  • With the recent development of manufacturing technology and the diversification of consumer needs, not only the process and quality control of production have become more complicated but also the kinds of information that manufacturing facilities provide the user about process have been diversified. Therefore the importance of big data analysis also has been raised. However, most small and medium enterprises (SMEs) lack the systematic infrastructure of big data management and analysis. In particular, due to the nature of domestic manufacturing companies that rely on foreign manufacturers for most of their manufacturing facilities, the need for their own data analysis and manufacturing support applications is increasing and research has been conducted in Korea. This study proposes integrated analysis platform for process and quality analysis, considering manufacturing big data database (DB) and data characteristics. The platform is implemented in two versions, Web and C/S, to enhance accessibility which perform template based quality analysis and real-time monitoring. The user can upload data from their local PC or DB and run analysis by combining single analysis module in template in a way they want since the platform is not optimized for a particular manufacturing process. Also Java and R are used as the development language for ease of system supplementation. It is expected that the platform will be available at a low price and evolve the ability of quality analysis in SMEs.

  • The computational science and engineering field, which combines basic science and computing technology, has emerged as a third scientific methodology, following theories and experiments. This study aimed to identify factors and relationships that affect the continued use of the computational science and engineering (CSE) platform for its successful operation, utilization, and diffusion. To that end, the quality factors of the platform were derived by combining the information system success model and the technology acceptance model. These factors affected user satisfaction and intention to reuse through users' perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of the platform. An empirical analysis was conducted through a questionnaire survey of 373 users of the EDISON platform, a representative CSE platform in Korea. The results revealed that all quality factors have a positive influence on perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Specifically, information quality has a significant influence on perceived ease of use, and system quality has a significant influence on perceived usefulness. Perceived ease of use has a greater impact on user satisfaction than perceived usefulness, and satisfaction affects intention to reuse. The results can contribute to the development of CSE platforms and the development strategy to expand the number of users.

  • Computational Science and Engineering is a convergence study that understands and solves complex problems such as science, engineering, and social phenomena through modeling using computing resources. Computational science and engineering combines algorithms, computational and informatics, and infrastructure. The importance of computational science is increasing with the improvement of computer performance and the development of large data processing technology. In Korea, Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) has been developing national computational science engineering software and utilization technology by combining basic science and computing technology through EDISON project. The EDISON project builds an open EDISON platform and integrates and services information systems in seven areas of computational science and engineering (computational thermal fluids, nanophysics, computational chemistry, structural dynamics, computational design, and computational medicine). Using this, we have established a web-based curriculum to lay the groundwork for fostering scientific talent and commercializing computational science and engineering software. The purpose of this study is to derive the quality characteristic factors of computational science platform and to empirically examine the effect on user satisfaction. This paper examines how the quality characteristics of information systems, the computational science engineering platform, affect the user satisfaction by modifying the research questions according to the propensity of the computational science platform by referring to the success factors of DeLone and McLean's information system. Based on the results of this study, we will suggest strategic implications for platform improvement by searching the priority of quality characteristics of computational science platform.

  • This study focuses on the impact of research data metadata quality evaluation index on the revitalization of K-BDS, a research data platform in the bio field, and examines the mediating effect of motivation factors for utilizing the platform. The investigation employs a structural equation model analysis and bootstrap analysis to explore the interrelationships among the three variables. The findings demonstrate that researchers who prioritize the quality of metadata display higher motivation to use the research data platform, leading to an intention to activate the platform. The study also confirms the mediating effect of motivation factors. Moreover, a comprehensive understanding of the sub-factors within each variable is attained through regression analysis and Sobel test. The results highlight that enhancing searchability is crucial to activate research data sharing in the bio field, while improving discoverability is vital for research data reuse. Interestingly, the study reveals that citationability does not significantly impact platform activation. As a conclusion, to foster platform activation, it is imperative to provide systematic support by enhancing metadata quality. This improvement can not only increase trust in the platform but also institutionally solidify the benefits of citation.
