea area test. It was stable when moving laterally in any direction. An oil recovery performance test was conducted using a portable storage tank, and oil was recovered from a minimum of $7.8k{\ell}/h$ to a maximum of $23.3k{\ell}/h$. Moreover, recovery of $7.7k{\ell}/h$ was obtained in a wave water tank test with floating marine debris such as PET bottles and oil mixed. If the equipment developed in this study was used in the field for oil pollution accidents, it could be expected to contribute to improved response capability. We believe our equipment could be used in further studies to improvement the performance of existing portable oil skimmers.

  • The purpose of this study is to prevent infection in the hospital by computed radiography portable and to provide basic data on infection-related education by investigating bacterial contamination level of computed radiography portable equipment using IP cassette. The results suggest that IP cassette No. 1 is infected with CNS and VRE, no. 2 with CNS, No. 3 with CNS and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, No. 4 with CNS, No. 5 with CNS and Bacillus sp., and No. 6 with enterococcus faecium. Enterococcus faecium and bacillus sp. were detected from the IP reader and Acinetobacter baumannii was detected on the mobile handle; Bacillus sp. on the control buttons, CNS and Bacillus sp. from the irradiation control handle, Acinetobacter baumannii on the x-ray generation switch, and CNS on the barcode scanner. In addition, Bacillus sp. Acinetobacter baumannii was found on the IP cassette mobile table and CNS and bacillus sp. were found on the lead apron. Acinetobacter baumannii and CNS were detected from the medical gloves worn by a radiological technologist during radiography. This suggests that IP cassette should be sterilized after use as it can hand over bacteria to IP reader and IP mobile table. Medical gloves that are in direct contact with patients should also be replaced after using them once and other supplies such as x-ray generation switch and lead apron should thoroughly be sterilized to prevent infection due to radiography as they are in a lot of contact with patients.

  • Entering the 1990s, 80 to 90 % of aircraft losses occurred due to MANPADS(Man Portable Air Defense System) attacks, and during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Ukraine used MANPADS, a type of infrared guided missile, to kill many aircraft. The importance of survival systems is increasing as aircraft are intercepted. In this paper, we present a test equipment development plan to verify that EWC, which acts as an MC of a survival system, responds optimally in real time without delay in a situation simulating an actual threat. The EWC test equipment presented in this paper not only includes functions such as interface verification and self-diagnosis, but also includes automatic EWC functional performance testing and operation scenario-based EWC logic verification functions to verify that the EWC responds optimally in real time in various threat cases.
