Butterfly Diversity, Distribution, and Abundance in the University of Port Harcourt River State, Nigeria

  • Information on butterflies in the Niger Delta Region is relatively scanty because monitoring of their activities and distribution has not been fully documented and these are paramount to establish their conservation protocols. The study therefore aimed at evaluating the species richness distribution pattern, and relative abundance of butterflies in the University of Port Harcourt. The University Park was purposively selected for this study. The park was stratified into three different habitat types (secondary forest, farmland, and residential/garden). A sampling of each stratum was done three times; twice in the morning between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm as well as once in the evening between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm along a 100 m line transects for 16 months (May 2017-August 2018). Data collected were analyzed for species diversity indices, evenness, and similarity index. A total of 1,932 individual butterflies belonging to 28 species, 18 genera, and five 5 families were identified in the study area. Species diversity and evenness were higher on farmland (1-D=0.909; H'=2.615; E=0.833), and least in the residential area/gardens (1-D=0.744; H'=1.975; E=0.659). The family Nymphalidae (39.0%) had the highest number of species occurrence while Hesperidae (0.4%) had the lowest composition. Anthene larydas (24.12%) had the highest relative abundance in the entire study area, followed by Acraea serena (17.49%). The study, therefore, recommends continuous monitoring of butterfly species diversity and composition also in other regions.

  • An understanding of importance of port has increased according to the in and out environment changes surrounding port. And the jurisdiction of physical distribution including port logistics integrated to Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs. It is a good time for review the related port law once more. Present related port law has no problems itself. But because there are many laws about port, so overlap is shown in many aspects. According to this viewpoint, this study has focused to reduce the overlap in the contents of the laws and propose the improvement methods. So as to achieve this goal, I divided study fields into three aspects. The first is the subject of port management and second is the object of port management, the third is contents of port management. And also improvement plan provided in three aspects. Improvement plan is as follows. Firstly, the diversity of management subject is reduced considerably due to the integration of government organization but the problem which what laws among the various laws would adopt to same object is still remained. So it is necessary to make into one or two laws. Secondly, in the case of object of port management, it is essential to cover the port, port facilities and port hinterland with one comprehensive law. Therefore it is important to adjust the related clauses in various laws. Thirdly, in connection with the contents of port management, port development plan or other related port business and etc. described in various laws have to cordinated. At the same time, it is desirable that the similar terminology used in various laws would be unified.

$2{\times}2$배열 피드혼 안테나용 모노 펄스 피드 설계 (Design of a Monopulse Feed for $2{\times}2$ Array Feed horn Antenna)

  • 본 논문에서는 3중 모드를 형성하는 $2{\times}2$배열 피드혼 안테나용 모노 펄스 피드를 설계 제작하고 복사 특성을 고찰하였다. 단일 피드의 경우 이득은 8.25dB의 값을 가지며,. 변환부에서 공기 중으로 연결되는 부위에 전계면으로 확장되는 구조를 갖게 함으로써 이득은 증가하고 구형 도파관과 공기 중의 반사는 저하시켰다. 급전 피드 port1과 port2는 수직으로 위치하여 개구부 혼의 두께를 얇게 함으로써 격리도는 -25dB이하의 특성을 만족하며 높은 주파수일수록 격리도는 향상됨을 확인하였다. port1과 port3은 수평으로 위치하여 전기장의 분포가 병렬로 연결되기 때문에 전기장의 결합은 적게 일어나지만 자기장의 결합이 나타나기 때문에 port1과 port2와의 격리도 보다는 최저 2dB에서 최대 6dB 향상된다. port1과 port4는 구조적으로 직접 결합은 아주 적은 양만 발생하지만, port2와 port3의 영향으로 -35dB이하가 됨을 확인 할 수 있었다.

인천항의 선박도착 분포 및 부두서비스 실태 분석에 관한 연구 (Analysis on the Distribution of Ship Arrival and the Cargo Handling Service of Inchon Port)

  • Ship's delay caused by port congestion has drawn attention to the necessity for analysis on overall operation in port. But, in order to analyze the complicated port operation which contains large number of variable factors, queueing theory is needed to be adopted, which is applicable to a large scale transportation including ship's arrival in a large port. In this paper, a simulation model for Inchon Port was developed by the software SIMAN V and presented congestion rate under a certain scenario regarding the arrival ship's number and service levels. To develop the simulation model, types of ships and cargoes during the 1995 in Inchon Port was analyzed in advance. The results of the simulation can be summarized as follows : In order to maintain present levels of congestion rate and time with the increasing number of arrival vessels, service rate should be increased at an exponential rate. To improve the current congestion effectively, part of cargoes are needed to be transferred to a newly developing port. Results obtained from simulation can be used properly to prepare improved service levels and to plan appropriate investment strategies.

