  • A rigorous analysis on the effect of colloidal interactions on the separation characteristic has been extended to the case of non-dilute charged solute concentration. The solute partitioning within slit pores for a wide range of solute concentration has been predicted by performing the Monte Carlo technique. Using a hindered transport model, rejection coefficients have been estimated from the predicted concentration profile.

Atomic Layer Deposition-incorporated Catalyst Deposition for the Vertical Integration of Carbon Nanotubes

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are vertically grown inside high-aspect-ratio vertical pores of anodized aluminum oxide. A CNT catalyst layer is introduced by atomic layer deposition to the bottom of the pores, after which the CNTs are successfully grown from the layer using chemical vapor deposition. The CNTs formed a complete vertical conductive path. The conductivity of the CNT-vertical path is also measured and discussed. The present atomic layer deposition-incorporated catalyst deposition is predicted to enable the integration of CNTs with various challenging configurations, including high-aspect-ratio vertical channels or vertical interconnects.

규칙적 세공을 가진 알루미나에 분산된 백금 모형촉매 (Platinum Model Catalysts Dispersed on Alumina with Regular Pores)

  • Geometrically and chemically well defined Pt/alumina model catalysts have been prepared. To this end, we fabricated electrochemically alumina supports in which pores of constant size, length and shape were regularly distributed over a wide area of the surface. Platinum particles were dispersed on the pore surfaces via organometallic chemical vapor deposition technique using (trimethyl) methylcyclopentadienylplatinum (IV) as a precursor. The chemical composition of the alumina plane surfaces was examined by Auger electron spectroscopy and the adsorption characteristics of the platinum particles were studied by thermal desorption spectroscopy. A variety of industrial catalytic problems are now open for further investigation utilizing the Pt/alumina model catalysts.

알칼리와 고온노출에 의한 GFRP 보강근 손상에 대한 현미경분석 연구 (Optical Microscopic Image Analysis for Damaged GFRP Rebar by Alkali and High Temperature Exposures)

  • 본 연구에서는 고온에 노출된 GFRP 보강근과 고온에 노출된 후 알칼리용액에 노출된 보강근의 단면을 현미경을 통해 관찰하고 발생된 손상의 특징을 고찰하였다. 또한, 각 시험체에 발생한 레진 균열과 공극에 대한 정량적 분석을 실시하였다. 알칼리로 인한 손상은 주로 표면에 집중되며 레진균열과 작은 공극을 발생시키는 것으로 확인되었다. 고온노출에 의한 손상은 레진균열과 공극을 발생시키는 것은 알칼리와 동일하지만 전단면에서 발생하며, 공극의 크기가 훨씬 크다. 또한 정량분석 결과, 동일한 알칼리 용액 노출조건에도 불구하고, $200^{\circ}C$ 이상의 고온에 노출된 시편에서 발견된 레진 균열과 공극이 고온노출이력이 전혀 없는 보강근에서 발견된 것 보다 1.5 및 1.4배 큰 것으로 확인되었다. 그러므로 동일한 알칼리 노출 조건이라 할지라도 $200^{\circ}C$ 이상의 고온에 노출된 보강근은 고온노출이력이 없는 보강근에 비하여 레진의 열화가 가속화 될 가능성이 있음을 알 수 있다.

Further Evidence for the Role of Cantharidin in the Mating Behaviour of Blister Beetles (Coleoptera: Meloidae)

