The solar cells should be operated at the maximum power point because its output characteristics are greatly fluctuated on the variation of insolation, temperature and load. Photovoltaic system needs an inverter which can interface the dc output power of solar cell with the residential ac load. The inverter has to supply a sinusoidal current and voltage to the load and the utility line with a high power factor. This paper proposes an utility interactive photovoltaic system designed with a step-up chopper and a PWM voltage source inverter. The step-up chopper operates in continuous mode by adjusting the duty ratio so that the photovoltaic system tracks the maximum power points of solar cell without any influence on the variation of insolation and temperature. The voltage source inverter operates in a manner that its output voltage is in phase with the utility voltage. The inverter supplies an ac power with high factor and low level of harmonics to the load and the utility power system.
Gallium nitride (GaN) power switching devices are promising candidates for high switching frequency and high efficiency power conversion due to their fast switching, low on-state resistance, and high-temperature operation capability. In order to facilitate the use of these new devices better, it is required to investigate the device characteristics and performance in detail preferably by comparing with various conventional silicon (Si) devices. This paper presents a comprehensive study of GaN high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) based non-isolated point-of-load (POL) synchronous buck converter operating at 2.7 MHz with a high step-down ratio (24 V to 3.3 V). The characteristics and performance of GaN HEMT and three different Si devices are analytically investigated and the optimal operating point for GaN HEMT is discussed. Zero-voltage switching (ZVS) is implemented to minimize switching loss in high switching frequency operation. The prototype circuit and experimental data support the validity of analytical and simulation results.
An accurate digital distance relaying algorithm which is immune to the combined reactance effect of the fault resistance and the load current is proposed. The algorithm can estimate adaptively the impedance to a fault point independent of the fault resistance. To compensate the apparent impedance, this algorithm uses iteratively the angle of an impedance deviation vector improved step by step. The impedance correction algorithm for ground faults uses a current distribution factor to compensate mutual coupling effect.
The purpose of this study is to develop a grid based model for calculating the critical nonpoint source (NPS) pollution load (BOD, TN, TP) in Nak-dong area in South Korea. In the last two decades, NPS pollution has become a topic for research that resulted in the development of numerous modeling techniques. Watershed researchers need to be able to emphasis on the characterization of water quality, including NPS pollution loads estimates. Geographic Information System (GIS) has been designed for the assessment of NPS pollution in a watershed. It uses different data such as DEM, precipitation, stream network, discharge, and land use data sets and utilizes a grid representation of a watershed for the approximation of average annual pollution loads and concentrations. The difficulty in traditional NPS modeling is the problem of identifying sources and quantifying the loads. This research is intended to investigate the correlation of NPS pollution concentrations with land uses in a watershed by calculating Expected Mean Concentrations (EMC). This work was accomplished using a grid based modelling technique that encompasses three stages. The first step includes estimating runoff grid by means of the precipitation grid and runoff coefficient. The second step is deriving the gird based model for calculating NPS pollution loads. The last step is validating the gird based model with traditional pollution loads calculation by applying statistical t-test method. The results on real data, illustrate the merits of the grid based modelling approach. Therefore, this model investigates a method of estimating and simulating point loads along with the spatially distributed NPS pollution loads. The pollutant concentration from local runoff is supposed to be directly related to land use in the region and is not considered to vary from event to event or within areas of similar land uses. By consideration of this point, it is anticipated that a single mean estimated pollutant concentration is assigned to all land uses rather than taking into account unique concentrations for different soil types, crops, and so on.

