  • The electrical fire frequently happens through careless use such as poor contact, mechanical stress on power cord sets. In this paper, we simulated a wall-model in order to investigate the patterns of fire dispersion on power cord sets which consists of vinyl cord and rubber cord, etc. The fire progress and dispersive patterns were measured by a high speed imaging system(HG-100K, REDLAKE, USA). From the results, the fire pattern of power cord sets was progressed in order of flashover, scattering and disconnection. The short-circuit of the vinyl cords happened easier than the rubber cords by the external flame. In case vinyl cord is disconnected. the fire progress is not observed because the ignition energy decreases. Whereas, the fire progressed continuously in case of the rubber cord.

  • This study investigated basic material properties and compressibility of commonly used pharmaceutical excipients. Five classes of excipients are selected including starch, lactose, calcium phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), and povidone. The compressibility was evaluated using compression parameters derived from Heckel and Kawakita equation. The Heckel plot for lactose and dicalcium phosphate showed almost linear relationship. However, for MCC and povidone, curves in the initial phase of compression were observed followed by linear regions. The initial curve was considered as particle rearrangement and fragmentation and then plastic deformation at the later stages of the compression cycle. The Kawakita equation showed MCC exhibited higher compressibility, followed by povidone, lactose, and calcium phosphate. MCC undergoes significant plastic deformation during compression bringing an extremely large surface area into close contact and facilitating hydrogen bond formation between the plastically deformed, adjacent cellulose particles. Lactose compacts are consolidated by both plastic deformation and fragmentation, but to a larger extent by fragmentation. Calcium phosphate has poor binding properties because of its brittle nature. When formulating tablets, selection of suitable pharmaceutical excipients is very important and they need to have good compression properties with decent powder flowability. Material properties tested in this study might give a good guide how to select excipients for tablet formulations and help the formulation scientists design the optimum ones.

  • $Cu_2ZnSnS_4$ thin film have been fabricated by rapid thermal annealing of dc-sputtered metal precursor with Cu/ZnSn/Cu stack in sulfur ambient. A CZTS film with a good uniformity was formed at $560^{\circ}C$ in 6 min. $Cu_2SnS_3$ and $Cu_3SnS_4$ secondary phases were present at $540^{\circ}C$ and a trace amount of $Cu_2SnS_3$ secondary phase was present at $560^{\circ}C$. Single-phase large-grained CZTS film with rough surface was formed at $560^{\circ}C$. Solar cell with best efficiency of 4.7% ($V_{oc}=632mV$, $j_{sc}=15.8mA/cm^2$, FF = 47.13%) for an area of $0.44cm^2$ was obtained for the CZTS absorber grown at $560^{\circ}C$ for 6 min. The existence of second phase at lower-temperature annealing and rough surface at higher-temperature annealing caused the degradation of cell performance. Also poor back contact by void formation deteriorated cell performance. The fill factor was below 0.5; it should be increased by minimizing voids at the CZTS/Mo interface. Our results suggest that CZTS absorbers can be grown by rapid thermal annealing of metallic precursors in sulfur ambient for short process times ranging in minutes.

  • Due to the high dependence on electric energy, electric fires make up a significant portion of fires in Korea. Electric arcs by short circuits or poor contact cause three of four electrical fires. An electric arc is a discharge phenomenon of electrical current between the insulators, which instantaneously produces high temperature. In order to reduce the fire due to electric arc, this study aims to predict the electric arc risk. We collected arc data from the arc detectors and converted into graphs based on temporal arc data. We used machine learning for training converted graph with different number of temporal arc data. To measure the performance of the learning model, we use the test data. In the results, when the number of temporal arc data was 20, the prediction rate was high as 86%.

  • The effects of high-temperature process required to fabricate the SiC devices on the surface morphology and the electrical characteristics were investigated for 4H-SiC Schottky diodes. The 4H-SiC diodes without a graphite cap layer as a protection layer showed catastrophic increase in an excess current at a forward bias and a leakage current at a reverse bias after high-temperature annealing process. Moreover it seemed to deviate from the conventional Schottky characteristics and to operate as an ohmic contact at the low bias regime. However, the 4H-SiC diodes with the graphite cap still exhibited their good electrical characteristics in spite of a slight increase in the leakage current. Therefore, we found that the graphite cap layer serves well as the protection layer of silicon carbide surface during high-temperature annealing. Based on a closer analysis on electric characteristics, a conductive surface transfiguration layer was suspected to form on the surface of diodes without the graphite cap layer during high-temperature annealing. After removing the surface transfiguration layer using ICP-RIE, Schottky diode without the graphite cap layer and having poor electrical characteristics showed a dramatic improvement in its characteristics including the ideality factor[${\eta}$] of 1.23, the schottky barrier height[${\Phi}$] of 1.39 eV, and the leakage current of $7.75\{times}10^{-8}\;A/cm^{2}$ at the reverse bias of -10 V.

