Magnetic and structural properties of ultrathin magnetic films: Ni/Pt(111)

  • We have studied magnetic and structural properties of ultrathin Ni films grown on PI(lII) surface using in situ surface magneto-optic Kerr effect and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy was absent, and longitudinal Kerr signal was only detectable for Ni films thicker than 6 monolayers. Enhancement in longitudinal Kerr signal by 30% was achieved by post-annealing at temperatures below 800K, but upon annealing at 820K, surface alloy was formed. By using core-level binding-energy shifts, the composition was determined to be Ni 70 at. %.

  • 3차원 실리콘 챔버를 갖는 $15.8{\times}15.8 mm^2$크기의 칩을 바이오 센서용으로 마이크로머시닝 기술을 이용하여 개발하였다. 비등방성 식각기술을 이용하여 (100)방향의 p형 실리콘 웨이퍼위에 마이크로 챔버를 형성하였다. 마이크로 챔버를 갖는 웨이퍼와 백금전극이 도포된 Pyrex 유리를 DGF-48S 접착제를 이용하여 접합하였다. 백금전극과 Ag/AgCl 기준전극에 의한 전기화학적 특성을 조사하였다.

  • In the fabrication of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), carbon counter electrode has been tested for replacing the platinum counter electrode which has two drawbacks: limited surface area and high material cost. Poor mechanical stability of carbon layer due to weak bonding strength to electrically conductive TCO (transparent conducting oxide) glass substrate is a crucial barrier for practical application of carbon counter electrode. In the present study a carbon counter electrode with high conversion efficiency, comparable to Pt counter electrode, could be fabricated by adaption of a bonding layer between particulate carbon material and TCO substrate.

방향족 유기용매의 촉매산화공정에서 이성분계 혼합물의 속도특성 예측 (Kinetics Prediction of Binary Aromatic Solvent Mixtures in Catalytic Oxidation Process)

  • The objective of this study was to depict the kinetic behavior of the platinum catalyst for the deep oxidation of aromatic solvents and their binary mixtures. The oxidation kinetics of aromatic solvents, which were benzene, toluene and m-xylene, was studied on a 0.5% $Pt/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalyst. Deep oxidation of binary mixtures, which were 1:1 in volume, was carried out and the inlet concentration was controlled in the range of 133 and 333ppmv. An approach based on the two-stage redox model was used to analysis the results. The deep oxidation conversion of aromatic solvents was inversely proportional to inlet concentration in plug flow reactor. This trend is due to the zeroth-order kinetics with respect to inlet concentration. The kinetic parameters of multicomponent model were independently evaluated from the single compound oxidation experiments. A simple multicomponent model based on two-stage redox rate model made reasonably good predictions of conversion over the range of parameters studied.

백금전극을 이용한 페놀의 산화특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the oxidation characteristics of phenol on Pt anode)

  • 백금전극에 의한 페놀의 전기화학적 산화거동을 순환 전류전압법에 의하여 연구 검토하였다. 페놀의 초기산화전위는 산성용액에서는 전해질용액의 액성에 크게 영향을 받으나, 염기성용액에서는 0.33-0.40V범위로 거의 일정한 산화전위를 나타내었고, 페놀의 농도변화에 따른 전기화학적 산화의 최적농도는 0.IN부근에서 가장 유리하였다. 그리고 주사속도변화에 따른 조사에서 페놀 산화반응은 비가역적이고 확산이 이 반응을 지배한다.

Novel Fabrication of Platinum Counter Electrode in Dye-sensitized Solar Cells Using Nano-second Pulsed Laser Sintering

  • The counter electrodes in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) play roles in not only collecting electrons from external circuit but also reducing I3- to I- in electrolytes. Generally, conventional counter electrodes for DSSCs are prepared from the high temperature treatment of the H2PtCl6 precursor solution at $400^{\circ}C$ However, the more simplified fabrication process of counter electrodes is required for the commercialization of DSSCs. In this work, we developed novel fabrication process of counter electrodes using nano-second pulsed laser. DSSCs employing counter electrodes prepared by laser process showed conversion efficiency of 6.75% with short-circuit current of 12.73 mA/cm2, open-circuit voltage of 0.74 V and fill factor of 0.72. Closer investigating of photovoltaic properties will be reported.

