A new algorithm has been developed to construct surface from the contours having branches and the final smooth surface is obtained by the reversible Catmull-Clark subdivision. In branching, a particular layer has more than one contour that correspond with at least one contour at the adjacent layer. In the next step, three-dimensional composite curve is constructed from contours of a layer having correspondence with at least one contour at the adjacent layer by inserting points between them and joining the contours. The points are inserted in such a way that the geometric center of the contours should merge at the center of the contours at the adjacent layer. This process is repeated for all layers having branching problems. Polyhedra are constructed in the next step with the help of composite curves and the contours at adjacent layer. The required smooth surface is obtained in the proposed work by providing the level of smoothness.
Let B be a simply-connected projective variety such that the first cohomology groups of all line bundles on B are zero. Let E be a vector bundle over B and $X={\mathbb{P}}(E)$. It is easily seen that a power of any endomorphism of X takes fibers to fibers. We prove that if X admits an endomorphism which is of degree greater than one on the fibers, then E splits into a direct sum of line bundles.
This study was performed to produce monoclonal antibodies to the major polyhedral inclusion body (PIB) antigen of the occluded form of Hyphantria cunea nuclear polyhedrosis virus (HcNPV). PIB proteinS were purfied from the Spodoptera frugiperda cell infected with HcNPVs. Using the purified PIB protein, BALB/C mice were immunized 3 times with 2 weeks intervals. The spleen were removed and fused with Sp2/0-Ag14, mouse myeloma cells.
Midgut cells of the dead Dendrolimus spectabilis larvae by infection of D. spectabilis nuclear polyhedrosis virus (DsNPV) were observed by transmission electron microscopy. DsNPV replicated in the nucleus of the infected midgut cells and the virogenic stroma of DsNPV appeared in the nucleus, from which nucleocapsids were formed. Also the formation of polyhedral inclusion bodies were observed in the nucleus.
This paper describes a collision avoidance method for planning safe trajectories for multi-robot system in common work space. Usually objects have been approximated to convex polyhedra in most previous researches, but in case using such the approximation method it is difficult to represent objects analytically in terms of functions and also to describe tile relationship between the objects. In this paper, in order to solve such problems a modeling method which approximates objects to cylinder ended by hemispheres and or sphere is used and the maximum distance functions is defined which call be calculated simply. Using an objective function with inequality constraints which are related to minimum distance functions, work range and maximum allowable angular velocities of the robots, tile collision avoidance for two robots is formulated to a constrained function optimization problem. With a view to solve tile problem a penalty function having simple form is defined and used. A simple numerical example involving two PUMA-type robots is described.

The objective of our study was the formulation of a local strain of Mamestra brassicae nucleopolyhedrovirus-K1 (MabrNPV-K1) for the development of viral insecticide to control M. brassicae. To formulate MabrNPV-K1, feeding toxicities of various supplements and ultraviolet (UV)-protection were investigated. Optical brightener Tinopal UNPA-GX (Tinopal) as UV protectant and Bentonite had some toxicity themselves to increase the mortality. The protection of polyhedra from UV light radiation was observed only by Tinopal. The MabrNPV-K1 was formulated as a wettable powder form. The mortality of the formulation was higher and rapid than that of the un-formulated. This suggested the possibility of MabrNPV-K1 formulation as an effective biological control agent for M. brassicae.

The tropical tasar silkworms, Antheraea mylitta (D) produce famous silk 'Kosa' in central part of India. Due to outdoor rearing it became susceptible to viral infection including cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus (CPV). The common mode of entry of cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus is per os and cause gresserie disease to the larvae. Histopathological studies elucidated the insect CPV virus produces infective polyhedral inclusion bodies (PIBs) in the midgut cell cytoplasm of virus infected fifth instar larvae. The PIBs multiply enormously in the cytoplasm without invading the nucleus. Ultrastructural studies confirmed the pathological effects of CPV on in midgut cell cytoplasm. The multiplication of polyhedral inclusion bodies took place into the vacuoles and form virogenic stromata in the cytoplasm of cells. However, the encapsulations of polyhedral inclusion bodies into the polyhedrin protein occurred and polyhedra were released into the lumen. At the late stage of infection, cells showed the regressed cytoplasmic organelles with large vacuoles and elongated mitochondria. Hence, the horizontal transmission of CPV causing the midgut cells disintegration in the tasar silkworm, Antheraea mylitta (D) confirmed during infection.

This paper studies a collision detection technique to dealing with moving polyhedra. Even though the problem is well-studied in computer graphics, the existing methods are inapplicable to highly dynamic environments. We use the GJK algorithm to determine collisions between convex objects. Also, our method is applied for moving objects.
This study examined the creation mechanism of free volume during homogeneous deformation induced by the elastostatic compression at room temperature. Experiments demonstrated that amorphous alloys subjected to the elastostatic compression underwent structural disordering, during which densely packed polyhedra breakdown to form new, loosely packed ones, resulting in the creation of excess free volume. A combination of experiments and molecular dynamics simulations are used to explore fundamental issues on how free volume is created during elastostatic compression.
We have now constructed a novel recombinant baculovirus producing fusion protein with Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcNPV) polyhedrin and Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt) cryIA(c) crystal protein. The fusion protein expressed by the recombinant baculovirus in insect cells was characterized. The N-terminal of cryIA(c) gene of Bt subsp. kurstaki HD-73 was introduced under the control of polyhedrin gene promoter of AcNPV, by fusion in the front of intact polyhedrin gene or by insertion into the HindIII site in polyhedrin gene. The recombinant baculoviruses were named as BtrusI or BtrusII, respectively. Although single transcript from the fusion protein gene was apparently observed. BtrusI was produced the two proteins, 92 kDa fusion protein and only polyhedrin. In addition, fusion protein produced by BtrusI did not form polyhedra. Interestingly, however, the cells infected with BtrusII did not show a 33 kDa polyhedrin band as a cells infected with BtrusI. Cells infected with BtrusII were only produced fusion protein, but the polyhedra formed by fusion protein was not observed. To determine the insecticidal toxicity of fusion protein, therefore, Sf9 cells infected with BtrusI were inoculated to Bombyx mori larvae. Sf9 cells infected with BtrusI that expressed the fusion protein caused larval mortality although the insecticidal toxicity was low. In conclusion, our results clearly demonstrated that the fusion protein with polyhedrin and Bt cryIA(c) crystal protein have a insecticida toxicity.