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of BackJoy on how it effectively reduces the physical load generated in a posture in which the user sits, increases user's comfort and satisfaction, and maintains the correct posture. Background: Because of development of science and economic development, most office workers and students spend about 75% of their working time in chairs. However most of them have a poor posture. Method: This experiment conducted measurement using a pressure mat and surveyed to evaluate fatigue level, satisfaction and comfort of sit. The study is experimented 20 male and 14 female participants. The participants carried out four different types of tasks and each task took 20 minutes long. Results: In the case of experiment results before and after the use of BackJoy, average pressure, contact area and pressure per unit area appear to prove that using BackJoy is more effective. Conclusion: Through this study, the BackJoy's effects for the maintenance of good posture and loads that occur in the body are reduced. In the future study, there are some researches needed for various verifications using an EMG sensor that shows loads of vertebrae and we need to analyze each group of the participants by dividing them. Application: The evaluation method used in this study can be applied to evaluating ergonomic chairs.

  • In this study, we successfully fabricated a super-hydrophobic polymer layer on the surface of slide glass using the solubility difference of a polymer at two different solvents. After dissolving polystyrene (PS) resins in tetrahydrofuran (THF) as a good solvent and then adding ethanol(EtOH) as a poor solvent, we were able to fabricate super-hydrophobic surface. We also investigated the effect of EtOH addition, coating methods, solution mixing time and speed, and other alcohols on the surface hydrophobicity. The water contact angle (WCA) of the fabricated surface revealed $WCA>150^{\circ}$ and the microporous surface structure composed of microparticles with the size less than $5\;{\mu}m$.

  • In this study, I examined the problems of the current barista curriculum and sought how to improve them by feedback from domestic specialized baristas and comparative analyses of the training programs that take place in barista educational institutions. In order to identify problems in curriculum and what to be improved, I gained the opinions of 15 experts who are currently teaching students in barista educational institutions using Delphi technique. To sum up the opinions of experts, working level education of coffee has to be mainly done and substantial educations for employment such as cafe operating technique and marketing are needed. In addition, experts suggested enhancing service courses considering the nature of working in contact with customers and the course for baking goods that takes up a lot of sales. As a result of examining the current curriculum in the institutions for baristas, it seems necessary to supplement these training courses that experts suggested because the educations are very poor.

  • Objective: The microvascular decompression(MVD) for trigeminal neuralgia(TN) is known as an effective surgical technique. But the failed MVD cases have been reported in long term follow-up studies. This study is to evaluate the efficacy of MVD through our operative techniques, offending vessels in operative field, failed cases with the review of the literatures. Methods: We analyzed total 63 cases of TN which underwent MVD from 1955 to 2003 according to characters of pain, operative findings, operative results related to causative vessel compression and operative method, progonotic factor. Statistical analysis was performed using paired t-test with SPSS Ver 11.0. Results: In TN, the most common offending vessel was superior cerebellar artery(45.0%). In compression group of nerve root by offending vessel, the cure rate was 91.7%. However, the cure rate of the contact group was 64.7% and the cure rate of the negative group was 37.5%. There was no statistical significance between the degree of compression by vessel and the operative result(p=0.076). In 51 cases with MVD only, the cure rate was 84.3% and in 3 cases with PSR only, 42.8% and in 2 cases with PSR(partial sensory rhizotomy) with MVD, 50.0%. TN recurred in 7 cases within the follow-up period and reoperations(PSR) were added in 2 cases of them. Conclusion: This study shows that MVD provided a high rate of success with a minor risk of complications, which has been regarded as the most safe and effective procedure for trigeminal neuralgia. Additional MVD in recurred TN by severe adhesion of teflon showed poor outcome. But, revisional operation(PSR) in recurred TN showed relatively good outcome. PSR should be considered for treatment of recurrent TN after MVD.
