Customer Load Pattern Analysis using Clustering Techniques (클러스터링 기법을 이용한 수용가별 전력 데이터 패턴 분석)

  • Understanding load patterns and customer classification is a basic step in analyzing the behavior of electricity consumers. To achieve that, there have been many researches about clustering customers' daily load data. Nowadays, the deployment of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and big-data technologies make it easier to study customers' load data. In this paper, we study load clustering from the view point of yearly and daily load pattern. We compare four clustering methods; K-means clustering, hierarchical clustering (average & Ward's method) and DBSCAN (Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise). We also discuss the relationship between clustering results and Korean Standard Industrial Classification that is one of possible labels for customers' load data. We find that hierarchical clustering with Ward's method is suitable for clustering load data and KSIC can be well characterized by daily load pattern, but not quite well by yearly load pattern.

Control-to-output Transfer Function of the Open-loop Step-up Converter in CCM Operation

  • Based on the average method and the geometrical technique to calculate the average value, the average model of the open-loop step-up converter in CCM operation is established. The DC equilibrium point and corresponding small signal model is derived. The control-to-output transfer function is presented and analyzed. The theoretical analysis and PSIM simulations shows that the control-to-output transfer function includes not only the DC input voltage and the DC duty cycle, but also the two inductors, the two energy-transferring capacitors, the switching frequency and the load. Finally, the hardware circuit is designed, and the circuit experimental results are given to confirm the effectiveness of theoretical derivations and analysis.

Speed Control of Induction Motor Systems by Design Method of Digital Servo System (디지탈 서보계 설계법에 의한 유도 전동기 시스템의 속도 제어)

  • The paper presents a digital speed control approach of induction motor systems by using a digital servo control method and a well-known second order differential equation as model. The basic concept of using the modeling equation stated in the above is induced from the control theory stand point such that we can describe usually the motor system connected by inverter, generator and load etc, just as a mechanical system to be controlled. The concept does not demand us the complicated vector-based modeling equation adopted in the traditional methods for the speed control of induction motor. Futhermore, the proposed speed control system can be treated as a single input and single output system. The effectiveness of the servo control system obtained by the above-mentioned design concept is illustrated by the experimental results in the presence of both step reference changes and load variations. It is observed from the experimental results that the steady state-error of the experimental set up becomes zero after some regulation time and the induction motor system is robust in spite of reference signal changes and load variations.

  • The paper presents a digital speed control approach of induction motor systems by using a digital redesign method and adopting a well known 2nd order model as the system model equation. The basic concept using the modeling equation is induced from the control theory stand point such that we can describe usually the motor system connected by inverter, generator and load etc. just as a mechanical system to be controlled.   • This paper presents the analysis technique and procedure of main engine components-cylinder block, cylinder liners, gasket and cylinder head-using the finite element method, which aims to assess mainly the potential of lower oil consumption in a view point of engine design and to decide subsequently the accuracy of engine design which was done. The F.E. model of an engine section consisting of one whole cylinder and two adjacent half cylinders is used, whereby the crankcase is cut off at the block bottom deck. By means of a 3-dimensional F.E. model-including cylinder block, liners, gasket, cylinder head, bolts and valve seat rings as separate parts a linear analysis of deformations and stresses was performed for three different loading conditions;assembly, thermal and gas loads. For the analysis of thermal boundary conditions also the temperature field had to be evaluated in a subsequent step.

Dynamic Buckling Characteristics of 3-Free-Nodes Spatial Truss Model Under the Step Load (스텝 하중을 받는 3-자유절점 공간 트러스 모델의 동적 좌굴 특성)

  • In this paper, the dynamic snapping of the 3-free-nodes spatial truss model was studied. A governing equation was derived considering geometric nonlinearity, and a model with various conditions was analyzed using the fourth order Runge-Kutta method. The dynamic buckling phenomenon was observed in consideration of sensitive changes to the force mode and the initial condition. In addition, the critical load level was analyzed. According to the results of the study, the level of critical buckling load elevated when the shape parameter was high. Parallelly, the same result was caused by the damping term. The sensitive asymmetrical changes showed complex orbits in the phase space, and the critical load level was also becoming lowly. In addition, as the value of damping constant was high, the level of critical load also increases. In particular, the larger the damping constant, the faster it converges to the equilibrium point, and the occurrence of snapping was suppressed.

