In order to investigate the effect of contained impurities of polyester fiber fabric on the scouring and dyeing property, 3 kinds of polyester fabrics were heat-set treated at $160-200^\circ{C}$ and evaluated its scouring and dyeing property by through with soxhlet extraction and K/S value of the dyed fabric derived from the surface reflectance. The impurities such as oiling and sizing agent are adhered more strongly on the polyester fabric surface by heat setting temperature. In scouring test, the removal of the these re-adhered impurities on the polyester fabric is very difficult in comparing with unheat-set treated polyester fabric. It is also confirmed that the remained impurities on the polyester fiber decreased its dyeing property.
The effect of padding solution for the microwave heat dyeing of polyester fabric was studied variously. The dyeing property of polyester fabric varied with the kinds of added chemicals in the padding solution. Polyester fabrics impregnated in aqueous urea solution and aqueous sodium chloride solution for 10 minutes and then dyed for 7 minutes by microwave apparatus(2450 MHz, 700 W) under optimum conditions give good exhaustion. An aqueous solution of urea and a sodium chloride solution was more effective than water as padding solution for microwave heating dyeing. The K/S values of dyed polyester fabric by microwave were significantly affected by the type of solvent added in padding media and its concentration. Added solvents, n-hexane, acetone and dimethyl formamide were also more effective than water as padding media for the microwave heating dyeing. It is assumed that the effect of used solvents on dyeing property of polyester fabrics depends on the solubility parameter difference between solvent and polyester fabric.
The objective of this study was to investigate the changes of the fabric absorbency, stiffness and antistatic property by using a fabric softner at laundering. The samples selected in this study were cotton and polyester fabrics. The cotton fabric was treated with 1/2 times(0.035%), 1 time(0.07%), 3 times(0.21%) and 10 times(0.7%) of the commercially suggested concentration (0.07%) of the fabric softner. And polyester fabric was done at 1 time(0.07%) of that. In order to examine the effect of the fabric by using a fabric softner, the abstraction of a surface active agent and quantitative analysis was performed by using a UV/VIS Spectroscopy and the correlations among the absorbency, stiffness and antistatic property was analyzed. The results obtained from this study were as follows; 1. In the cotton fabric, fabric softner gave the degradation of absorbency, and stiffness improvement was not shown by repeated fabric softner on the cotton fabric. 2. In the polyester fabric, the absorbency increased and the stiffness in creased very slightly. Specially, it is desirable to use fabric softner on the polyester due to improvement of antistatic property.

The effect of padding solution on the microwave heat dyeing of polyester fabric was studied extensively. Polyester fabrics were impregnated in aqueous urea solution and aqueous sodium chloride solution for 10 min and then dyed for 7 min by microwave apparatus (2450 MHz, 700 W) under optimum conditions which provide good exhaustion. Aqueous solutions of urea and sodium chloride showed more effective than water as a padding solution for microwave heat dyeing. The type of solvent added in padding media and its concentration significantly affects the K/S values of dyed polyester fabric. Added solvents such as n-hexane, acetone, and dimethyl formamide were also more effective than 100 % water as padding media for the microwave heat dyeing. It is supposed that the effect of used solvents on dyeing property of polyester fabrics depends on the solubility parameter difference between solvent and polyester fabric.

Chitosan is the affinitive finishing agent and gives susceptible effect in textile finishing. In order to examine the modification of polyester fabric treated with chitosan, we observed the characteristic of polyester fabric surface and measured its physical properties. For the purpose of confirming the adhesion of cationic material, we made a comparative study on anionic acid dye. The fabric was treated with crosslinking agent after chitosan finishing. Glutardialdehyde as crosslinking agent was used to improve the fixation rate of chitosan on the polyester fabric. And the US value was increased according to increasing of chitosan concentration. As the concentration of crosslinking agent was increased, whiteness index of the fabric chitosan treated was increased. Moisture regain of the fabric treated with $1\%$ chitosan was doubled and that treated with $2\%$ chitosan was tripled comparing with original fabric. Tensile strength of the chitosan treated fabric had been an increase of $10\%$ compared with alkali treated fabric and crease resistance decreased regardless of chitosan concentration.
In order to make a silk-like polyester fabric, polyester fabrics were treated with a several weight reduction machines such as tank type, liquor flow type and C.D.R at the field condition. The results were as followings : The weft density of treated polyester fabric showed different tendency according to the used the weight reduction machine and the rate of weight loss. Namely, at 6.5% weight loss, the weft density of fabric treated with tank and liquor flow type increased by 1 pick/inch and 2 picks/inch, respectively, and decreased by 4 picks/inch in case of treated with C.D.R type. With the increase in the rate of weight loss, the air permeability of treated fabric increased, and the K/S value of dyed fabric decreased. The overall tendency of the air permeability and the K/S value of treated polyester fabric increased in the order of the tank type, liquor-flow type and C.D.R type. The tensile strength of polyester fabric treated with C.D.R had lower value than that of the other type. It is assumed that this result is attributed the decreasing of the cross point of the warp and weft direction.