  • Cantharidin is produced by blister beetles (Coleoptera: Meloidae) and smaller oedemerid beetles (Coleopetra: Oedemeridae) and is found in hemolymph and various tissues. The function of cantharidin in the courtship behaviour of meloids had never been fully established. Our studies show a correlation between density of cuticular pores and cantharidin titre of the scape and pedicel segments of male specimens of the East African species of Epicauta nyassensis (Haag-Rutenberg, 1880) (Coleoptera: Meloidae). Light microscopy of semi-thin cross sections of the male scape and pedicel indicates that there are many canal shaped structures that stretch from the antennal hemolymph to the antennomere surface. These structures may be tubules, which transport cantharidin circulating in the hemolymph to the surface, where the compound can be released via cuticular pore openings. Analyses of the head capsule and antennal segments of E. nyassensis females which had been copulated with males revealed low titre of cantharidin in the first two antennal segments. The density of the scape and pedicel pores of females was to some extent higher than the density of these pores on flagellum; however it was considerably lower than that of the males. Interestingly, no tubular cell or other transport structures were found in the cross sectioning of the female antennomeres or on the integument surface. During mating, male antennomeres, as well as cantharidin containing pores which are located on the $1^{st}\;and\;2^{nd}$ antennomeres, come into direct contact with the female antennae and may release cantharidin to their surface. Female E. nyassensis may be able to discriminate the opposite sex with abundant reserves of cantharidin prior to mating. This is another evidence that cantharidin function in close range sexual selection.

Effects of Dried Days on Properties of Seawater and Freshwater Flooded CSPE in NPPs

  • Accelerated thermal aging of chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) was performed for 0 days, 80.82 days, and 161.63 days at 100℃, which is equivalent to 0 y, 40 y, and 80 y of aging, respectively, at 50℃. After freshwater flooding, the volume electrical resistivity of CSPE was highest after 180 days of drying, and its insulating property recovered when dried for more than 300 days. The dielectric constant of the CSPE was not measured after seawater flooding. The dielectric constant of the accelerated thermally aged CSPE was higher after freshwater flooding than that before seawater flooding. The bright, open pores of CSPE were converted into dark, closed pores after seawater flooding, and the dark, closed pores of the accelerated thermally aged CSPE samples were partly converted into bright, open pores after freshwater flooding. The apparent density of CSPE increased slightly whereas its elongation at break (EAB) decreased until 80 y of accelerated thermal aging before seawater flooding. The peak binding energies of oxygen in the non-accelerated and accelerated thermally aged CSPE for 40 y and 80 y were shifted by more than 1.0 eV after seawater and freshwater flooding. The CH2 content in the non-accelerated and accelerated thermally aged CSPE for 40 y and 80 y after seawater flooding for 5 days was lower than that before seawater flooding whereas atoms such as Cl, O, Pb, Al, Si, Sb, and S that are related to conducting ions such as Na+, Cl-, Mg2+, SO4 2-, and K+ were relatively increased.

TiH2/camphene 슬러리의 동결건조 및 열처리에 의한 Ti 계 다공체의 제조 (Fabrication of Porous Ti by Freeze-Drying and Heat Treatment of TiH2/Camphene Slurries)

  • Porous Ti-systems with unidirectionally aligned channels were synthesized by freeze-drying and a heat treatment process. $TiH_2$ powder and camphene were used as the source materials of Ti and sublimable vehicles, respectively. Camphene slurries with $TiH_2$ content of 10 and 15 vol% were prepared by milling at $50^{\circ}C$ with a small amount of oligomeric polyester dispersant. Freezing of the slurry was done in a Teflon cylinder attached to a copper bottom plate cooled at $-25^{\circ}C$ while unidirectionally controlling the growth direction of the camphene. Pores were generated subsequently by sublimation of the camphene during drying in air for 48 h. The green body was heat-treated at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 1 h in a nitrogen and air atmosphere. XRD analysis revealed that the samples composed of TiN and $TiO_2$ phase were dependent on the heat-treatment atmosphere. The sintered samples showed large pores of about 120 mm which were aligned parallel to the camphene growth direction. The internal wall of the large pores had relatively small pores with a dendritic structure due to the growth of camphene dendrite depending on the degree of nucleation and powder rearrangement in the slurry. These results suggest that a porous body with an appropriate microstructure can be successfully fabricated by freeze-drying and a controlled sintering process of a camphene/$TiH_2$ slurry.

