  • Recently, as the demand for high-precision parts increases due to industrial development, a machine tool system for ultra-precision machining and polishing has been actively developed. As a result, there is an increasing demand for ultra-precision surface roughness along with dimensional processing. However, due to the increase in processing time due to the demand for ultra-precise surfaces and enormous facility investment, it is difficult to secure competitiveness. The polishing process using the abrasive film in super precision machining has been applied to machines, electronic devices, aerospace, and medical fields. Super finishing using the abrasive film which is applied in the industrial field recently can achieve high surface roughness in a short time. Super finishing using the abrasive film which is applied in the industrial field recently can achieve high surface roughness in a short time. Also, application of industrial field is increasing due to advantages such as low noise and low dust. Recently, researches on stainless steel having strong resistance to corrosion, heat resistance, heat resistance, toughness and weldability have been actively conducted with respect to the nuclear energy industry or marine development. Therefore, in this study, surface roughness and residual stress were measured after SUS304 polishing using dynamic analysis of film polishing apparatus and polishing film.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to confirm the applicability of gloss polishing using automatic barrel finishing with respect to three-dimensional (3D)-printed resin specimens. The surface roughness and grinding angle of the 3D-printed resin specimens were observed with respect to gloss polishing time using automatic dental barrel finishing. Methods: Herein, experiments were conducted on four types of 3D-printed resin specimens. The specimens, with a thickness of 100 ㎛ each, were printed using a 3D printer. Subsequently, light polymerization was performed on these specimens for 15 min. Post this surface treatment, the specimens underwent grinding for 25 min. This process was followed by gloss polishing at 5-min intervals for up to 25 min using automatic dental barrel finishing. The specimens were photographed using a 3D optical microscope, and their surface roughness and grinding angle were measured. Results: The Ra (centerline average roughness) values of all the specimens, except for crown & bridge 10 group and those in the control group that were not polished using automatic barrel finishing, were <0.2 ㎛. However, polishing time needs to be controlled to realize the desired surface roughness and grinding amount considering the hardness of the resin used. Conclusion: Gloss polishing of 3D-printed resin can be realized using automatic dental barrel finishing. However, polishing time needs to be controlled to realize the desired surface roughness and grinding amount considering the hardness of the resin used.

  • Recently, many studies are being conducted to realize high quality polishing technology, but because of high dependence on field experience and insufficient research for ultra-precision polishing technology, it is difficult to establish standardization of polishing conditions. The purpose of this study is to determine high-efficiency superfinishing conditions which are applicable in the field of machining. To achieve this, we have a developed a superfinishing device and conducted a series of polishing experiments for mechanical materials such as SM45C, Brass, Al7075, and Ti, from the perspective of oscillation speed, the rotational speed of the workpiece, contact roller hardness, contact pressure, and feed rate. From the experimental results, it was confirmed that the polishable superfinishing conditions range and efficient feed rate of polishing film can be determined.

  • ELID(ELectrolytic In-process Dressing) grinding is an excellent technique for mirror grinding of various advanced metallic or nonmetallic materials. A polishing process is also required for elimination of scratches present on ELID grinded surfaces. MAP(Magnetic Assisted Polishing) has been used as a polishing method due to its high polishing efficiency and to its resulting in a superior surface quality. This study describes an effective fabrication method combining ELID and MAP of nano-precision mirror grinding for glass-lens molding mould, such as WC-Co, which are extensively used in precision tooling material. And for the optics glass-ceramic named Zerodure, which is extensively used in precision optics components too. The experimental results show that the combined method is very effective in reducing the time required for final polishing. The best surface roughness of the polished glass-ceramic was within 1.7nm Ra in this study.

