A Strategy for Production of Digital Elevation Models in Korea

  • The National Geographic Information Institute (NGII) in korea, through the National Geographic Information System (NGIS) Program, has prepared to generate and disseminate digital elevation data for Korea. This is a pilot research to propose a policy for production, maintenance, and supply of Korea Digital Elevation Data(KDED). Customer demands for accuracy and resolution of DEM was surveyed through a questionnaire. In order to investigate the quality, the technical efficiency and the production cost, a tentative DEM in a small test site was generated based on digital topographic maps (original paper map scale 1:5,000), analytical plotter, and LIDAR. The Accuracy standard for KDED was derived based on source data generation methods. As a result of this research, a uniformly spaced grid model was recommended for KDED. Its preferable grid space is 5m in urban areas and its vicinity, and 10m in field and mountainous area. LIDAR has been valuated as a proper KDED generation method fulfilling customers' demands for the accuracy.

  • There is a definite requirement to continuously monitor the operating characteristics of radiation therapy machines. It is advisable to monitor the symmetry, flatness, and energy stability of x-ray beams. The semiconductor system was developed using commercially available rectifier diode for th assessment of quality assurance In radiation therapy, which is capable of the above measurements. The beam characteristics of 6MV, 10MV and 21MV photon of Microtron electron accelerator were measured using seven-diodes as detectors and the results were compared with that of using a film results dosimetry with a X-Y plotter. The seven-diode detetor is versatile enough to be used for checking beam profile, flatness, symmetry and energy.

  • This paper proposes a new set of topological features (primitives) for use with a syntactic recognizer for high-accuracy recognition of printed alphanumeric characters. The recognition is accomplished on nine character groups, where each group has different combinations of four feature points. A skeleton enhancement eliminating isolated points and smoothing irregular points is developed. The tree automata processed in parallel enables the realization of high-recognition speeds and font-type independent recognition. The proposed character recognition system is tested for alphanumeric character fonts of dot matrix printer and plotter using IBM-PC/XT.

  • In this thesis, a three degrees of freedom robot, which is able to provide sufficient precision for various robot researches, has been developed. The cable mechanism is used as a basic transmission of robot joints. Based on an optimal design strategy, link and joint parameters are determined and then overall geometry of the robot is designed. As an architecture of robot control, real time control system using real time linux and RtiC-Lab(Real Time Controls Laboratory) is developed. This system, written in C and based on Linux O/S, includes text editor, compiler, downloader, and real time plotter running in host computer for developing control purpose. Using these hardware and software, simple PD position control is implemented, the results shows the effectiveness of the system.

  • 최근 우리나라는 선박 종류별 해양사고 발생률 중 100톤 미만의 어선 및 소형선박이 차지하는 비중이 72%에 달하고 있다. 그 원인을 살펴보면, 경계, 침로선정, 선위확인등 항해일반원칙의 미준수가 상당부분 차지하고 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 비교적 고령화되고 운항지식이 충분하지 못한 소형선박의 항해사에게 안전한 최적항로를 안내해주는 지능형 항해지원시스템을 개발하였다. 본 시스템은 항로계획 프로그램과 항로전송부, GPS Plotter로 구성되어있다. 지능형 항해지원시간템을 통해 임의의 위치에서 목표지점까지 최적항로를 퍼지 언어표현으로 안내해주는 시스템을 개발하여 그 유효성을 확인하였다.

  • Since the linear step motor(LSM) has the merits which can be controlled the position and velocity by using the micro-computer and has no mechanical transducer such as belt and gear, it's usefullness has been fitted for the printer, x-y plotter, OA machinery and so on. In designing the LSM, we are faced up to the calculation of forces. in this paper, the permeance modeling method suited for the design of transverse flux type linear step motor(TFM) is presented and simulated.

  • A Internet-based dynamic simulation system, called P-DYN, for multibody dynamic systems is developed. All the interfaces of the system are accessible via Web browsers, such as Netscape or Explorer. The system uses a template type P-DYN/Modeler as a preprocessor. The P-DYN postprocessor composed of P-DYN/Plotter and P-DYN/Animator is developed in JAVA. The P-DYN/Solver for predicting the dynamic behavior is run on the server. Anyone who wants to simulate the dynamics of multibody systems or share results data can access the analysis system over the Internet regardless of their OS, platform, or location.

  • The purpose of the study is to develop a computer program for making patterns for women's traditional Korean stockings, Beoson, Thus, the IBM 386 DX computer, the HP DROFT Pro Plotter, and Auto LISP language are used in this study. The procedures for the automated drafting can be summarized as follows : 1. A Beoson pattern was selected. 2. 39 co-ordinate points necessary for designing patterns of Beoson were established. 3. A program for drafting the pattern was developed ; refer to Table 1. 4. The Program was designed by inputting individual body measurements (foot length, foot circumferenceI, and foot circumfer-enceII) and angle(30 degrees). 5. Beoson patterns were made very correctly and quickly by using computers.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact behaviors of laminated composite plates subjected to the transverse low-velocity impact by the steel ball. A plate finite element model based on Whitney and Pagano's the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) in conjunction with experimental static contact laws is formulated and then compared with the results of the impact experiments. Because the input data and the output data printed at every integration time step are lots of amount, these are interactively poecessed by the developed pre-processor(PREPLOT) and postprecessor(POSTPLOT). All results from these procesors are automatically generated by CALCOMP plotter. Test materials are glass/expoxy composite materials. The specimens are composed of [$0^{\circ} /45^{\circ}/0^{\circ}/-45^{\circ}/0^{\circ}/]2s\ and \[90^{\circ}/45^{\circ}/90^{\circ}/-45^{\circ}/90^{\circ}/$]2s stacking sequences and have $4.5^t{\times}200^w{\times}200^l$(mm) and $4.5^t{\times}300^w{\times}300^l$(mm) dimensions.
