PolyJet 적층재료의 파괴기준 설정을 위한 유한요소해석 (Finite Element Analysis for Fracture Criterion of PolyJet Materials)

  • PolyJet technology is an additive manufacturing (AM) technology commonly used for modeling, prototyping, and production applications. It is one of the techniques used for 3D printing. The PolyJet technique is a process that joins materials to fabricate a product from 3D CAD data in a layer-by-layer manner. The orientation of a layer can affect the mechanical properties of the product manufactured by the PolyJet technique because of its anisotropy. In this paper, tensile and shearing tests of specimens were developed with the PolyJet technique in order to study the mechanical properties according to the orientation of a layer. The mechanical properties of the specimens were determined on the basis of true stress-strain curves from tensile and shearing tests. In addition, the tensile and shearing tests were simulated under the same conditions as those of experiment, and the experiment and simulated results were compared. Through this study, the fracture criteria could be established.

Accuracy of three-dimensional printing for manufacturing replica teeth

  • Objective: Three-dimensional (3D) printing is a recent technological development that may play a significant role in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment. It can be used to fabricate skull models or study models, as well as to make replica teeth in autotransplantation or tooth impaction cases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of fabrication of replica teeth made by two types of 3D printing technologies. Methods: Fifty extracted molar teeth were selected as samples. They were scanned to generate high-resolution 3D surface model stereolithography files. These files were converted into physical models using two types of 3D printing technologies: Fused deposition modeling (FDM) and PolyJet technology. All replica teeth were scanned and 3D images generated. Computer software compared the replica teeth to the original teeth with linear measurements, volumetric measurements, and mean deviation measurements with best-fit alignment. Paired t-tests were used to statistically analyze the measurements. Results: Most measurements of teeth formed using FDM tended to be slightly smaller, while those of the PolyJet replicas tended to be slightly larger, than those of the extracted teeth. Mean deviation measurements with best-fit alignment of FDM and PolyJet group were 0.047 mm and 0.038 mm, respectively. Although there were statistically significant differences, they were regarded as clinically insignificant. Conclusions: This study confirms that FDM and PolyJet technologies are accurate enough to be usable in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment.

잉크젯 프린팅 기술을 이용한 전도성 폴리머 저항의 제작 (Fabrication of Conductive Polymer Resistors Using Ink-jet Printing Technology)

  • This study has successfully demonstrated the direct fabrication of polymer resistors using ink-jet printing technology as an alternative patterning to traditional photolithography. The polymer resistors were fabricated just by two layer processes using a ink-jet printer (DMP-2800, Fujifilm Dimatix). First, resistive materials was patterned by a ink-jet printing with the desired width and length. Next, resistor fabrication was completed by printing metal contact pads on the both sides of the polymer resistor. We used poly (3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene) poly(styrenesulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS) for the resistor material and a nano-sized silver colloid for the metal contact pads. We characterized the electrical properties of PEDOT:PSS by measuring sheet resistance and specific resistance on a glass substrate. From analysis of the measured resistances, the electrical resistances of the polymer resistors linearly increased as a function of printed width and length of resistors. The accuracy of the fabricated polymer resistor showed about $0.6{\sim}2.5%$ error for the same dimensions.

  • The aim of this reviews is to introduce the information concerning design of the UV-curable jet ink composition in order to provide a good adhesive property on non-porous surface. In order to clarify the viscosity dependence of flying speed for the UV curable jet ink, rheological analysis and observation of the flying state of the ink were carried out. The relationship between ink formulas and adhesive property on non-porous surface was investigated. It was examined the adhesive property of radical polymerization type UV curable jet ink included hydrogen abstraction type photo-initiator, it was expected that the strong adhesive strength can be obtained between the ink and non-porous surface in this study. UV curable jet ink with a slight amount of water was prepared. Optimum ratio of the cationic polymerization type UV curable jet ink shows an adequate adhesive strength towards two kinds of non-porous surface such as glass, poly(vinyl chloride) when tests were conducted on the ink jet-printing test machine.