고분자의 자체발포를 이용한 세라믹 다공질체 (Ceramic Foams by the Self-Blowing of Polymer)

  • 폴리실록산 고분자의 자가 발포과정을 이용하여 세라믹 다공질체를 제조하였다. 고분자가 가교반응을 하는 과정에서 발생하는 물과 알콜 증기를 이용하면 고분자 용융액 내에 기공을 형성할 수 있다. 세라믹 다공질체 내의 기공의 크기와 모양은 고분자 용융액의 점도에 따라 크게 달라진다. 충진제인 A1$_2$O$_3$ 함량이 증가하면 기공 크기는 감소하며 이는 A1$_2$O$_3$의 입자크기가 감소하여도 비슷한 양상을 보였다. 고분자 용융액의 점도는 고분자의 가교반응정도에 따라서도 영향을 받는다. 발포 전에 13$0^{\circ}C$에서 열처리를 하면 점도는 증가하며 다공질체의 기공 안정성은 증가한다. 제조된 세라믹 다공질체의 밀도와 압축강도는 발포과정에서의 승온속도에 따라 다른 값을 보였다.

내한촉진제를 사용한 고로시멘트 모르타르의 수축성상 (Shrinkage Properties of Blast Furnance Slag Cement Mortar by using Frost-Resistant Accelerator)

  • 고로시멘트와 내한촉진제를 병용한 모르타르의 수축특성 및 수축성상에 미치는 영향에 대해 검토했다. 그 결과, OPC, BB 모두 내한촉진제를 첨가함에 따라 굳지 않은 성상에 미치는 영향은 작고, 초기재령부터 압축강도는 커진다. 또한, 내한 촉진제를 표준 사용량 이상으로 다량 사용할 경우에는 초기재령에 있어서의 팽창거동, 특히 강도발현과 팽창성의 관계에 대해 검토할 필요가 있다. 한편, 내한촉진제를 첨가함으로써 OPC, BB 모두 길이변화는 증가하는 경향을 확인할 수 있었다. 내한촉진제를 첨가함에 따라 직경 30nm 이하의 세공량, 특히 직경 20~30nm의 세공량 및 ink-bottle 세공량이 감소하여 수축량은 커지게 되며, 이 범위의 세공량의 변화가 수축성상에 미치는 영향이 크다고 판단된다.

계층적 다공구조를 갖는 Fe2O3 나노섬유의 리튬 이차전지 음극소재 적용 (Application of Hierarchically Porous Fe2O3 Nanofibers for Anode Materials of Lithium-ion Batteries)

  • 본 연구는 메조-, 마크로- 기공이 상호 연결된 계층적 다공구조를 갖는 $Fe_2O_3$ 나노섬유를 전기방사 및 후 열처리 과정을 통해 합성하였다. 구조체 내 마크로 기공은 $Fe(acac)_3$/polyacrylonitrile 연속상을 포함하는 섬유 내 분산상으로 존재하는 polystryrene을 열처리 과정 중 선택적으로 분해함으로써 생성시켰다. 또한, 전기방사 공정 동안 침투된 수분의 기화로 형성된 메조 기공은 마크로 기공과 상호연결되어 최종 계층적 다공구조를 갖는 $Fe_2O_3$ 나노섬유를 형성했다. 계층적 다공구조를 갖는 $Fe_2O_3$ 나노섬유의 초기 방전용량과 Coulombic 효율은 $1.0A\;g^{-1}$의 전류밀도에서 $1190mA\;h\;g^{-1}$, 79.2% 였으며, 1000 사이클 후의 방전 용량은 $792mA\;h\;g^{-1}$였다. 계층적 다공구조를 갖는 $Fe_2O_3$ 나노섬유는 높은 구조적 안정성과 형태학적 이점으로 인해 우수한 리튬 이온 저장 성능을 나타냈다.
