Design of a Remote Control Application Using Mobile Phone with WPAN Platform

  • In this paper, we design a mobile phone based remote control system for PC using SKT WPAN platform and compare the presented platform with that of Windows Mobile. The usability of WPAN is one of the main issues which should be considered for the ubiquitous services. For easy development and easy use of the WPAN applications, SKT WPAN platform provides abstract WPAN APIs and WPAN Application Manager for ubiquitous services. In this paper, we implement a remote control application using the WPAN platform and show the validity of the platform comparing with other platforms. In the implemented application, we use WPAN abstract APIs on the mobile phone side and a general Bluetooth APIs on the PC for a connection between phone and PC. Through the implementation and comparison, we show that the WPAN application can be easily developed with WPAN platform.

Comparison between Field Test and Numerical Analysis for a Jacket Platform in Bohai Bay, China

  • This paper, presents a comparison between numerical analysis and field test on a real offshore platform in Bohai Bay, China. This platform is a steel jacket offshore platform with vertical piles. The field testing under wave-induced force and wind force etc. was conducted, in order to obtain the dynamic parameters of the structure, including the frequencies of the jacket platform, as well as the corresponding damping ratios and mode shapes. The natural excitation technology (NexT) combined with eigensystem realization algorithm (ERA) and the peak picking (PP) method in frequency domain are carried out for modal parameter indentification under operational conditions. The three-dimeansional finite element model (FEM) is constructed by ANSYS and analytical modal analysis is performed to generate modal parameters. The analytical results were compared with experimental results. A good agreement was achieved between the finite element and analysis and field test results. It is further demonstrated that the numerical and experimental modal analysis provide a comprehensive study on the dynamic properties of the jacket platform. According to the analysis results, the modal parameters identification under ambient excitation can calibrate finite element model of the jacket platform structures, or can be used for the structural health monitoring system.

  • Demand for big data analysis and AI developers is increasing, but there is a lack of an education base to supply them. In this paper, by developing a cloud-based artificial intelligence education platform, the goal was to establish an environment in which practical practical training can be efficiently learned at low cost at educational institutions and IT companies. The development of the education platform was carried out by planning scenarios for each user, architecture design, screen design, implementation of development functions, and hardware construction. This training platform consists of a containerized workload, service management platform, lecture and development platform for instructors and students, and secured cloud stability through real-time alarm system and age test, CI/CD development environment, and reliability through docker image distribution. The development of this education platform is expected to expand opportunities to enter new businesses in the education field and contribute to fostering working-level human resources in the AI and big data fields.

  • Workers' demands for new applications, especially mobile applications, are increasing. Many industry analysts, researchers and corporate executives say the demand for mobile applications is becoming increasingly difficult to follow in the IT department. Gartner predicts that by 2021, the demand for mobile application development within the enterprise will increase about five times faster than IT can deliver applications. The purpose of this paper is to provide an environment where non-developers who are in charge of business development can develop apps and webs for their work. The basic concept of a new innovative App development tool, Smart Maker Authoring Tool is to develop Apps on the level using easy-to-learn Word or Excel in a computer. The main feature is that the app is developed by a non-developer worker. The coding technology is perfectly optimized to the structure and operation mechanism of the IT Infra such as hardware devices and operating system, which are the targets for implementing a desired function. Rather, it shows excellent software productivity. The most important feature of future business development is that it is developed by a non-developer worker. In this paper, we propose a no-code and low-code platform for non - developers to develop their business. In the future, we will link the IoT based Arduino system and artificial intelligent interpretation system.

  • 고객의 통신 니즈가 다양해지고 통신 인프라가 대용량, 고속화 되고 단말이 지능화됨에 따라 이를 기반으로 IPTV의 셋탑, 컴퓨터 모니터, 이동통신 핸드폰이 이르기 까지 다양한 화면 사이즈의 단말을 통하여 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 이를 위해 원영상을 화면의 크기에 적합하게 크기를 변환하는 영상 리사이징 기술을 이용하게 되며, 그 방식은 DCT 방식과 공간 방식으로 나눌 수 있다. DCT방식은 원영상의 고주파 영역의 조정하여 크기를 변화하는 방식으로 열화는 최소화되나 DCT 변환을 위한 계산량이 많고 고정 크기 블록을 사용하므로 유연성이 떨어진다. 공간영역은 객관적인 평가에서 품질이 열화되더라도 시각적으로 눈에 민감한 영역의 변화를 최소화하는 것이다. 본 논문은 인간시각시스템을 기반으로 눈의 민간도가 높은 망막 이심율이 작은 영역에서는 DCT블록의 크기를 변화를 최소화시키고 망막이심율이 큰 영역에서는 블록의 변화를 크게 하는 가변 블록방식을 제안한다. 이를 통해 우수한 영상 품질을 확보하면서도 시각적으로 뛰어난 리사이징 영상을 얻을 수 있다.

  • Current strategic trends in service distribution and software development in response to Web as a platform represent a paradoxical concurrent pursuit of 'economy of scale' and 'service'. From the software perspective, the major novel elements of the Web 2.0 era are Web as a platform and the emergence of long-tail service enabling web sites to function as an independent distribution channel. The current study analyzed the platform strategy for establishing a community of interactive developer and customers taking the issue of economy of scale into consideration. Software industry should face the new reality and utilize the open source community for cost minimization and securing customer base. Furthermore, Lego-style software development should be adopted for maintaining cost-competitiveness in customized software development.

  • As the 4th industrial revolution emerged, the latest technologies such as IoT, AI, Big data, AR/VR/XR are emerging. However, in the field of virtual reality (VR) technology platform services, there is no standardization and systematic support. In addition, various platform technologies related to virtual reality have been presented, making it difficult to select an API that should be selected for development. In this study, we analyzed the method for virtual reality development and the virtual reality (VR) technology that is being serviced by users. In addition, by presenting the advantages and disadvantages of each development platform, we intend to present a reference point for developers to select an efficient platform. In addition, it will help the developer to select an effective equipment and software platform in comparison with the advantages and disadvantages of various HMD devices used in virtual reality. The virtual reality (VR) development environment test used products from Oculus, and the software development environment was tested with two types: WebBased VR and HMD embedded.

  • The global market for medical devices is huge, and it will continue showing remarkable growth in the future. However, due to the entry barrier to develop medical devices, many domestic companies have technical problems in entering the medical device industry. In this paper, we introduce an open platform that can help with research and development for companies in the healthcare industry. This open platform consists of a hardware part and a software part. A hardware part is combined into CPU, base and other modules that are easy to replace and assemble. A software part is based on application software for development developed by Bionet. We test the performance of the open medical device platform using a biosignal processing algorithm.

  • EDISON is a web-based platform that provides easy and convenient use of simulation software on high-performance computers. One of the most important roles of a computational science platform, such as EDISON, is to post-process and represent the simulation results data so that the user can easily understand the data. We interviewed EDISON users and collected requirements for post-processing and represent of simulation results, which included i) flexible data representation, ii) supporting various data representation components, and iii) flexible and easy development of view template. In previous studies, it was difficult to develop or contribute data representation components, and the view templates were not able to be shared or recycled. This causes a problem that makes it difficult to create ecosystems for the representation tool development of numerous simulation software. EDISON-VIEW is a framework for post-processing and representing simulation results produced from the EDISON platform. This paper proposes various methods used in the design and development of the EDISON-VIEW framework to solve the above requirements and problems. We have verified its usefulness by applying it to simulation software in various fields such as material, computational fluid dynamics, computational structural dynamics, and computational chemistry.