  • Recently, 3D printer technologies have been used in many research efforts for high precision manufacturing. In particular, the rapid prototyping technology has been developing rapidly, because it can be manufactured in a short time with a 3D designed shape. This paper relates to the production characteristics of the straight bevel gear designed using a 3D print using the PolyJet method. The characteristics of a 3D printed straight bevel gear were compared with a machined straight bevel gear. The accuracy of the produced straight bevel gear was evaluated by backlash, meshing pattern, face angle, root angle, and surface roughness.

적층조형 폴리머 재료의 기계적 물성 연구 (A Study on the Mechanical Properties of Additive Manufactured Polymer Materials)

  • 적층조형(additive manufacturing, AM)은 액체, 고체 상태인 폴리머, 금속 등의 재료를 층층이 쌓아서 3 차원 형상을 제조하는 기술이다. AM 기술은 제품 개발 초기단계에서 시제품 제작에 주로 사용되었으나, 최근 들어 이를 실제 제품제작에 적용하는 것에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 한편 AM 기술에서 적층방향은 최종성형품의 기계적 물성에 영향을 줄 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 폴리머 재료를 사용하는 대표적인 AM 기술인 FDM, PolyJet 그리고 SLA 방식으로 제작되는 재료의 기계적 물성을 실험을 통해 파악하여 보았다. 이때 시험편의 형상은 ASTM D 638 을 참고하였고 적층방향을 달리하여 성형하였다. 시험편의 인장시험으로부터 얻은 응력-변형률 선도를 바탕으로 기계적 물성을 조사하였다. 또한 시험편의 파단부를 SEM 촬영하여 물성차이의 결과를 분석하였다.

P3HT(poly-3-hexylthiophene)를 이용한 고분자 유기 TFT 제작을 위한 Ink-jet printing 기술 응용 (Application of Ink-jet Printing Technology for Fabrication of Polymer Organic TFT using P3HT(poly-3-hexylthiophene))

  • 본 논문에서는 p-type 고분자 물질인 P3HT (Poly-3-hexylthiophene)를 잉크젯 프린팅 방식으로 활성화층을 적층함으로써 Organic thin film transistor를 제작하여 이에 대한 특성을 연구하였다. Piezoelectric 방식의 잉크젯 프린팅을 이용하여 P3HT single drop jetting 시 두께 $150{\sim}200{\AA}$, 직경 약 70 ~ 80 um정도의 drop profile을 얻을 수 있었다. P3HT의 solvent로서 Chlorobenzene을 사용하여 농도 약 0.5 wt.%의 Ink-jet용 ink를 제작하여 이를 Channel Width 37, 236 um 크기의 Au 전극 위에 jetting 하여 각각의 특성을 측정하였다. 상기 실험은 상온의 외부환경에서 실시되었으며 실험 결과 최대 ${\mu}=1{\times}10^{-2}\;cm^2/Vsec$, $I_{on}/I_{off}=10^3{\sim}10^4$ 정도로서 off current가 높은 편이나 이동도 측면에서는 다른 방법의 박막 증착 실험결과와 비교할 때 동등 수준의 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

Optimization of Aqueous Nano Ceramic Ink and Printing Characterization for Digital Ink-Jet Printing

  • The advantage of ceramic ink-jet printing technology is the accurate and fast printing process of digital images for various products. For digital ink-jet printing applications, ceramic ink requires proper viscosity and surface tension, along with dispersion stability of the inorganic pigments. The purpose of this study is the formulation of an environment-friendly ceramic ink with a water-based system; using nano-sized $CoAl_2O_4$ pigment as a raw material, ink should have dispersion stability to prevent nozzle clogging during ink-jet printing process. In addition, the surface tension of the ceramic ink was optimized with the polysiloxane surfactant according to the surface tension requirement (20 - 45 mN/m) for ceramic ink-jet printing; by adjusting the viscosity with poly ethylene oxide, jetting behavior of the ceramic ink was investigated according to changes in the physical features through drop watcher measurement.