Experiment for Reduction Effectiveness of Pollutants with the Improvement of Infiltration Ability in Vegetation Filter Strip (식생여과대내 침투능력 향상에 따른 오염물질 저감효과에 대한 실험)

  • Soil layer in vegetation filter strip is one of the very important factor for reduction of non-point pollutants by physical, chemical and biological reactions of it through infiltration process. This study was carried out to prepare more effective vegetation filter strip through modification of soil layer for river water quality improvement. Therefore, the main aims of this study are to compare and evaluate normal (straighten type) and modified (step type) vegetation filter strip, which make artificially change the soil layer to improve infiltration ability, through bench scale experiments. In the results of this study, vegetation filter strip of step type is much more highly reduction effectiveness of pollutants in surface flow compared with normal vegetation filter strip. In case of below effluent, however, it appeared that the vegetation filter strip modified soil layer showed lower reduction effectiveness of pollutants than the general vegetation filter strip. This result was judged because effluent through the vegetation filter strip of step type passed bigger size of aggregate or sand than the vegetation filter strip of straighten type. If we compare it as a definition of pollutant load to estimate total amount of reduced pollutants by vegetation filter strip, reduced pollutants load by step type showed higher than those by straighten type because below effluent amount relied on total effluent amount was higher at step type (4%) than at straighten type (2%). In conclusion, the vegetation filter strip of step type to improve infiltration effect is much more reduction effectiveness of pollutants than vegetation filter strip of straighten type.

  • Information processing in variable and noisy environments is usually accomplished by means of adaptive filters. Among various adaptive algorithms, Least Mean Square (LMS) has become the most popular for its robustness, good tracking capabilities and simplicity, both in terms of computational load and easiness of implementation. In practical application of the LMS algorithm, the most important key parameter is the Step Size. As is well known, if the Step Size is large, the convergence rate of the algorithm will be rapid, but the steady state mean square error (MSE) will increase. On the other hand, if the Step Size is small, the steady state MSE will be small, but the convergence rate will be slow. Many researches have been proposed to alleviate this drawback by using a variable Step Size. In this paper, a new variable Step Size LMS(VSSLMS) called Categorized VSSLMS (CVSSLMS) is proposed. CVSSLMS updates the Step Size by categorizing the current status of the gradient, hence significantly improves the convergence rate. The performance of the proposed algorithm was verified from the view point of convergence rate, Excessive Mean Square Error(EMSE), and complexity through experiments.

  • The purpose of slate estimation in power system is to estimate the best-fit Slate variables from the measurements contaminated by various kind of noise. But because the majority of state estimation modules in EMS lack the convergence characteristics, sometimes the desirable outputs can't be obtained. So, in this paper, the new algorithm using the load now output as initial values in the state estimation calculation is proposed to guarantee the convergence. And if the load now outputs were used as the initial values in the calculation, the change in each step would be small compared to the original method using the flat start point. And the Inverse Lemma is used in the algorithm to calculate the new stale in each iteration step for reducing the calculation time. The proposed algorithm was tested on the IEEE 14, 30, 118 bus systems. Eventually, we were able to verity that the differences between the results obtained by the original method and proposed method were relatively small, and the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm increased when applied to the bigger systems.

  • In the paper architecture of load flow under graphic interface we mentioned that the define of graphic interface and the way of system modeling. In the view point of engineering, domain define is the step of process which is seek out the general solution. This is a base of program's structure. When making a relationship inner component, relevance and restriction are affected by data type and etc. In this process logical data is realized as a symbol. And system configuration decide that main function and extension by the analysis user's demand and requirements. Specially engineering analysis software has accuracy also through the numerical method. To represent this wee need more powerful graphical component. This helps user's accessibility. We can combine 10, numerical library and graphical component as a system element by domain definition. In this paper we will materialize as a step of implementation and decide a direction of programming. In conclusion we will see the analysis software's necessary function to make a better.
