  • Currently, hardware companies such as Oculus, Samsung, and HTC are producing virtual reality devices, and game software development companies are developing or servicing VR games using these devices. Accordingly, the VR game market is expected to continue to grow in the future. However, in order for the VR game market to become active, various problems raised during game development and service must be resolved. This paper investigates solutions to problems raised during the development and service of VR games, such as cyber sickness, risk of injury due to environmental restrictions during play, and reconnection induction problems. Cybersickness can be alleviated by utilizing multiple GPUs for each display processing to achieve higher frame rates and optimizing play space design. Environmental constraints during play can be mitigated by optimizing space design, and the problem of inducing reconnection can be solved by continuously providing the motivation and purpose used in existing game methods. Through this, we were able to apply it to develop VR content that can be played continuously.

  • Play areas of childcare facility capable of stimulating the interests of children is extremely important. However, Childcare facility play areas in Korea are often placed in 'leftover' spaces due to institutional inadequacies. As a result, unlike the diverse play areas found in other countries, play areas in Korea have a standard appearance. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the specific causes of the physical differences in the childcare facility play areas of Korea and other countries. This study compared regulations, handbooks and guidelines and examined case studies of childcare facility play areas outside of Korea. Five institutional-level differences related to play areas between countries were identified as a result of this analysis. Suggestions for improvement at the institutional-level were proposed to each of the identified categories. This study focuses on the play areas of childcare facility and suggests directions for the improvement of play areas that are both institutionally and physically realistic.

  • Objective: The goal of this study is to develop an instrument for measuring the quality of teacher support for children's play (age 3-5) based on the Play Practice Resources for Teachers presented in the 2019 revised Nuri Curriculum. Methods: The subjects of this study were 333 early childhood educators. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, as well as correlation analysis were all performed to confirm construct validity and concurrent validity. The reliability of each factor was verified using Cronbach's alpha. Results: The Preschool Teacher Play Support Scale (PTPSS) was finalized with 25 items, which included the following four sub-factors: interaction, play materials, play space, and play safety. The concurrent validity was also confirmed through significant correlations between the existing measures such as the Teacher Self-Efficacy Scale, the Teaching Efficacy Scale for Play, and the Teacher-Toddler Interaction Scale. The reliability of each factor was also desirable. Conclusion/Implications: The PTPSS was verified as a sound measure quantifying the play support behavior of teachers who respect the autonomy and initiative of young children which is being pursued by the 2019 revised Nuri Curriculum.

  • In this paper, we studied the shimmy phenomena of an aircraft nose landing gear considering free-play. Shimmy is a self-excited vibration in lateral and torsional directions of a landing gear during either the take-off or landing. This phenomena is caused by a couple of conditions such as low torsional stiffness of the strut, friction and free-play in the gear, wheel imbalance, or worn parts, and it may make an aircraft unstable. Free-play non-linearity is linearized by the described function for a stability analysis in a frequency domain, and time marching is performed using the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. We performed the numerical simulation of the nose landing gear shimmy and investigated its linear and nonlinear characteristics. From the numerical results, we found limit-cycle-oscillations at the speed under linear shimmy speed for the case considering free-play and it can be concluded that the shimmy stability can be decreased by free-play.

  • This paper is to propose a design possibility that incorporates participatory process and also to emphasize the participatory process applied to the planning of outdoor playground space open to the neighboring community. Community design based on the participation method can be understood as an attitude about a force for change in the creation and management of environments for people who are the major users of them. Planning for outdoor space is an integral part of school education and a vital component of child development. For the design of outdoor space of Samyang Elementary School it first needs to examine the current and emerging needs of students, teachers and parents as community residents through the participatory design method. A series of workshops and interviews are taken to identify dreams and ideal spaces of each group. An assessment of existing school spaces and design possibility of reprogrammed outdoor spaces are proposed to match the major demands of participants. Selected outdoor places are chosen and designed to accommodate options for various play settings and to make the school pleasant places where members of the neighborhood can gather for relaxation in restful surroundings.

  • The aim of this study is to examine children's desires in a toy library and what they want to do there in order to reflect their opinions on constructing a toy library in a child care center. The study has been conducted by participatory observation on a 'toy library' project consisting of 20 five-year-olds attending B public child care center in Seoul. Observational notes were taken with voice and video recordings. The results of analysis on collected data are as follows. First, the children wanted to call the toy library a toy playground because a toy library is not for study but for play and they wanted space for rest and display with no surveillance camera. Second, they wanted to play freely without any interruption, even leaving things scattered and also wanted to play with parents and friends. Discussion followed in the view of children's right to play and to express their opinions.

  • This study is to provided a basic model to encourage environment and outdoor play programs. The study was based on the analyses of actual activities performed in two child care centers in Daejeon area and the way in which the programs for outdoor play were related to the environment of the centers. Data were collected through 'The Daily Report of the Outdoor Play Programs: Plan and Evaluation' paper conducted at each center performed from 2007 to 2009. Following Mockwha Choi et al., (2007), the play observed and described by teachers was analyzed to classify play areas and play activities within each area. The places, equipment and, playthings using in each play period were also examined as well as the limitation and inspiration caused by the environment. The results of the study are as follows: 1) Empty and unfilled space tended to generate more types of non-structural play and role-pretend play 2)Adventurous play was rarely observed. More thoughtfully designed physical environments need to be provided for children to experience challenge and adventure through physical activities 3) Outdoor play environment should be suitable for the overall developments of infants and toddlers depending on their activities. A child care specialist should support the design such environment 4) Naturally, the programs of outdoor play will not be identical for all child care centers. Rather, they should go along with the programmatic characters and environmental attributes of each center. Therefore the awareness of teachers and parents as to the importance of must realize of outdoor play should be further increased.

  • Currently open spaces of an apartment housing complex are considered in Korea as a negligible live Place that only contributes to enlarge its construction capacity of an apartment without taking its effects on the living quality into account. This trend reduces outdoor playing activities of the children who are the main users of open spaces and consequently has a negative influence on the child's growth. Therefore it is a imminent problem that we should provide open space utilizing plans on the basis of the study upon the types of the children's playing activities within the residential environment. The study purpose is finding about an outside activity of the child takes any influence according to an apartment disposition format.

  • As an important visual element, color in animated films can not only depicts the reality, but also conveys emotion and meanings, which play an important role in shaping the space of animated films. As one of the most outstanding animated films, Coco uses bold and unique color language to shape the film space. It uses the national color to blend the Mexican culture into the story space making it full of Mexican regional and cultural connotation, uses color contrast to shape the physical space, highlighting the three-dimensional and deep sense of the physical space. And also uses color association to create the psychological space, leading audience into the spiritual world of the film. Based on the analysis of the Coco, we an see that when shape the film space of animation, the film maker should give full play to the characteristics and function of color, and apply different color language to shape different space according to the role of the film space, so as to expand and deepen the connotation and expressiveness of film space.