  • This paper describes the structure modeling and operation characteristics of MFMIS(metal-ferroelectric-metal-insulator-semiconductor) device using the Tsuprem4 which is a semiconductor device tool by Avanti. MFMIS device is being studied for nonvolatile memory application at various semiconductor laboratory but it is difficult to fabricate and analyze MFMIS devices using the semiconductor simulation tool: Tsuprem4, medici and etc. So the new library and new materials parameters for adjusting ferroelectric material and platinum electrodes in the tools are studied. In this paper structural model and operation characteristics of MFMIS devices are measured, which can be easily adopted to analysis of MFMIS device for nonvolatile memory device application.

Pt-AlGaN/GaN HEMT-based hydrogen gas sensors with and without SiNx post-passivation

  • GaN-based sensors have been widely investigated thanks to its potential in detecting the presence of hydrogen. In this study, we fabricated hydrogen gas sensors with AlGaN/GaN heterojunction and investigated how the sensing performance to be affected by SiN surface passivation. The gas sensor employed a high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) with 30 nm platinum catalyst as a gate to detect the hydrogen presence. SiN layer was deposited by inductively-coupled chemical vapor deposition as post-passivation. The sensors with SiN passivation exhibited hydrogen sensing characteristics with various gas flow rates and concentrations of hydrogen in inert background gas at $200^{\circ}C$ similar to the ones without passivation. Aside from quick response time for both sensors, there are differences in sensitivity and recovery time because of the existence of the passivation layer. The results also confirmed the dependence of sensing performance on gas flow rate and gas concentration.

A Study on Ni-H, Pd-H, and Pt-H Systems by Cluster Orbital Method

  • As an application of the cluster orbitals proposed previously, nickel-, palladium-, and platinum-hydrogen systems are studied. Density of states, projected density of states, HOMO levels, and stabilization energies are calculated and compared with those obtained by extended Huckel method for small clusters. These calculations are extended to large clusters to find the size dependence of several physical quantities. Reduced overlap populations are also calculated to clarify the charge transfer phenomena reported earlier. The calculated physical quantities show no dependence on the cluster size. It is also found that the charge transfer occurs due to the intrinsic character of palladium, not due to the edge effect which may be present in small clusters.

폴리피롤 막으로 변성시킨 유리질 탄소 및 백금 전극에서 Cr(Ⅵ) 이온의 정량 (Determination of Cr(Ⅵ) by Glassy Carbon and Platinum Electrodes Modified With Polypyrrole Film)

  • 본 연구에서는 유리질 탄소전극과 백금 전극의 표면에 폴리피롤 막을 도포 시킨 PPy/GC 및 PPy/Pt 변성전극을 제조하고, 이들 변성 전극들을 작업전극으로 구성한 3-전극 장치를 이용하여 Cr(VI)의 정량분석을 시도하였다. 변성전극들은 +1.0V∼-1.0V를 50 mV/sec로 전위를 걸어주어 순환 전압 전류법으로 쉽게 제조할 수 있었으며, 26회 반복 주사함으로써 연구에 필요한 막의 두께를 조절하였다. PPy/GC 변성전극에서 Cr(VI)의 환원 반응은 +0.6V∼-0.5V(vs. Ag/AgCl)까지 넓은 범위에서 환원되는 경향을 보였으며,-0.25V(vs.Ag/AgCl)의 전위에서 최대 환원 봉우리를 가짐을 알 수 있었다. 이 전위에서 검량곡선을 조사한 결과, 0.1 ppm에서 60.0 ppm의 농도범위에서 기울기가 1.75 mA/ppm이고, 상관계수가 0.998인 좋은 직선관계를 가졌다. PPy/Pt 변성전극에서도 Cr(VI)의 환원 거동은 PPy/GC 변성전극과 유사하였으며, 검량곡선은 1.0 ppm∼60.0ppm의 농도범위에서 직선관계를 가졌다. 이때의 기울기와 상관계수는 각각 0.5 mA/ppm 및 0.923이었다. 그러나 선택성은 PPy/GC 변성전극이 약 3 배정도 우수하였다. PPy/GC 변성전극에서 Cu(II), As(III), pb(II) 및 Cd(II)등은 환원 경향을 보이지 않았으므로, Cr(VI)의 정량분석에는 방해하지 않았다.
