터널 화재시 배연속도가 연소율변화에 미치는 실험적 연구 - Heptane 풀화재 경우 (An Experimental Study on the Ventilation velocity of the Variation of Burning rate in Tunnel Fires - Heptane pool fire case)

  • 본 연구는 터널내 화재시 배연속도가 연소율 변화에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위하여 Froude scaling에 의해 1/20 크기로 축소한 모형화재 실험을 수행하였다. 화원으로는 4.5cm~8.5cm의 헵탄을 사용하였으며 발열량은 3.71~15.6 kW이다. 연소율은 로드셀을 이용하여 산출하였고, 연기거동을 파악하기 위하여 K형 열전대를 이용하여 온도분포를 측정하였다. 풍동은 터널 상류 한쪽부분과 연결하였고, 터널 공간의 배연속도를 제어하기 위하여 풍동의 인버터를 조정하였다. 헵탄 풀화재인 경우 배연속도가 증가할수록 충분한 산소의 공급으로 연소율은 증가하였으며, 같은 무차원 속도($\bar{V}$) 일때 화원 크기가 작아짐에 따라 연소율은 증가하였다.

Numerical analysis on the rapid fire suppression using a water mist nozzle in a fire compartment with a door opening

  • Fire suppression using a water mist nozzle directly above an n-Heptane pool in a fire compartment with a door opening was numerically investigated using the Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) for the purpose of application in nuclear power plants. Input parameters for the numerical simulation were determined by experimental measurements. Water mist was activated 10 s after the fire began. The sensitivity analysis was conducted for three input parameters: total number of cubic cells of 6032-2,926,400, droplets per second of 1000-500,000, and extinguishing coefficient of 0-100. In a new simple calibration method of this study, the extinguishing coefficient yielding the fire suppression time closest to that measured by experiments was found for use as the FDS simulation input value. When the water mist jet flow made contact with the developed fire, the heat release rate instantaneously increased, and then rapidly decreased. This phenomenon occurred with a displacement of the flame near the liquid fuel pool. Changing the configuration of the door opening with different aspect ratios and opening ratios had impact on the maximum value of the heat release rate due to the flame displacement.

물분무를 이용한 화재제어에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study of Fire Suppression Using a Water Mist in a Compartment)

  • The present study investigates the fire suppression characteristics using a water mist fire suppression system. The fire extinguishing times are measured for various fire sources, fuel types, and different total flooding rates of water mist. Pool fire with hydrocabon fuel is successfully extinguished within a minute under the operating conditions of the water mist system. Two different regimes of the smoke layer cooling are observed, such as rapid and slow cooling processes. The regimes are divided by threshold time which is calculated with auto-correlation function. The threshold time for the initial cooling decreases with increasing water flow-rates and fire sources. These initial cooling effects play an important role in preventing the occurance of flashover fire by the initial fire suppression.

  • Fire extinguishing experiment was conducted with water mist nozzle in case of the pool fire, cascade fire and spray fire on flammable liquid of class B whether water mist system can be effective system for power transformer fire scenario. In the event of a pool fire, flow rate and time to extinguish was inclined to be increased according to the obstruction rate of ignition space. Furthermore, the performance of fire extinguishing depended upon the spraying angle of the nozzles. In case of cascade fire, the effect of extinguishment was began to show from a combustion pan filled with fuel and fuel flowing plate later on.

물과 공기가 공급되는 2유체노즐을 활용한 에탄올 풀화재 소화 실험 (Ethanol Pool Fire Extinguishing Experiment Using Twin-fluid Nozzle Supplied with Water and Air)

  • 본 연구에서는 2유체노즐을 이용하여 에탄올 풀화재(Ethanol pool fire) 소화 실험을 수행하였다. 화원 면적이 5.027 × 10-3 ㎡와 1.131 × 10-2 ㎡(연료팬 직경은 각각 80 mm와 120 mm)를 대상으로 하였고, 화재 소화 실험 시 2유체노즐로의 공급 유량의 경우 물은 156-483 g/min, 공기는 20-70 L/min 조건이었다. 화원 면적이 증가하면 열방출률도 증가하였고, 화원 면적이 5.027 × 10-3 ㎡와 1.131 × 10-2 ㎡일 때의 열방출률은 각각 1.01 kW와 5.51 kW로 측정되었다. 본 실험 영역에서 2가지 화원 면적 조건 모두, 물 공급 유량 조건과는 상관없이 공기 공급 유량이 40 L/min 이상의 조건에서 소화가 가능하였다. 소화 소요 시간 및 물 소모량의 경우 모든 물 공급 유량 조건에서 공기 공급 유량이 증가함에 따라 감소하는 경향이 관찰되었고, 공기 공급 유량이 비교적 많은 영역(예를 들면, 약 50 L/min 이상)에서 소화 소요 시간은 약 23 s, 물 소모량은 약 185 g 이내로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과와 단일유체노즐을 이용한 기존 연구 간 단위 열방출률 당 물 소모량 비교를 통하여, 2유체노즐이 단일유체노즐에 비해 더 적은 물 소모량으로 소화가 가능할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • In this study CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis of the steady fire-driven fuid flow for the performance test of ventilation at railway tunnel between Heuksok and Nodeul Station from Seoul Metro 9 is performed. There were fans with exhaust and intake modes and each was installed at the middle and both ends of the tunnel. For this test, the pool fire source of methyl alcohol with 1.5MW and smoke generators were installed between the middle of tunnel and Heuksok Station. In this test, the smoke behavior from natural convection was observed for 10 minutes from the ignition of pool fire and then fans with intake-modes at both sides of Heuksok effect of fan-on with intake mode located in the opposite side of the tunnel nearby Heuksok Station on fire-driven fluid flow is studied on when the boundary conditions of fan-on at the tunnel between Heuksok and Nodeul Station are the same as test. FLUENT, a commercial CFD code, is used for this analysis.

  • This study aims to validate predictive capabilities of FDS for the pool fire in three rooms connected to ventilation network. The three rooms in real scale fire test facility are configured to be similar to that of nuclear power plant in size, ventilation condition, construction material, etc. Basically three rooms are confined to the other area except two open doors and two ventilation duct in each room. The real scale fire test was conducted with these conditions and the predictive capabilities of FDS will be validated by comparing FDS simulation results with experimental data from the temperature, heat flux, and concentration point of view. This study concludes that temperature from FDS is about 25 % lower deviation from the experiment, and heat flux from FDS is about 5% deviation.

위험물 취급설비 화재 사고결과 영향평가 프로그램 개발 방향 (Development Direction of Fire Consequence Analysis Programs for Hazardous Materials)

  • 본 연구에서는 위험물 취급설비에 대하여 4가지 화재유형으로 나누어 사고 시나리오를 작성하였다. 그리고 작성된 시나리오를 바탕으로 SuperChems Pro., 3.1, SAFER Trace Ver., 8.2, PHAST Pro., Ver., 5.2 등 외국의 사고결과 영향평가 프로그램을 이용하여 사고결과 영향평가 프로그램의 적용 특성을 분석·평가하였으며 이들 프로그램의 분석, 적용 평가 결과 및 관련이론을 활용하여 이를 전산화 할 수 있는 화재모델 및 서브모델을 선정하여 제시하였다.