  • In Pusan Harbour, new port development projects are implemented such as the Extended Terminal adjacent to the Gamman Terminal, Pusan New Port, the Navy $\bigcirc$$\bigcirc$ piers, etc. which will require new marine traffic environments in the Passage I of Pusan Harbour. Specially, the turning basin of the Extended Terminal adjacent to the Gamman Terminal has been designed to overlay the Passage I of Pusan Harbour, which will interrupt the inbound traffic flow and the results will be worried to decrease the efficiency of port operation. Therefore, this paper will be aimed to evaluate the traffic congestion in the Pusan Passage I due to the opening of new ports within Pusan Harbour in 2006 and 2011 by using computer simulation based the queueing theory.

  • Port development is remarkable increased due to the progress of industrialization in ASEAN area. Especially, Vietnam has increased the international physical distribution in this area rapidly. The main issues facing decision makers at container terminals in Vietnam are how to expand the existing container terminals and construct new container terminals. In this paper, we performed the basic design based on simulation analysis in order to support the expansion of Quy Nhon port in Vietnam as a case study. The preliminary capacity analysis was conducted on the one berth at the port to analyze the scale of C/C and yard area. Alternative scenarios were created based on the preliminary capacity analysis and the detailed simulation analysis was conducted fur the scenarios. And in order to establish the marketing strategy, we classified the marketing elements by industrial environment and performed SWAT analysis of the port.

평택.당진항 활성화를 위한 북중국 화주의 항만 인식도에 관한 연구 (A study on the port recognition of North China Shippers for the activation of PyeongTaek.DangJin Port)

  • 중국의 WTO 가입 이후 급속한 물동량의 증가와 중국항만의 급성장 추세는 대 중국 교역항으로서 성장하고 있는 평택 당진항에 있어서는 기회이자 위기가 될 수 있으며 또한 항만 발전의 전환점이 될 수 있다. 이러한 시점에서 해당 항만을 이용하는 북중국 화주의 정확한 요구파악은 항만 활성화의 주요한 전략적 요소로 고려될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 평택 당진항에 대한 중국 현지 업체를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 고객의 요구를 파악함으로서 평택 당진항의 활성화 전략을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 연구결과 평택 당진항은 높은 지리적 강점을 보유하고 있으나 항만배후지 개발 지연, 다양한 항로의 부족, 마케팅 전략의 부재 등이 항만 활성화에 부정적 요인들로 나타났으며, 이를 위해 단순한 화물의존형 항만이 아닌 화물창출형의 항만으로 발전해야 신설항만으로서의 한계점을 극복하고 항만 활성화를 도모 할 수 있을 것이다.

  • Numerical analysis of the flow field in the reactive medium of End-Burring combustor is studied in order to investigate the combustion characteristics of hybrid combustion. The main part of this study is focused on the port diameter effects of oxidizer injector on the temperature distribution within the reactive field. It is found that the case having the largest port diameter(25 mm) delivers the optimum conditions for the design of End-Burring combustor where the predicted temperature field showed the most acceptable distribution.

방파제 전면에 설치된 원유부이 주변해역의 파랑분포에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Wave Height Distribution around Oil-Buoy in front of Detached Breakwater)

  • As a part of the development program of Ulsan Port, construction of detached breakwater is planned. In Ulsan Port, several oil-buoys exist. If the detached breakwaters have been constructed, these oil-buoys will be located within 1 km from the planned breakwaters. Construction of the breakwaters gives rise to changes of wave conditions on the sea areas, especially in front of the breakwater and it affects mooring of tankers, which supply oil to the oil-buoy In this study, in order to calculate standing wave distribution after construction of a breakwater, numerical model is proposed based on unsteady mild slope equation. Calculation is performed by testing different wave heights, directions and reflection coefficients of breakwater. In addition, the influence to working condition of tanker moored at the oil-buoy is evaluated by using measured wave conditions and calculated results.

고무 방현재의 사용 수명 예측 (Prediction of Service Life of The Rubber Fender)

  • The rubber fender is used to absorb the berthing energy that is produced when a ship is near a port, and it prevents collision between the ship and port. If the rubber fender becomes defective, the berthing energy cannot be absorbed when it is near the port, and damage can result from collisions due to the hardening process. In this research, when the rubber fender is heated, collisions can cause cracks and other damage. It is also confirmed from the research the lifetime distribution of the rubber fender. The researcher has predicted using different variables and elongation that a rubber fender has an 11year lifespan at $20^{\circ}C$.
