An experimental study has been carried out as a basic research for development of the friction drag reduction technology for ships by polymer injection. Experimental apparatus and procedures have been devised and prepared to measure the changes of the wall friction with injection of a polymer solution and basic experimental data on the friction drag reduction are obtained for a turbulent fiat-plate boundary layer and fully-developed channel flows. Variations of the friction drag reduction with some important parameters of polymer injection, such as the concentration of polymer solution, its injection flow rate and the measuring position downstream from the injection slot, are also investigated. Important experimental data and results obtained in the present study are presented. The amount of friction drag reduction up to 50% is observed.
An experimental study has been carried out as a basic research for the development of the friction drag reduction technology for water-borne vehicles by injecting microbubbles or polymer solution. Experimental apparatus and procedures have been devised and prepared to measure the changes of the wall friction with the injection of additives and the basic experimental data on friction drag reduction are obtained for fully developed channel flows. The effects of key controlling parameters were investigated for higher drag reduction with varying the concentration and the injection rate of additives. The frictional drag has been reduced up to $25\%$ with the microbubble injection and $50\%$ with the polymer solution injection.
Dilute polymer solutions were injected into turbulent pipe flow of a Newtonian fluid. The local drag reduction for injection of polymer solution at the pipe wall was larger than that at centerline. From the above result we may conclude that the polymer additives were found to influence the flow in the neighborhood of the wall. The effects of the injection apparatus on the local drag reduction are small compared to the drag-reducing effects. The extent of drag reduction increased with polymer concentration and injection flow rate, and the maximum drag reduction obtained were 47% for Polyox Coagulant and 35% for Separan AP-273. In respect to polymer degradation, the polyacrylamide showed better shear stability than the polyethyleneoxide and thus the former expected to have a sharper molecular weight distribution.

Polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films consist of micro-droplets of liquid crystals dispersed in a polymer matrix. To make wide area PDLC filled devices, it is necessary to develop reliable method of vacuum injection of PDLC solution instead of the capillary injection. However, well-known 2-ethylhexylacrylate (EHA), main element of a prepolymer, exhibits the volatility problems, when the PDLC solution is placed under the low pressure. In this study, we developed the vacuum injection process to fill a wide area cell. Experimental results indicate that the $V_{90}$(turn-on voltage) of the PDLC cell made by a vacuum injection method are lower than that of the PDLC cell made by a capillary injection method.
This research proposal is based on a novel non-contact technique of micro-sized bead injection process for fabrication of electronic paper display. This non-contact injection process is based on the principle of electrostatic force and uses micro-sized metal-coated beads dispersed in a solution. The dispersion retention times of three different solutions with viscosities of 10 cps, 100 cps, and 1000 cps were measured by optical equipment showing the retention times of 5 mins, 10 mins, and 30 mins respectively. The dispersion retention rate dropped as the time passed. The dispersion retention characteristic of 1000 cps solution was more stable as compared to those of 10 cps and 100 cps meaning that higher viscosity has better retention properties. The experimental results of bead injection at different viscosity levels of the solution were also measured and a stable injection result was achieved by using 1000 cps solution. This results show that stable injection is dependent on solution viscosity and dispersion.
The use of engineering plastics in automotive components is increasing with the trend towards improving the car strength and reducing weight. Among the different choices of materials, engineering plastic emerged as the necessary material for achieving lower costs, reduced weight and improved production efficiency. To produce the automotive parts, it is important to predict defect and validation of injection molding prior to design. Injection molding analysis and structural analysis are widely applied as a part of the design process when developing automotive parts. Injection molding analysis, in particular, involves a highly complicated mechanism that requires deep knowledge of polymer properties as well as an analytic approach different from that used for a general isotropic material when the molded material is used as a structural material. This is because the parts made of polymer have pre-stress factors such as intrinsic deformation and residual stress. The most important factors for injection molded plastic products are injection molding condition and cavity design, taking into account ease of molding, mass production and application. Despite optimal injection molding conditions and cavity design, however, glass fiber orientation is critically linked to strength reduction. The application of injection molding and structural coupled analysis provides a low-cost solution for product molding and structural validation, all prior to the actual molding. The purpose of this study involves the validation, pre-study, and solution of defect in injection-molded polymer automotive parts using the simulation software for injection molding and structural coupled analysis. Finally, this thesis provides validation of an injection molding and structural coupled analytic mechanism that can demonstrate the effect of glass fiber orientation on mechanical strength. Design improvement ideas for the injection molded product of PPS (Poly Phenylene Sulfide)+40% glass fiber are also suggested.
PT-IR과 UV-Vis.

Fluorene derivatives are well-known in the polymer OLEDs due to their good charge carrying property. In this work, we synthesized a series of conjugated copolymers based fluorene derivative and phenylamine units by using Buchwald-Hartwig reaction in order to investigate their photoreactivities and use as the HIL/HTL layers of OLEDs using solution processes.
DNA fragments (51-587 bp) were separated by capillary electrophoresis using entangled polymer, hydroxyethylcellulose, in uncoated fused silica capillary columns. The factors affecting the separation of DNA fragments with hydroxyethylcellulose media were evaluated, i.e., the concentration of buffer and entangled polymer, effects of additives (methanol, ethidium bromide, EDTA), temperature, and injection methods. Maximum performance was obtained by adding 5% methanol in 0.5% hydroxyethylcellulose solution at $30^{\circ}C$. Addition of methanol in polymer media increased the resolution of small size DNA fragments (< 100 bp). On the other hand, addition of ethidium bromide and EDTA, which are commonly used in conventional DNA separation, reduced the resolution of DNA fragments in the polymer solution. It turns out that the separation behavior of DNA in entangled polymer is more sensitive to the running condition compared to that in polyacrylamide gel-filled capillary, but the reproducibility of DNA separation in entangled polymer is reliable.