This study examined the use of cutinase and lipase to process cotton/polyester blend fabric. Optimum treatment conditions for cutinase and lipase were investigated for cotton/polyester blend fabric. The properties of enzyme-treated fabrics were evaluated and compared in optimal treatment conditions. In addition, the possibility to provide an enzymatic finishing on blend fabrics using mixed enzymes in a two-step process were studied. The weight loss of cotton/polyester blend fabrics with Triton X-100 was 0.8% and the dyeing property of blend fabrics with calcium chloride increased by a factor of 1.2. The use of two enzymes in combination with cutinase and lipase in the presence of auxiliaries resulted in a cotton/polyester blend fabric weight loss of 0.8%. In addition, the dyeing properties of cotton/polyester blend fabrics improved by a factor of 1.5 and the moisture regain of cotton/polyester blend fabrics improved by a factor of 1.16. However, no marked loss was observed in tensile strength. The surface morphology of cotton/polyester blend fabrics is modified through a two-enzyme treatment. The treatment of cotton/polyester blend fabrics with cutinase and lipase maintains cotton strength and improves the moisture regain of polyester fabrics.
In order to investigate the detergency effects of various detergents to stained polyester & cotton fabric with solid soils such as carbon black, liquid paraffin and fat, the optimum washing conditions according to the types of washing agent, the assesment of detergency effect by the measurement of reflectance after and before washing were studied. The detergency effect of various detergents to stained polyester and cotton fabric increased by using the mixtures of bleaching and enzyme detergent. In order to obtain the excellent detergency effect, 2-step treatment, the pre-washing with bleaching agent and bleaching-enzyme mixture detergent treatment is preferred. In comparison of the detergency to polyester and cotton fabric, it is assumed that the detergency to polyester stained fabric was superior than that to cotton stained fabric because of the difference of adhesive force between soil material and fabric in preparing solid stained fabric.
We studied on the softness properties of polyester fabric by vapor type ozone processing using ozone's strong oxidation instead of 25% NaOH chemical treatment. When vapor type ozone processing was directly treated to fabrics retaining water to 40% pick up ratio, high concentration ozone was generated oxidation of 3~4% approximately in polyester fabrics and finally its softness improved. The fabric's softness effect was improved because vapor type ozone generated the highest decomposition to oxidation of surface and inter molecules. The experiment revealed that fabric's softness was improved by change of the time of vapor type ozone processing. However, tensile strength and elongation were reduced by increase in time, 60 minute was assumed as the most optimized time to minimize the reduction of fabric's tensile strength and elongation as well as maximizing the fabric's softness.
This study investigates the dyeability and the fastness of flame retardant polyester fabric developed by a thermal bonding with a low melting component of flame retardant bicomponent filament (LMFRPC). The fabrics were prepared with flame retardant polyester filaments (FRP) as warp and blended filaments of FRP and LMFRPC as weft. The LMFRPC have a sheath and a core where the core comprises a flame retardant polyester and the sheath comprises a thermoplastic polyester with a low-melting point. The thermal bonding of fabric was conducted in a pin tenter at $170^{\circ}C$ for 60 seconds. Fabric dyeing was conducted with an infrared dyeing machine at various dyeing temperatures and dyeing times. The dyestuffs used in this study were CI disperse Yellow 54, Red 60 and Blue 56 of E-type dyestuff and Orange 30, Red 167 and Blue 79 of S-type dyestuff. This study investigated the morphology of thermal bonded fabric, dyeability and fastness of dyed fabric. Dyeability increased with an increased dyeing temperature. The thermal bonded area increased with the increased LMFRPC content. The dyeability of S-type dyestuff was higher than E-type dyestuff; in addition, the saturated dyeing time was about 20minutes at $130^{\circ}C$ for E and S-type dyestuff. The fastness to washing and rubbing were excellent at a 4-5 Grade.
