Design of the dual-buoy wave energy converter based on actual wave data of East Sea

  • A new conceptual dual-buoy Wave Energy Converter (WEC) for the enhancement of energy extraction efficiency is suggested. Based on actual wave data, the design process for the suggested WEC is conducted in such a way as to ensure that it is suitable in real sea. Actual wave data measured in Korea's East Sea (position: $36.404N^{\circ}$ and $129.274E^{\circ}$) from May 1, 2002 to March 29, 2005 were used as the input wave spectrum for the performance estimation of the dual-buoy WEC. The suggested WEC, a point absorber type, consists of two concentric floating circular cylinders (an inner and a hollow outer buoy). Multiple resonant frequencies in proposed WEC affect the Power Ttake-off (PTO) performance of the WEC. Based on the numerical results, several design strategies are proposed to further enhance the extraction efficiency, including intentional mismatching among the heave natural frequencies of dual buoys, the natural frequency of the internal fluid, and the peak frequency of the input wave spectrum.

실험실 실험을 통한 벽체 차음성능 측정의 신뢰성 향상을 위한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study to Improve Measurement Reliability for the Airborne Sound Insulation Performance by Laboratory Test)

  • Sound pressure levels in the receiving room while testing airborne sound insulation performance are varied by the measuring points. This may increase the measurement error, then decrease the measurement reliability. With this reason the research has carried out on the method to reduce deviations of sound pressure level in the ISO type rectangular laboratory focusing on the measurement of airborne sound insulation performance. Tests were made to see the effect of sound absorption in the receiving room, loudspeaker locations, microphones locations and flanking transmission path. Consequently, it was resulted that sound absorption in the receiving room and the loudspeaker location have influence on the sound level deviations especially in the low frequency. The microphone location was very important to get measurement reliability. The effective measuring point, which the sound level difference with average sound pressure level is within 2 dB, could yield most reliable average sound pressure level. Therefore it is necessary to find the effective measuring points in the receiving room. Flanking transmission path should be sealed using sound absorber or magnet etc. to prevent from lowering the sound insulation performance.

  • 1-propanol과 bromochloromethane 혼합물은 공비점의 형성이나 큰 휘발성 차이 때문에 실제 증류탑이나 흡수탑 등의 단위 공정에서 효율적이고 경제적인 운전이 쉽지 않다. 이처럼 비이상성이 큰 혼합물을 효과적으로 다루기 위해서는 혼합물에 대한 기-액 평형 등의 열역학적인 정보가 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 재순환 기-액 평형장치를 이용하여 일정 압력 하에서 30 kPa에서 70 kPa까지 1-propanol과 bromochloromethane 혼합물의 기-액 평형을 측정하였으며 얻어진 실험 데이터를 UNIQUAC과 NRTL 모델식을 이용하여 상관하였고 과잉 Gibbs 에너지와 활동도 계수를 추산하였다. 또한 Gibbs/Duhem식에 근거한 열역학적 건전성 테스트를 수행하였고 진동 밀도계를 사용하여 이성분계의 과잉 몰부피를 측정하였으며 그 결과를 Redlich-Kister다항식으로 상관하였다.

태양전지 모듈의 효율개선을 위한 지열교환 장치 개발 (Development of geothermal exchanger for efficiency improvement of solar cell module)

  • 최근 태양광발전은 정부의 재생에너지 지원책에 의해 널리 보급되고 있다. 하지만 발전효율은 태양전지 모듈이 일정온도보다 높게 유지될 때 떨어진다. 따라서 일정온도 이하로 유지하는 것이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 태양전지 모듈의 효율을 개선하기 위해서 지열교환장치를 개발하였다. 지열교환장치는 태양전지의 열 흡수판과 열전도판 그리고 방열기로 구성된다. 태양전지 모듈의 열은 지열교환 장치에 의해 땅속으로 방열한다. 결과적으로, 지열교환장치는 태양전지모듈의 발전량을 증가시키며, 실험결과는 발생전력이 약 36% 증가함을 보여 주고 있다.

