The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of problem solving with task-based activities on understanding of major concepts and learning attitude in 'Applications of ICT' subject. In teaching the 4th class of 'Applications of ICT' subject, problem solving with reasoning task-based activities are used for the experimental groups and instructor-oriented teaching for the comparative groups. The results are as follows: First, no meaningful difference was found in the pretest result of concepts of ICT, while posttest found that the students with problem solving with reasoning task-based activities in experimental group marked average 5.87 point higher than the control group and showed meaningful difference at significance level p<.05. Dividing concepts about Information Communication Technology into four domains, there were no meaningful difference between two groups in the concept test about communication principles and methods and network, while the test results about the other two concepts, that is, expressions and patterns of information and compositions and types of communication network, showed the meaningful difference at significance level p<.05. Second, the research proved that the experimental group with problem solving with reasoning task-based activity teaching, compared to the control group with lecture, showed desirable change in learning attitude. From the results, the solving with reasoning task-based activity model is better teaching-learning method compared to lecture, revealing positive change in understanding major concepts of information and communication technology and learning attitude.
In this article, major research trends are examined mainly from articles published in Journal of the Korean Geography, academic society journals of sub-fields in geography and Ph.D. dissertations in geography of universities in Korea. Based on the research trends up to current point, issues and research directions in order to raise the status of Korean Geography in the twenty first century are prospected. Sixty years of Korean Geography can be divided into 4 periods such as before 1970s, during the 1980s, during the 1990s, and the period after the 2001. Each period of time revealed distinct aspects of development both quantitatively and qualitatively. For the last 60 years, the study of Korean Geography has gone through enormous changes in the number of articles with dynamics and variety in contents and methodology, breathing with the changes of the Korean society. Experiencing urbanization and industrialization along with rapid economical growth, the study of Korean Geography has progressed by analyzing the issues and problems of national space and conducting various researches from the case studies for problem-solving to the theoretical and policy oriented studies. The key-words such as 'knowledge based information society', 'aged society', and 'the era of globalization' will be realized in the twenty flit century. And environment-friendly policies for sustainable development will be more stressed in a globalized world. In order to provide research methods and alternatives suitable for newly transformed global society and for utilizing the essence of Geography in the future, the studies on Korean Geography should actively focus on integrative studies between physical and human geography, on interdisciplinary studies, on regional studies related to foreign countries and North Korea, and on the establishment of Korean geographical theory and model.

This study empirically analyzed the relationship with major influencing factors in enhancing innovation capability of start-ups and their influence on innovation performance. If the existing innovation competency studies were analyzed from a general corporate perspective, In this study, it was analyzed from the perspective of start-up companies with less than 7 years of founding. As a result of a survey on startups, learning competency among the sub-variables of innovation competency, R&D competency and marketing competency are significant positive (+) consistent with both organizational competence related to organizational culture and organizational goals, technology commercialization competency, and close product competency. Has been shown to affect. The technical competence part does not have a significant effect on the product competency. However, it could not be interpreted that the importance of these competencies was low. This is because although technical competence did not directly affect product competency, it was analyzed as a meaningful result in relation to R&D competency. In addition, the characteristics of the company were classified into technology orientation and market orientation, and the relationship between each sub-variable was analyzed. The technical competence of a technology-oriented company did not have a significant effect on the product competency, but it was found that it had an effective effect on the R&D capacity. It is also consistent with the research findings that the initial survival rate is low as the characteristics of start-ups are often based on technology and ideas. Based on these results, There is a difference in major innovation capabilities according to the growth stage of a company. From a practical point of view, I would like to present approaches and implications for strengthening the competence of start-ups.
The establishment of Culture Technology Institute is now under discussion. In case of advanced countries (including USA, Japan and EU) practices market-oriented policies in the area of culture and entertainment industry. Therefore it is hard to find out Government-funded Institute which Korea could benchmark. In this situation, there are many different opinions about its organizational structure, size of organization and budget, and when the institute should be established. This study proposed a Consolidated-Decentralized model as a proper organizational structure after evaluating 4 different models based on 4 criterion. And based on results produced by the model developed for our research, this study suggested proposals that the number of research personnel and the size of budget should be larger than 300 persons and 1200 billion won respectively. However, the establishment of institute should be decided by not only economic factor but also various factors such as political element, externality, private company investment and effect on production inducement etc. If new institute focused on different area from ETRI, then the time and size of the institute could be decided by the result of policy analysis.

Urban discourse can be used to create a better living environment through open thinking, understanding and discussion. It raises both physical and social issues surrounding the urban environment. It can encourage the participation of citizen groups and lead the way to develop a community-oriented urban environment through inter-discourse agreement. The urban space of Cheonggye Stream has produced a wide range of urban discourse from 2003 to the present. Discourse regarding the Cheonggye Stream restoration project has been approached by fields including landscape architecture, ecology, urbanism, architecture, politics, and economics, among others. This discourse has reduced a variety of issues and ranges of debate. This study has classified these discussions into related fields and ideological attitudes, analysed their content, and interpreted their meaning. In order to examine the mutual relationships existing among these discourses by different ideological groups, an analytical framework was established byputting classified versions of discourses into a coordinate diagram. The overall topography showing the present status of Korea public awareness regarding the urban environment could therefore be determined. As a result, it was found that the disciplines of landscape architecture took a middle ground between groups with practical and radical ideologies regarding the Cheonggye Stream project and was a mediator for both poles to find a point of contact. However, participatory discourse requires the disciplines of landscape architecture to participate more actively in the discourses on urban environment and take a more active stand corresponding to the zeitgeist and people's sense of public justice.
