  • Functional properties are available with sputtering. But sputtering treatment alone cannot got a good fastness performance to washing, rubbing and light. This research was objected to investigate optimum condition by sputtering on polyester through various processing conditions such as ion current and treatment time, and then various resin treated onto metal coated polyester fabrics in order to increase washing fastness of metal membrane. As the results, the optimum conditions revealed 1500 mA of ion current, 2 min of treatment time in sputter, and suitable resin concentrations were 2% of o.w.s (on the weight of solution) in resin treatment. Therefore, we could get enhanced anti-static effect and flex stiffness as well as washing fastness in sputtered polyester fabric with various resin treatment, for example, melamine and polyurethane.

  • 'Burn-Out' is a kind of printing process that can create many textural effects, also high added value of the fabrics. In the previous studies, it is examined how to burn out the cellulose part of the velvet and the polyester/cellulosic fiber mixed fabric without damage of the other part and the effects of process conditions. In this study, dyeing properties of the colored burn-out printing were investigated with various conditions onto the polyester/cellulosic fiber mixed fabrics with red disperse dye. As a results, the apparent color depth (K/S) is increased with increasing of concentration of dye. The optimum treatment conditions without any shrinkage or occurrence of yellowness on the polyester ground fabrics are fixation temperature of $140^{\circ}C$ and time of 3 minutes.

  • Polyester filaments were dyed with disperse dye in dyebath containing water and water miscible organic solvents . acetone, 1,4-dioxane, DMF. In case of Acetone and 1,4-dioxane, the equilibrium dyeuptake was maximun at the volume fraction 0.05. The equilibrium dye uptakes were decreased as volun~e fraction of organic solvents were increased. When the volume fractions of water miscible organic solvents were varied, dye uptake was increased constantly with dyeing time. In dyebath containing water and water miscible organicsolvent, the dyeuptake was increased quickly during initial 40∼ 60 min. and slowly increased there after. The slope of Ct/Coo to t was greater in dyebath containing water and water miscible organic solvents than dyebath containing water. The differences of the slope with volulne fractions of water miscible organic solvent were not shown big.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the dyeability of polyester(PET) fabric by thermal bonding with low melting component of bicomponent fiber and to describe the change of physical properties of thermal bonded PET fabrics. The PET fabrics were prepared with regular PET fiber as warp and bicomponent fiber as weft. The bicomponent fiber of sheath-core type was composed with a regular PET core and low melting PET sheath. The thermal bonding of PET fabric was carried out in pin tenter($195^{\circ}C$) for 60 seconds. In this study, we investigated the dye ability and fastness of the dyed PET fabric. Dye ability of E-type dyestuff is higher than S-type dyestuff. In the case of E- type dyestuff, the saturated dyeing time was 10minutes at $130^{\circ}C$. The washing fastness and light fastness were excellent as 4-5grade.

  • Effects of chemical structure of disperse dyes applied to conventional and microdenier polyesters on the dyeing property and washfastness were studied. It was found that washfastness of dyed polyester fabric is closely related to the degree of thermomigration of disperse dye during heatsetting. The bulky disperse dye, which was synthesized by substituting two acetoxy groups of C.I. Disperse Red 82 with two benzoxy groups, showed almost the same amount of absorbed dye by the microdenier polyester as C.I. Disperse Red 82, but the degree of thermomigration was low and subsequent washfastness was excellent. The high grade of washfastness of the bulky disperse dye might be caused by the increased dye-fiber interaction and the reduced mobility.

  • Polyester ultrarmcrofiber(UMF, fiber fineness : 0.05d) and the other three kinds of polyester fibers(0.52, 1.04 and 2.08d) were dyed with two disperse dyes, C.1. Disperse Red 60 and Blue 56. Dyeing rates and absorption isotherms of these dyes have been measured at 100, 115 and $130^\circ{C}$ in water system. The dye bath was maintained at pH 5.0 with acetic acid(0.1mo1/1) /sodium acetate(0.1mo1/1) buffers and a liquor ratio of 1000:1. The absorption isotherms from two disperse dyes are nearly linear up to the saturation values, which increase with the temperature of dyeing. Dye uptake decreased with the fiber fineness in lower temperature $100^\circ{C})$, whereas increased in higher temperature$(130^\circ{C})$. A comparatively greater quantity of dye is necessary to dye ultrarmcrofiber fabrics than conventional fabrics. Disperse Blue 56 having a good build-up property is agreed to Fothergill's equation, which is inversely varied with the fiber fineness by the quantity of dye necessary to obtain a given shade.