관절형 4족 보행로봇용 발의 설계 및 성능시험 (Design and performance test of a foot for a jointed leg type quadrupedal walking robot)

  • This paper reports on the development of a new foot for a quadrupedal jointed-leg type walking robot. The foot has 2 toes, one at the front and the other at the rear side, for stable landing on uneven ground by point contact. The toes can move up and down independantly, guided by double-wishbone shaped parallel links which enable the lower leg to rotate with respect to a remote center on the ground surface. The motion of each toe is damped by a hydropneumatic shock absorber integrated in the foot in order to absorb the dynamic landing shock. Furthermore, the new foot can reduce the maximum hip joint drive torque by shortening the moment arm length between the hip joint and the landing force vector on the ground. Intensive experiments were carried out in this study by using a one-leg walking model to investigate the soft landing performance of the foot which could be hardly offered by conventional robot feet such as a flat plate with a gimbal type ankle joint. And it was confirmed that the hip joint torque of the leg walking on the flat surface could be reduced remarkably by using the new foot.

Effect of Low Salt Concentrations on Microbial Changes During Kimchi Fermentation Monitored by PCR-DGGE and Their Sensory Acceptance

  • Various salt concentrations (1.0%, 1.3%, 1.6%, 1.9%, and 2.1% labeled as sample A, B, C, D, and E, respectively) were investigated for microbial diversity, identification of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) in salted kimchi cabbage, prepared under laboratory conditions. These samples were stored at 4°C for 5 weeks in proper aluminum-metalized pouch packaging with calcium hydroxide gas absorber. A culture-independent method known as polymerase chain reaction - denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis was carried out to identify LAB distributions among various salt concentration samples that had identified 2 Weissella (W. confusa and W. soli), 1 Lactobacillus (Lb. sakei), and 3 Leuconostoc (Lc. mesenteroides, Lc. lactis, and Lc. gelidum) in the overall kimchi samples. The pH, titratable acidity, viable cell counts, and coliform counts were not affected by salt variations. In order to assess sensory acceptance, the conducted sensory evaluation using a 9-point hedonic scale had revealed that samples with 1.3% salt concentration (lower than the manufacturer's regular salt concentration) was more preferred, indicating that the use of 1.3% salt concentration was acceptable in normal kimchi fermentation for its quality and safety. Despite similarities in pH, titratable acidity, viable cell counts, coliform counts, and LAB distributions among the various salt concentrations of kimchi samples, the sample with 1.3% salt concentration was shown to be the most preferred, indicating that this salt concentration was suitable in kimchi production in order to reduce salt intake through kimchi consumptions.

  • 선형발전기가 연결된 부이의 수직운동에 대한 시간영역 해석을 수행하여 얻은 시계열 자료를 가지고 선형발전기를 설계하고 전기에너지 출력특성 및 효율에 대해 살펴보았다. 1차 변환장치로 원통형 부이를 선택하였고, 2차 변환장치로 양측식 할박(Halbach) 배열 영구자석 가동자와 철심형 슬롯리스(Slotless) 고정자로 구성된 선형발전기를 사용하였다. 시간영역에서 부이의 수직운동 속도와 파랑하중을 입력자료로 직선형 영구자석 발전기가 설계되었고, 설계된 발전기는 규칙파 조건에서 유한요소 해석법을 적용하여 발전특성해석을 수행함으로써, 그 타당성이 입증되었다. 또한 불규칙파 조건에서 합리적이고 빠른 해석을 위해, 등가회로법을 적용하여 발전특성 해석을 수행하였는데, 그 결과 역시 매우 타당함을 확인하였다.

Mo 유연기판을 이용한 Cu2SnS3 박막 태양전지의 셀레늄 도핑 효과 (Effect of Selenium Doping on the Performance of Flexible Cu2SnS3(CTS) Thin Film Solar Cells)

  • Due to its favorable optical properties, Cu2SnS3 (CTS) is a promising material for thin film solar cells. Doping, which modifies the absorber properties, is one way to improve the conversion efficiency of CTS solar cells. In this work, CTS solar cells with selenium doping were fabricated on a flexible substrate using sputtering method and the effect of doping on the properties of CTS solar cells was investigated. In XRD analysis, a shift in the CTS peaks can be observed due to the doped selenium. XRF analysis confirmed the different ratios of Cu/Sn and (S+Se)/(Cu+Sn) depending on the amount of selenium doping. Selenium doping can help to lower the chemical potential of sulfur. This effectively reduces the point defects of CTS thin films. Overall improved electrical properties were observed in the CTS solar cell with a small amount of selenium doping, and a notable conversion efficiency of 1.02 % was achieved in the CTS solar cell doped with 1 at% of selenium.

