표준부하모델을 이용한 설계 변수에 따른 표준부하량 분석 (A Study on Standard Heating and Cooling Load according to Design Factors using Prototypical Load Model)

  • Before newly-built building and building remodeling, it is important to predict and analyze building energy performance through energy simulation programs. Nevertheless, simulation results widely vary depending on individual user experience and input values. Therefore, this study uses prototypical building model, a versatile tool in building energy modeling, simulation and research for researchers and policy-makers, and ASHRAE standards. Then, it analyzed the changes in design type (roof type, number of floors) for the base case. As the result, it was found that the gap of annual energy demand per between them is maximally 9.1%.

  • It is important to understand sense of community and community participation for successful community development projects. This study aims to identify the factors influencing community participation on sense of community. Data were collected from 173 usable respondents from 8 villages in Gyeongsangnam-do. Results of a factor analysis yielded two dimensions of sense of community which were shared emotional connection/influence and reinforcement of needs/membership. Hierarchical regression analysis revealed that female, less educated, younger are more likely to be highly participated. The study suggested that policy makers and community practitioners consider the sense of community, age, gender, and educational background to enhance community participation.

A Study on Linking Korean Wave and Corporate Image on Country Image, Perceived Quality: A Study of China

  • This study examines the linkage between Korean wave, corporate image and country image, perceived quality of products made in the country. To close a gap lacking empirical studies on impacts of corporate image to country image and to further understand impacts of Korean wave, this study conducts survey over Chinese consumers to test the effects of corporate image, Korean wave to the country image, and verify on its effects to perceived quality of the products made in the country. The results show that both corporate image and Korean wave influences to form positive country image of Korea, and perceived quality of Korean made products. The size of effects varies upon products type and stimuli. This study could provide policy makers insights how to promote country image as well as support SMEs for developing overseas markets. Also, it could give marketers valuable implications to develop effective global marketing strategies using cultural assets, country image and salient corporate image.

Education as a Soft Power Resource to Promotion of Immigration and Assimilation in Japan

  • The concept of soft power presents both theoretical and practical difficulties for researchers and policy makers. This essay examines the practical use of soft power and argues that soft power resources in education are important for attracting individuals to migrate between countries and assimilate to the new language and culture of the new location. Japan's attempts to utilize soft power resources in its educational system have provided mixed results dependent on the target population. Japan has successfully attracted individuals into fields related to higher education much more so than skilled labor programs. This essay discusses the importance of educational soft power resources in Japanese strategy to increase educated working population that is assimilated to Japanese language and culture. After reviewing the literature on soft power in Asia, and Japanese cultural integration policies, the essay examines three cases of Japanese educational soft power - the JET Programme, the caregiver-training program, and internationalization of university programs. In addition, the essay shows that Japan is more successful attracting higher educated individuals seeking higher paying employment rather than skilled labor through these programs.

The Effects of Job Satisfaction on the Life Satisfaction of Individuals with Disabilities

  • Purpose - The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of job satisfaction related attributes on the level of life satisfaction of individuals with disabilities. Job satisfaction related elements consist of wage level, job stability, working condition, career development, and communication. Design/methodology/approach - For the data collection, this research made use of The Korean Panel Survey of Employment for people with disabilities, with the study period consisting of 2016-2018, and the number of observations measuring 4405. For the data analysis, the ordinary least square, fixed effect, and random effect regression models were used. Findings - The results indicate that the life satisfaction of people with disabilities is positively influenced by wage satisfaction, job stability satisfaction, working condition satisfaction, career development satisfaction, and communication satisfaction. Research implications or Originality - This study informs policy makers for the design of welfare for people with disability, specifically related to their labor conditions.

생태관광객의 지각된 가치가 충성도에 미치는 영향 - 환경친화적 태도의 조절효과 - (Perceived Value Influencing Loyalty in Ecotourist - Moderating Effects of Environmental Friendly Attitude -)

  • This study aims to examine the moderating effects of environmental friendly attitudes between perceived value and loyalty in ecotourists. A total of 210 valid questionnaires were collected from visitors to Saemangeum and Sihwaho during 7 days. The functional value, social value, and emotional value were identified as dimensions of perceived value from factor analysis. Results from regression analysis revealed that emotional value and social value positively influenced loyalty. Moreover, environmental friendly attitudes were found to moderate the relationship between loyalty and emotional and social values. The findings suggest that policy makers and practitioners consider environmental friendly attitude and perceived values in making ecotourism programs to sustain ecotourism destinations.