  • The magnetic polishing is the useful method to finish using magnetic power of a magnet. The time hasn't been that long since the magnetic polishing method was introduced to korea as one of precision polishing techniques. However, the reasons for not being spreaded widely are the magnetic polishing method don't have mediocrity for machine, the efficiency of magnet-abrasive is confined as a bad polishing, and there are not many researchers in this field. The mechanism of this R&D is dealing with the dynamic state of magnet-abrasive. This paper deals with mediocritizing magnetic polishing device into regular lathe and this experiment was conducted in order to get a best surface roughness with low cost. Beside the subsidiary experiment was performed using the mixed magnet-abrasive with general alumina, barium. This paper introduced the main reason for difficulty using this method in industrial field. It needs more continues research on it. This paper contains the result of experiment to acquire the best surface roughness, not using the high-cost polishing material in processing. • This article reports a new chemical bath for preparing a mirror-like surface of AZ31 Mg alloy. In order to find an appropriate chemical polishing solution, four different acidic solutions of sulphuric acid, nitric acid, acetic acid and a specially designed mixture of nitric acid and acetic acid were investigated in view of the changes in surface appearance, roughness and dissolution rate of AZ31 Mg alloy. The surface scales on AZ31 Mg alloy were readily removed by all the acidic solutions, but a reflective surface was produced only by etching in the specially designed solution, and only after a specific etching time. The surface roughness increased with etching time in sulphuric acid, nitric acid, and acetic acid, but it lowered after a specific etching time in the specially designed mixture of nitric acid and acetic acid. Dissolution rate of the alloy in the specially designed mixture of nitric acid and acetic acid appeared to be more than twice than that in separate nitric acid or acetic acid. In this work, we recommend the mirror-like surface of AZ31 Mg alloy obtained by polishing for an optimum time in a mixture of nitric acid and acetic acid for following surface finishings, chemical conversion coating, electroplating, electrophoretic painting and anodizing treatment.

  • To evaluate the marginal leakage in Class V cavity this study has been undertaken to compare the sandwich technique with the conventional method, and find out the effect of lining material, lining method, and polishing time on sandwich technique. Ninty extracted teeth were divided into eight test groups and a control group, and were prepared with a buccal Class V cavity. Four test groups were lined with Dentin Cement whereas the other four test groups were lined with Vitrabond. Half of the either group were lined 0.5mm short of the carvosurface margin and the rest were lined completely to the carvosurface margin. The four subgroups were further divided into specimens which were polished immediately and 24 hours after resin filling. The polished specimens were immersed in $37^{\circ}C$, 0.5% methylene blue solution for 24 hous after thermocycling at $5^{\circ}C$ and $55^{\circ}C$, 200 times and buccolingually sectioned. The sectioned specimens were examined dye penetration under the light microscope. The following results were obtained, 1. At the enamel margin, the conventional method showed a lower microleakage than the sandwich technique. The difference between the control and Vitrabond group was statistically significant(P<0.05), but no difference between the control and Dentin Cement group, and between the lining materials was observed. 2. At the dentinal margin, the sandwich technique showed a significant lower amount of microleakage (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between the lining materials. 3. Regardless of the lining material, lining method, and polishing time used, values of microleakage were significantly higher at the dentinal margin compared to the enamel margin(P<0.05). 4. In specimens till the cavosurface margin, microleakage at the dentinal margin was less with the light-cured base than with the chemically-cured base, but there was no siginificantly difference between the lining materials regarding the lining method and polishing time. 5. The lining material, lining method, and polishing time did not affect the amount of micro leakage in the sandwich technique(P<0.05).

  • Purpose: This study aimed to observed changes in the shape of dental barrels based on application time. Machinability measures the angle of alloy specimens. Polishing performance measures the surface roughness of alloy specimens. Methods: The dental barrel polishing equipment used in this study was a Snow Barrel (DK Mungyo). Three types of cobalt-chromium alloys for partial dentures were used as specimens (BC CAST R [BP]; Bukwang, Vera PDI [VP]; Aalbadent, and GM 800+ [GP]; Dentaurum). Specimens were prepared in the form of plates (10 mmx10 mmx2 mm). Dental barrel polishing was performed at 450 rpm for 60 minutes with intervals of 5 minutes. The processing angle was measured using a microscope (SZ61; Olympus). Results: For the angle measurement, the VPC specimen was measured at 78.64°, 36.00° for the VP60 specimen, 79.57° for the BP control (BPC) specimen, 28.07° for the BP60 specimen, 75.01° for the GPC specimen, and 39.92° for the GP60 specimen. For the surface roughness measurements, the average surface roughness of the VPC and VP15 specimens were 1.09 ㎛ and 0.26 ㎛, respectively. The average surface roughness of the BPC and BP20 specimens were 1.77 ㎛ and 0.29 ㎛, respectively. The average surface roughness of the GPC and GP15 specimens were 1.08 ㎛ and 0.27 ㎛. Conclusion: The results were excellent after about 20 minutes of dental barrel polishing conditions presented in this study.