  • This study investigates the dyeability and fastness of jacquard fabric for blind using low-melting flame retardant polyester. Two types of jacquard fabric were prepared with a low-melting flame retardant polyester and regular polyester. The low-melting flame retardant polyester has a sheath and a core. The core consists of flame retardant polyester and the sheath consists of low-melting polyester. Disperse red 50 (DR 50), disperse blue 56 (DB 56), disperse yellow (DY 54) of E-type dyes and disperse 92 (DR 92), disperse blue 60 (DB 60), disperse yellow (DY 79) of S-type dyes were used and dyed on jacquard fabrics dependent of dyeing temperature and time. The fastness, dye exhaustion, color strength (K/S value), and colorimetric properties of jacquard fabrics were evaluated. The dyeability of S-type dyes were higher than E-type dyes. The experiments indicated optimum dyeability that the dyeing temperature was $110^{\circ}C$ for E-type dyes and $120^{\circ}C$ for S-type dyes for 40 minutes. The fastness to washing and light were excellent at a 4-5 grade.

  • The textile fabric contains the functions of sanitation, decoration, wearing style and washing in the practical use. Among various tetile fiber, silk has less utilities than synthetic fiber in practical use although silk has good benefits of the high quality of silk fabric. Thus no textile fiber, neither natural norsynthetic, has all the functions. In this sense, many compound fabrics have been improved to reveal various functions of fabric However, this has been disturbed with the problem of dyeing, expecially in the case of compound fabric of silk. The work is carried out to improve the dyeing method of compound fabric of polyester and silk. The results obtained are as follows: 1. In the dyeing of compound fabric(P/S fabric), azo dyes was more suitable than anthraquinone dyes. 2. According to the carrier, dyeing spot was appeared by the high concentration in bath. 3. Degree of dye fixation was decreased in dyeing of methylnaptharine carrier(D.N) and anion disperser(T.S). 4. The affinity of dye was suitable in the dyeing bath of azo dye, trichlorobenzene carrier and nonion disperser. 5. Dye fixation of silk side in compound fabric by acid dye showed higher in acid bath of dyeing. 6. In printing of silk and polyester compound fabric, it must be understood relationship among fibers, dyes, and steaming conditions.

  • In this study the effects of swelling and fixing agent for the cotton side of polyester/cotton blended fabrics and the thermosol temperature on the dyeing properties and fastness. were investigated, when the polyester/cotton blended fabrics were dyed with a disperse dye which was able to dye both side of fiber by one bath one step thermosol process. The obtained results are as follows; The dye adsorption decreased with the increase of cotton blend ratio in polyester/cotton blended fabrics, when the ratio of swelling and fixing agent for cotton side was constant. As the thermosol temperature increased up to $210^{\circ}C$, the dye adsorption were increased, but that effect was less significant when the cotton blend ratio was higher.

  • A new dyeing M/C, called Green-flow was developed in this study. A new M/C was applied to mixed air flow method combined aerodynamic technology to fabric speed power. The polyester fabric was dyed of beige color with a new M/C and Luft-roto dyeing M/C made by Thies Company(German) with the same dyeing condition (liquor ratio=1 : 3.5, Fabric speed = 450yds/min.) for comparision. The results showed that the color fastness to dye and drapability of the fabrics dyed with both M/C were almost the same and the levelness and T.H.V of the fabrics dyed with Greenflow were better than those dyed with Luft-roto M/C. In addition, it is found that the fabric speed of 502yds/min was a suitable for both M/C.