This study is on a recombination method for the construction of spatial information products which demands are unpredictably various. The present production method of digital maps is not flexible enough for their reusability because it is not object-oriented but top-down. Each spatial object needs to have particular attributes to be recombined. The demand changes the production method through the reclassification of data and changing the properties. In a user perspective, the bottom-up method can produce on-demand spatial information products including existing digital maps. The method is derived from case studies and theoretical reviews and compared with the existing production method. In the method spatial information products are reclassified by their geometry objects such as point, line, and polygon, with basic attributes, and other related domain attributes. The geometry objects and domain attributes are connected by adding new attributes for their later relationship and management, which make the recombination possible. To prove its usability of the method it is tested for current and future user demands including the national base map, thematic maps and the future spatial information products.
The plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) are specialized hybrid electric vehicles that have the potential to obtain enough energy for average daily commuting from batteries. The PHEV battery would be recharged from the power grid at home or at work and would thus allow for a reduction in the overall fuel consumption. This paper proposes an integrated power electronics interface for PHEVs, which consists of a novel Eight-Switch Inverter (ESI) and an interleaved DC/DC converter, in order to reduce the cost, the mass and the size of the power electronics unit (PEU) with high performance at any operating mode. In the proposed configuration, a novel Eight-Switch Inverter (ESI) is able to function as a bidirectional single-phase AC/DC battery charger/ vehicle to grid (V2G) and to transfer electrical energy between the DC-link (connected to the battery) and the electric traction system as DC/AC inverter. In addition, a bidirectional-interleaved DC/DC converter with dual-loop controller is proposed for interfacing the ESI to a low-voltage battery pack in order to minimize the ripple of the battery current and to improve the efficiency of the DC system with lower inductor size. To validate the performance of the proposed configuration, the indirect field-oriented control (IFOC) based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) is proposed to optimize the efficiency of the AC drive system in PHEVs. The maximum efficiency of the motor is obtained by the evaluation of optimal rotor flux at any operating point, where the PSO is applied to evaluate the optimal flux. Moreover, an improved AC/DC controller based Proportional-Resonant Control (PRC) is proposed in order to reduce the THD of the input current in charger/V2G modes. The proposed configuration is analyzed and its performance is validated using simulated results obtained in MATLAB/ SIMULINK. Furthermore, it is experimentally validated with results obtained from the prototypes that have been developed and built in the laboratory based on TMS320F2808 DSP.
This paper presents industry feedback and a case of improvement trial on enabling reuse driven software development which is one of several activities to improve software quality and productivity in a company which develops software that are embedded into consumer electronic products. Several case studies will be introduced that are related to software reuse strategies and practices to show how to establish environment for reuse basis in a company, how to apply it to development team and project and how to improve that through trials and errors. To enable reuse-oriented software development in a huge company, integrated and focused approach is needed among technical, management and environmental point of view. We tried to solve that problem in technical field with reuse method, in management filed with reuse metric and in environment field with reuse repository. The characteristics of our software development environment could be summarized as below. The first, embedded software which would not independent to hardware devices and the second, it is very huge company which develops extremely various products by many different organization with different domain characteristics and the third, development lead time is extremely short and many variation models are stems from basic models. We expect that our study would give contribution to industry struggling to solve similar problem for presenting our experience and could be a reference model for enabling software reuse in a real world practically.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of average unit learning on the knowledge of the representative value of 5th grade elementary school students. In the information-oriented society, the ability to organize and summarize the data has become an essential resource. In the process of correctly analyzing statistical data and making reasonable decisions, the summary of the data plays an important role, and it is necessary to learn the concept of representative values in order to describe the center of the data in a series of numbers. For research, an informal knowledge type possessed by a fifth grade elementary school student with respect to a representative value before learning an average unit is examined and compared with the representative value after learning the average unit. A suggestion point for representative value guidance in school mathematics is provided while examining the change in knowledge with respect to the representative value. Seeing the informal types of elementary school students' representative values will help them learn how to formalize the concept of representative values in middle and high schools. It will give suggestions about the concept of representative values and the method of instruction that should be dealt with in elementary schools. The informal knowledge about the representative value can help with formal representative value that will be learned later. Therefore, This study's discussions on statistical learning of elementary school students are expected to present meaningful implications for statistical education.
The purpose of the present study is to explore the process of teacher change as elementary school teachers participated in a community focused on improving mathematics teaching. To do so, a professional community lot improving instructional practice consisted of a group of voluntary elementary school teachers. The professional community provides participating teachers with great opportunities to share their understanding of practical knowledge related to mathematics teaching and learning and change mathematical beliefs as well as to learn pedagogical content knowledge. This study approached to teacher professionality in terms of mathematical beliefs and teaching practice. The change of teaching practice was measured coherently both with a questionnaire and with a mathematics teaching standard developed for this study. The findings of this study point out that techers' beliefs about how students learn mathematics have chantged. This study also indicated that after participating in the professional community focused on improving mathematics teaching, teachers' mathematical teaching is changed toward the more students' oriented way. Especially, it is observed that the meaningful change in participating teachers' teaching practice took place with respect to the role of teachers, students' interaction, mathematical tasks, and problem solving. Finally, this study implies that teachers can have an opportunity to change their beliefs and deepen their professionality about elementary mathematics teaching and learning through participating in the community of practice, through which participating teachers can share their practical knowledge and their understandings about teaching and learning of elementary mathematics.