The Effects of Paid Family Leave on Corporate Social Responsibility

  • Purpose - The objective of this research is to investigate how lowering labor market frictions for female workers affects corporate social responsibility (CSR). Design/methodology/approach - We utilize the staggered adoption of state-level Paid Family Leave (PFL) acts in the U.S. These acts provide significant flexibility for female employees by mandating paid leave for a family or medical events. Our study is based on a sample of 30,027 publicly traded firms in the U.S. from 1991 to 2012. We employ a difference-in-differences research design, considering treated firms as those headquartered in states that enacted PFL laws. Findings - We find that there is a significant increase in the firms' CSR performance following the adoption of the PFL, suggesting that lowering the labor market frictions for female workers encourages firms to invest in CSR initiatives. Research implications or Originality - This study informs policy makers that PFL enables firms to reduce costly employee turnover and results in an increase in CSR performance.

마켓 타이밍과 유상증자 (Market Timing and Seasoned Equity Offering)

  • Purpose - In this study, we propose an empirical model for predicting seasoned equity offering (SEO here after) using machine learning methods. Design/methodology/approach - The models utilize the random forest method based on decision trees that considers non-linear relationships, as well as the gradient boosting tree model. SEOs incur significant direct and indirect costs. Therefore, CEOs' decisions of seasoned equity issuances are made only when the benefits outweigh the costs, which leads to a non-linear relationship between SEOs and a determinant of them. Particularly, a variable related to market timing effectively exhibit such non-linear relations. Findings - To account for these non-linear relationships, we hypothesize that decision tree-based random forest and gradient boosting tree models are more suitable than the linear methodologies due to the non-linear relations. The results of this study support this hypothesis. Research implications or Originality - We expect that our findings can provide meaningful information to investors and policy makers by classifying companies to undergo SEOs.

정보화사업 투자에 대한 시차효과 분석: 산업인력정보화 중심 (An Analysis of the Time-Lag Effect on the Investment of Informatization for Industrial Human Resources)

  • 정보화 사업에 대한 투자성과가 언제부터 어떻게 나타날 것인가의 시차 연구는 정책개발 및 정보시스템 도입 시 의사결정에 중요한 연구이다. 그러나 대부분의 정보화 성과평가 방법론들은 평가시점에 따라 사전/과정/사후평가의 한 시점에서 평가할 뿐 시간 경과에 따른 정보를 제공하는데는 한계가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 정보화 효과 분석 및 시차와 관련한 선행연구들을 살펴보고 전자정부 사업의 일환으로 추진된 산업인력정보화 사업의 워크넷 시스템에 대한 시차효과를 파악하는 방법론을 제시하고, 이를 실증 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 DB 데이터를 이용한 시차분석, 이용자들의 업무프로세스 분석을 통한 시차분석, IT투자 대비 효과를 이용한 시차분석 등 다양한 관점에서 시차효과 분석방법을 제시하였다. 또한 다양한 시차효과 분석방법을 국가인적자원개발 및 노동시장활성화를 지원하는 워크넷에 적용하여 검증을 시도하였다. 본 연구를 통해 시차분석을 위한 몇 가지 방법론을 제시하였으며, 산업인력 정보화사업의 성과가 시차를 두고 향상되었다는 것을 발견하였으며, 정보화와 성과 간에 발생하는 시차현상의 존재 가능성에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.

UHD 방송 상용화에 따른 효율적 시스템에 대한 방안 분석 연구 (Analysis Methods for Efficient Commercialization System in Accordance with the UHD Broadcasts)

  • UHD 방송 상용화에 따른 효율적 시스템에 대한 방안을 위해서는 정부의 UHD 보급 확대에 필요한 지원과 정책이 필요하다. 물론 UHD TV의 보급과 콘텐츠 개발도 시급하다 할 것이다. 방송통신위원회는 이미 지난 2010년 5월 국내 방송통신 시장 활성화를 위해 10대 방송통신 미래 서비스를 선정해 발표하는 자리에서 'UHD 방송의 도입'을 약속한 바 있다. 하지만 아직까지는 만족스러운 지원책과 정책들이 나오지 않고 있다. 이러한 부분에서는 정부, 기업, 소비자 모두의 의견이 조율되어 있어야 해결 방안이 나올 수 있다고 본다. 하지만 모두 한자리에서 의견을 나누는 것이 어려운 일이기에 이번 연구로 정부와 기업, 소비자들의 의견을 모아 좀 더 효율적이고 많은 활용법을 확산할 수 있도록 다방면으로 방법을 찾아보려고 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 위 내용의 해결책을 제시하기 위한 연구로 세계의 UHD 보급 현황을 구체적인 방안과 객관적인 자료를 토대로 UHD 방송 상용화에 따른 효율적인 시스템에 대한 방안 연구를 진행할 것이며 UHD 보급 확대에 필요한 소비자들의 반응과 콘텐츠 제작에 필요한 제작자와 정부의 지원책에 대한 적극적인 방안에 대하여 연구하게 될 것이다. 정부와 기업, 그리고 UHD 방송 콘텐츠를 개발할 제작자들에게 이번 연구결과가 조금이나마 보탬이 될 수 있는 지침서가 되길 바란다.