  • $Cu(In_{1-x},Ga_x)Se_2$ thin films have been considered as an effective absorber material for high efficient solar cells. In this paper, the CIGS thin films with varied Ga content were prepared using a co-evaporation process of three stage. We carry out structure and electrical optical property on the thin film in varied Ga content. CIGS thin films have been characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy(EDS), four-point probe measurement, and the Hall measurement. To optimize Ga contents, Ga/(In+Ga) ratio were changed from 0.13 to 0.72. At this time the carrier concentrations were varied from $1.22{\times}10^{11}\;cm^{-3}$ to $5.07{\times}10^{16}\;cm^{-3}$, and electrical resistivity were varied from $1.11{\times}10^0\;{\Omega}-cm$ to $1.08{\times}10^2\;{\Omega}-cm$. A strong <220/204> orientation and a lager grain size were obtained at a Ga/(In+Ga) of 0.3. We were able to achieve conversion efficiency as high as 15.95% with a Ga/(In+Ga) of 0.3.

태양열(太陽熱) 집열기개발(集熱器開發)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) - 포물반사곡면(抛物反射曲面)으로된 2차원(二次元) 집광식(集光式) 태양열(太陽熱) 집열기(集熱器)의 성능분석(性能分析) - (Development of a Solar Collector Performance of Cylindrical Parabolic Concentrating Solar Collector)

  • It is desirable to collect the solar thermal energy at relatively high temperature in order to minimize the size of thermal storage system and to enlarge the scope of solar thermal energy utilization. So far the concentrating solar collector has been developed to collect solar thermal energy at relatively high temperature, but it has some difficulties in maintaining the volumetric body of solar collector for long term utilization. On the other hand, the flat-plate solar collector has been developed to collect the solar thermal energy at low temperature, and it has advantages in maintaining the system for long term utilization, since it's thickness is thin and not volumetric. In this study, to develop a solar collector that has both advantages of collecting solar thermal energy at high temperature and fixing conveniently the collector system for long term period, a cylindrical parabolic concentrating solar collector was designed, which has two rows of parabolic reflectors and thin thickness such as the flat-plate solar collector, maintaining the optical form of concentrating solar collector. The characteristics of the concentrating parabolic solar collector newly designed was analysed and the results are summarized as follows; 1. The temperature of the air enclosed in solar collector was all the same as $50^{\circ}C$ in both cases of the open and closed loop, and when the heat transfer fluid was not circulated in tubular absorber, the maximum surface temperature of the absorber was $118-120^{\circ}C$, this results suggested that the heat transfer fluid could be heated up to $118^{\circ}C$. 2. In case of longitudinal installation of the solar collector, the temperature difference of heat transfer fluid between inlet and outlet was $4^{\circ}-6^{\circ}C$ at the flow rate of $110-130{\ell}/hr$, and the collected solar energy per unit area of collector was $300-465W/m^2$. 3. The collected solar energy per unit area for 7 hours was 1960 Kcal/$m^2$ for the open loop and 220 Kcal/$m^2$ for the closed loop. Therefore it is necessary to combine the open and closed loop of solar collectors to improve the thermal efficiency of solar collector. 4. The thermal efficiency of the solar collector (C.P.C.S.C.) was proportional to the density of solar radiation, indicating the maximum thermal efficiency ${\eta}_{max}=58%$ with longitudinal installation and ${\eta}_{max}=45%$ with lateral installation. 5. The thermal efficiency of the solar collector (C.P.C.S.C.) was increased in accordance with the increase of flow rate of heat transfer fluid, presenting the flow rate of $110{\ell}/hr$ was the value of turning point of the increasing rate of the collector efficiency, therefore the flow rate of $110{\ell}/hr$ was considered as optimum value for the test of the solar collector (C.P.C.S.C.) performance when the heat transfer fluid is a liquid. 6. In both cases of longitudinal and lateral installation of the solar collector (C.P.C.S.C.), the thermal efficiency was decreased linearly with an increase in the value of the term ($T_m-T_a$)/Ic and the increasing rate of the thermal efficiency was not effected by the installation method of solar collector.
