  • In this study, a simple regression model is proposed in order to analyse the effect of population and urban land use on the water quality of Paldang lake, Gyeonggi. As a comparison result with Qua12E water quality model, the proposed model shows very good predicting performance in simulating several alternative scenarios. In order to accomplish BOD 1ppm of Paldang lake, various model applications show that the population incoming and urban land use management should be afoot in addition to stricter outflow water quality from sewer treatmement systems.

  • We analyze the determinants of obesity and the chronic diseases using the Korea Health Panel data. Also we analyze the effect of obesity and the chronic diseases on the health care expenditures. Through this study, to reduce the health care expenditures, we suggest the policy implication that might curb the obesity and the chronic diseases. We estimate the determinants of obesity, the chronic diseases, and the health care expenditures using 2SLS (two stage least squares) estimation method under the simultaneous equations framework. Result says that obesity and chronic diseases significantly have positive effects on the health care expenditures. Also the determinants of the health care expenditures that have positive effects are age, income and health care utilization variables.

  • Government R&D grants for SMEs have risen to three trillion Korean won a year, placing Korea second among OECD nations. Indeed, analysis results have revealed that government support has not only expanded corporate R&D investment and the registration of intellectual property rights but has also increased investment in tangible and human assets and marketing. However, value added, sales and operating profit have lacked improvement owing to an ineffective recipient selection system that relies solely on qualitative assessments by technology experts. Nevertheless, if a predictive model is properly applied to the system, the causal effect on value added could increase by more than two fold. Accordingly, it is important to focus on economic performance rather than technical achievements to develop such a model.

  • This study investigates the impact of inflation rate fluctuations on economic growth in China, with a particular focus on potential non-linear characteristics. The global economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic notably heightens the study's relevance. The research that the unidirectional causal relationship from inflation to economic growth in China first strengthens and then weakens over time. Furthermore, there is an inflation rate threshold effect on economic growth, identified at 2%. Below this threshold, inflation positively influences economic growth, whereas above it, the impact turns negative. This finding underscores the importance of balancing economic growth with inflation control in the formulation of monetary policy.

  • The ripple effect is analyzed in the post-construction evaluation phase, but only the qualitative analysis and simple numerical fluctuations are analyzed, thus, no reliable ripple-effect analysis has been conducted. Therefore, in this study, a focus group interview was conducted with 10 experts to propose a plan to improve the ripple effect metrics. Consequently, by linking with the policy-effect metrics of the pre-feasibility study, it is expected that the utilization of the analysis results will be improved and objective and quantitative analysis will be possible.

  • Long term water quality change was analyzed to evaluate the effect of the Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) policy. A trend analysis was performed for biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and total phosphorus (TP) concentrations data monitored at the outlets of the total 41 TMDL unit watersheds of the Nakdong River in the Republic of Korea. Because water quality data do not usually follow a normal distribution, a nonparametric statistical trend analysis method was used. The monthly mean values of BOD and TP for the period between 2004 and 2015 were analyzed by the seasonal Mann-Kendall test and the locally weighted scatterplot smoother (LOWESS). The TMDL policy effect on the water quality change of each unit watershed was analyzed together with the results of the trend analysis. From the seasonal Mann-Kendall test results, it was found that for BOD, 7.8 % of the 41 points showed downward trends, 26.8 % and the rest 65.9% showed upward and no trends. For TP, 51.2% showed no trends and the rest 48.8% showed downward trends. From the LOWESS analysis results, TP began to decrease in most of the unit watersheds from mid-2010s when intensive chemical treatment processes were introduced to existing wastewater treatment plants. Overall, for BOD, relatively more points were improved in the main stream compared to the points of the tributaries although overall trends were mostly no trend or upward. For TP, about half of the points were improved and the rest showed no trends.

  • We study the effect of the high-skilled emigration rate on the growth rate of the source countries. We incorporate the foreign direct investment and the policy variables into the panel model and also their interactions with the high-skilled emigration rate, as they are related to the network externality that may be created by the high-skilled emigrants working abroad. We apply the static fixed-effects model and compare it with the results obtained in the dynamic panel model with system generalized methods of moments estimators. We find the negative effect of the high-skilled emigration rate by itself and in its interaction with the foreign direct investment only in the dynamic model. However, we find positive coefficient for the interaction of the high-skilled emigration rate and the civil liberties index, which holds across the static and dynamic specifications. This implies that the effect of the high-skilled emigration rate on the growth rate of the source countries can be positive, and the extent is larger for countries with 'poor' civil liberties. The developing countries with low levels of foreign direct investment inflows and 'poor' civil liberties can best benefit from the high levels of skilled emigration outward. Through finding significant interactions with other variables, we confirm that the high-skilled emigration should be considered along with other related variables in measuring its impact on growth. The implications offer suggestions for the international trade and aid policies.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of disability acceptance mediated with policy trust on the life satisfaction and group difference of disability type. For this purpose, the raw data(2nd wave, 2st survey) of Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled(PSED) conducted by the Korea Employment for the Disabled were used. Among the respondents, the data of 2,378 of the external physical disabled and 571 of mental disabled were analyzed. For the analysis, the structural equation model was used to verify the effect of mediation and group difference. The result of the study were as follows. First, disability acceptance of the disabled people effect on the life satisfaction by policy trust, and this was verified with partial mediated model. Second, In both groups, the external physical disabled and metal health disabled, disability acceptance and policy trust were the predictors of life satisfaction. Third, the difference in path coefficients between the two groups of external physical disabled and mental disabled was identified. Based on the results of this study, action plans were discussed to improve the life satisfaction of the disabled.

  • The debate surrounding advertising effectiveness is not to be overstated as a major source of advertising research. However, there is still a lack of discussion on the model for measuring the effects of government and public service advertising. This study focuses on this point and develops an index model that can evaluate government advertising. For this purpose, we conducted a survey of 800 respondents in 7 major cities. Based on the creativity evaluation factors (originality, clarity, and appropriateness) of government advertising and the evaluation factors (interest, avoidance, and relevance) of policy contents, a causal model that affects the cognition, attitude, and behavioral responses of the audience was set up. As a result of analysis, originality, clarity, interest, and relevance except for appropriateness and avoidance were meaningful variables for creating government advertising effect such as policy understanding, audience attitude, word of mouth intention of policy. In addition, policy understanding and audience attitude were the main mediating variable influencing the word of mouth intention of policy. Based on research results, this paper discussed the direction for creating effective government and public service advertising in the future.

  • This study extensively investigated Japan's FTA strategy and plan of FTA policy and analyzed the economic effect caused by it. In the analysis of economic effect using world economical model shows not only positive economic effect in home country but also to the foreign country. Recently, Japan's bilateral relation with Korea and China is getting worse, not in a friendly way. Consequently Japan's future FTA negotiation will be expected to be focused on the East-Asia region. In other words, Japan expressed assistance for the purpose of communication, stability and prosperity in the East-Asia and will seek individual economic cooperation with each East-Asia country trying to reinforce the stand of Japan. This means that Japan is trying to improve the relation with Korea and China in the other way because it cannot change the relation with Korea and China on its own. That is to say, It can be interpreted as Japan is trying to reinforce the economic cooperation with other East-Asia countries for the realization of East Asia community rather than directly negotiating with Korea or China.
