  • In this work, we prepared ultramicroporous carbons (UC) prepared by pyrolyzing poly(vinylidene fluoride) with different carbonization temperatures, and investigated the hydrogen storage behaviors. The surface functional groups and specific elements of UC were confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), respectively. Textural properties were analyzed using $N_2$ adsorption isotherms at 77 K. The hydrogen storage capacity of the UC samples were investigated by BEL-HP at 298 K/10 MPa. From the results, it was found that the hydrogen storage capacity was enhanced with increasing of specific surface area, resulting from the formation of ultramicropore on the UC.

  • Electrospray deposited films of poly(vinylidene fluoride) were prepared with various conditions. A model has been developed, which provides the state of the electrosprayed droplet at impact. With a combination of the experimental films and the model calculations, it can be shown that growth rate, the increase of the sprayed solution on the substrate per second, defines the film morphology in electrospray deposition. Growth rate indicates which factors play the main role in the film formation process. The most important factors are liquid flow, surface tension and shear rate. The model can calculate the shear rate and it is shown that PVDF, and most likely polymers in general, has a large range of growth rates, where the morphology only depends on the shear rate of the depositing droplet. This method can also be used to describe electrospray deposition of other compounds.

  • Ionic polymer-metal composite (IPMC) soaked with various ionic liquids was prepared by using polystyrene sulfonic acid-grafted poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) as ion-exchange membrane (IEM). The prepared IPMCs were effectively deformed three times larger and actuated for 300 times longer than those of Nafion with water at the same applied conditions. The experimental results indicated than the increase in the bending capability can be caused by the increase in the improved properties of the IEMs and ionic liquids such as uptake content and ionic conductivity. And air-operating stability of the IPMCs is appreciably governed by various physical and electrochemical properties of soaked solvents in IEMs.

  • The article presents the recent research development in polymer ferroelectric non-volatile memory. A brief overview is given of the history of ferroelectric memory and device architectures based on inorganic ferroelectric materials. Particular emphasis is made on device elements such as metal/ferroelectric/metal type capacitor, metal-ferroelectric-insulator-semiconductor (MFIS) and ferroelectric field effect transistor (FeFET) with ferroelectric poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and its copolymers with trifluoroethylene (TrFE). In addition, various material and process issues for realization of polymer ferroelectric non-volatile memory are discussed, including the control of crystal polymorphs, film thickness, crystallization and crystal orientation and the unconventional patterning techniques.

  • As the rapid development of the electronics, the demand for portable electronics and wireless sensors is growing faster, also with the increased needs of one material which can power it automatically, and then power the electrical devices. The piezoelectric effect of the PVDF material can be used for this. So in this paper, PVDF multilayer films were made for this aim. Make the PVDF / DMAc solution in the 10% concentration; use the spin coater technique to make films with the optimum process parameters: the spin rate is 1260rpm; the spin time is 70s; the dry temperature is 100$^{\circ}C$; the dry time is 30mins. And also, for obtaining the higher $\beta$-phase crystallinity, put the Ca(NH3)2.4H2O into the PVDF / DMAc solution system.

  • The microstrip patch antenna with PVDF (poly vinylidene fluoride) substrate, were experimentally studied at frequency 6 GHz. During the design of the essential elements of microstrip antenna, EM simulation tool Ensemble V 7.0 is used. We observed the resonant frequency by DC appled electric field in a microstrip patch antenna. This research has been made as an electronically tunable microstrip antenna, taking advantage of the voltage control dielectric substrate and piezoelectric properties substrate. We discuss the effect of substrates, electric field and piezoelectric phenomena in the PVDF microstrip antenna. The antenna frequency can be changed by varying the applied dc voltage. In this paper, we propose, a new technique to agile frequency of the microstrip antenna by using the PVDF piezoelectric substrate.

  • The authors fabricated ultrasonic transducer with PVDF[poly(vinylidene fluoride)] piezoelectric polymer film. When impulse waves were applied to the PVDF ultrasonic transducer, the dependence of the response properties on the backing material with copper was investigated through not only theoretical calculations using Mason's equivalent circuit but also experimental measurements. The experimental pulse response properties agree with those of the theoretical calculations and the pulses were shorter than those for a PZT transducer. If such short-pulse properties are used in an medical ultrasonic image diagnosis apparatus, the resolution of the apparatus will be improved. When the insertion loss was calculated theoretically to the PVDF ultrasonic transducer, the frequency characteristics of its showed wideband frequency.

  • Gel polymer electrolytes were prepared by immersing a porous poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) membrane in an electrolyte solution containing small amounts of polymerizable additive (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene, thiophene, biphenyl). The organic additives were electrochemically oxidized to form conductive polymer films on the electrode at high potential. With the gel polymer electrolytes containing different organic additive, lithium-ion polymer cells composed of carbon anode and LiCo$O_2$ cathode were assembled and their cycling performances were evaluated. Adding small amounts of thiophene or 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene to the gel polymer electrolyte was found to reduce the charge transfer resistance in the cell and it thus exhibited less capacity fading and better high rate performance.

  • To realize the flexible audible display (FAD), polymer dispersed liquid crystal(PDLC) is deposited on PVDF(Poly-vinylidene fluoride) film with piezoelectric property. With applied audio signal, it makes sound more than 70 dB in 700 Hz-10kHz. In case of transparency it is opaque and transmittance is less than 10% at 550nm wavelength without bias voltage. It is turned to be transparent and show transmittance of 66% with driving voltage of 60V.

  • The electro-optic properties in Langmuir Blodgett films of poly (vinylidene fluoride trifluoroethylene) are investigated in the crossover region between two and three dimensions. The absence of finite size effect is observed in the films thinner than 20 nm, which confirms that these films are two dimensional ferroelectrics. The copolymer LB film of P(VDF-TrFE) exhibits the largest electro-optic response(26 pm/V) at 10 layer thickness. The cross-over behavior of electro-optic effect around the 10 layer thickness was discussed with the formation of nanomesa after thermal annealing.