This study proposed a simplified finite element analysis procedure for designing the nonstructural masonry wall in the out-of-plane direction. The proposed method is a two-step elastic analysis procedure by bilinearizing the behavior of the masonry wall. The first step analysis was conducted with initial stiffness representing the behavior up to the effective-yield point, and the second step analysis was conducted with post-yield stiffness. In addition, the orthotropic material property of the masonry was considered in the FE analysis. The maximum load was estimated as the sum of the maximum loads in the first and second step analyses. The maximum load was converted into the moment coefficients and compared with those from the yield line method applied in Eurocode 6. The moment coefficients calculated through the proposed procedure showed a good match with those from the yield line method with less than 6% differences.
This paper is the first step fur thermo-mechanical stress analyses of part with coated layer under contact load. A lot of coated material is applied in many structures to endure severe situation, like thermal stresses, high temperature gradients, irradiation, impacts by microscopic meteorites, and so on. In this part we are going to apply the FEM to analyze space parts with a coated layer subjected to a contact load thermo-mechanically. Coating layer is very thin in comparision with the structure, therefore it should take more times and behaviors to analyze whole model. In these reason we develop the FEM method of analyzing part with coated layer under contact load using partial model. Steady state temperature distribution of the part is obtained first, and then we apply quasi-static external load on the part. To obtain the final stage of solution, we compute the total solution, and by subtracting the thermal strain from the total ones we get the mechanical strains to compute stresses of the parts. In using the FEM, one has to discretize the model into many sub-domain, finite elements. The method is consisited of two steps. First step is to analyze the whole model with rather coarse meshes. Second step we cut a small region near the loading point, and analyze with very fine meshes. This method is allowable by the Saint-Venant's principle. And then, we finally shall check the therma1 load on the stresses of the space part with coating layer with or without substrate cracks. Then, we predict the actual behaviors of the part used in space.

In this paper, an inverted-pendulum model consisting of a point supported by spring limbs with roller feet is adopted to simulate human walking load. To establish the kinematic motion of first and second single and double support phases, the Lagrangian variation method was used. Given a set of model parameters, desired walking speed and initial states, the Newmark-${\beta}$ method was used to solve the above kinematic motion for studying the effects of roller radius, stiffness, impact angle, walking speed, and step length on the ground reaction force, energy transfer, and height of center of mass transfer. The numerical simulation results show that the inverted-pendulum model for walking is conservative as there is no change in total energy and the duration time of double support phase is 50-70% of total time. Based on the numerical analysis, a dynamic load factor ${\alpha}_{wi}$ is proposed for the traditional walking load model.

This study proposes a finite-state model predictive controller to regulate the load current and balance the DC-link capacitor voltages of a four-leg neutral-point-clamped converter. The discrete-time model of the converter, DC-link, inductive filter, and load is used to predict the future behavior of the load currents and the DC-link capacitor voltages for all possible switching states. The switching state that minimizes the cost function is selected and directly applied to the converter. The cost function is defined to minimize the error between the predicted load currents and their references, as well as to balance the DC-link capacitor voltages. Moreover, the current regulation performance is improved by using a two-step prediction horizon. The feasibility of the proposed predictive control scheme for different references and loads is verified through real-time implementation on the basis of dSPACEDS1103.

In this paper, The author present a load current feed-forward compensator by method that improve voltage controller of Step-down Chopper to get stable output voltage to sudden change of load current. To confirm the characteristics of a presented load current feed-forward compensator compared each transfer function of whole system that load current feed-forward compensator is added with transfer function of whole system that existent voltage controller is included using Mason gains formula in Root locus and Bode diagram. As a result the pole of system is improved, extreme point of the wave and system improves, and size of peak value and phase margin of break frequency in resonance frequency confirmed that is good. Therefore, presented control technique could confirm that reduce influence by perturbation and improves stationary state and dynamic characteristics in output of Step-down Chopper.
The air flow supplied to a fuel cell system is one of the most significant factors in determining fuel efficiency. The conventional method of controlling the air flow is to fix the oxygen supply at an estimated constant rate for optimal efficiency. However, the actual optimal point can deviated from the pre-set value due to temperature, load conditions and so on. In this paper, the maximum efficiency point tracking (MEPT) algorithm is proposed for finding the optimal air supply rate in real time to maximize the net-power generation of fuel cell systems. The fixed step MEPT algorithm has slow dynamics, thus it affects the overall efficiency. As a result, the variable step MEPT algorithm is proposed to compensate for this problem instead of a fixed one. The complete small signal model of a PEM Fuel cell system is developed to perform a stability analysis and to present a design guideline. For a design example, a 1kW PEM fuel cell system with a DSP 56F807 (Motorola Inc) was built and tested using the proposed MEPT algorithm. This control algorithm is very effective for a soft current change load like a grid connected system or a hybrid electric vehicle system with a secondary energy source.
