Analysis of Pressure Plate Behavior of a Clutch Including Thermal and Mechanical Material Properties (기계적 및 열적 물성을 고려한 클러치 압력판의 거동해석)

  • In the mechanical clutches, the pressure plate is one of the important parts for transferring the power and reducing the vibration. Instead of gray and ductile irons, CGI(Compacted Graphite Cast Iron) is concerned to be the replacement recently. A thermo-mechanical coupled analysis was performed to investigate the behavior of the pressure plate for manual clutches. Thermal and mechanical properties of three kinds of cast irons were obtained from the mechanical experiments and referred other technical reports. The results of FEM analysis, were well match with the experimental ones. In this designated FEM method, temperature distribution, stress distribution and thermal deformation were successfully gained and these results will help to design the pressure plate which was made by cast irons including CGI.

  • This paper is analysis of stiffened opening thick plate on foundation. This paper has the object of investigating natural frequencies of opening thick plates on Pasternak foundation by means of finite element method and providing Kinematic design data for mat of building structures. In this paper, vibration analysis of rectangular opening thick plate is done by use of Serendipity finite element with 8 nodes by considering shearing strain of plate. And vibration analysis of stiffener is done by used of Timoshenko beam-column element wit 3 nodes. It is shown that natural frequencies depend on not only Winkler foundation parameter but also shear foundation parameter, opening position, opening size, stiffener size.

  • This paper has the object of investigating natural frequencies of opening thick plates on Pasternak foundation by means of finite element method and providing Kinematic design data for mat of building structures. Vibration analysis that opening plate subjected to In-plane stress is presented in this paper. Finite element analysis of rectangular opening plate is done by use of rectangular finite element with 8-nodes. In order to analysis plate which is supported on Pasternak foundation, the Winkler foundation parameter is varied with 0, 10, 102, 103 and the shear foundation parameter is 0, 5, 10, 15. The ratio of In-plane force to critical load is applied as 0.2, 0.8, respectively. This paper analyzed varying opening Position and opening size.

  • The objective of the present paper is to develop an analysis method for the correction of welding deformation of stiffened plate by line heating. In this paper, the equivalent loading method, based on the inherent strain theory, was used to analyze the heat-straightening of a stiffened plate. Equivalent loads were obtained by integrating the inherent strains which were determined from the highest temperature and the degree of restraint. Finally, the obtained equivalent loads were imposed, as applied loads, on the elastic analysis for the prediction of correction of welding deformation in stiffened plate. The proposed method is expected as a basic study in heat-straightening analysis of welding deformation in large scale block.

Study on the Reinforced Method of Doubler Plate in Ship Hull Structure (선박 이중판의 보강법 연구)

  • A study for the structural strength analysis on the doubler plate subjected to the axial, biaxial in-plane compression and shear load has been performed through the systematic evaluation process. In order to estimate the proper static strength of doubler plate, non-linear elasto-plastic analysis is introduced. Gap element modeling for contact effect between main plate and doubler is prepared and nonlinear analysis procedures are illustrated based on MSC/N4W . In addition, some design guides are suggested through the consideration of several important effects such as corrosion of main plate, doubler width, doubler length and doubler thickness. Finally theses results are compared with developed design formula based on the buckling strength and general trends and design guides according to the variation of design parameters are discussed.

  • Continuous contraction and expansion of disk brake can be due to friction and temperature difference at repeated sudden braking. As serious vibration at disk is produced, the braking force will be changed ununiformly and braking system can not be stabilized. Temperature and heat flux at disk brake are investigated by structural and thermal analysis in this study. The maximum equivalent stress and displacement are shown respectively at the ventilated hole and the lower part of disk plate. At thermal analysis of initial state, temperature on disk plate is distributed from 95.9C to 100C. The maximum heat flux of 0.0168W/mm2 is shown at the inner friction part between disk plate and pad. At thermal analysis of transient state, temperature on disk plate is distributed from 95C to 96.5C after 100 second. The maximum heat flux of 0.0024W/mm2 is also shown at the inner friction part between disk plate and pad. By comparing with initial state, the temperature on disk plate is more uniformly distributed and heat flux is more decreased by 7 times at transient state.

Free Vibration Analysis of Perforated Plate Submerged in Fluid

  • An analytical method to estimate the coupled frequencies of the circular plate submerged in fluid is developed using the finite Fourier-Bessel series expansion and Rayleigh-Ritz method. To verify the validity of the analytical method developed, finite element method is used and the frequency comparisons between them are found to be in good agreement. For the perforated plate submerged in fluid, it is almost impossible to develop a finite element model due to the necessity of the fine meshing of the plate and the fluid at the same time. This necessitates the use of solid plate with equivalent material properties. Unfortunately the effective elastic constants suggested by the ASME code are found to be not valid for the modal analysis. Therefore in this study the equivalent material properties of perforated plate are suggested by performing several finite element analyses with respect to the ligament efficiencies.

A Study on Heat Transfer and Pressure drop Characteristics in Plate Heat Exchange (판형 열교환기의 열전달 및 압력강하 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Plate heat exchange(PHE) will be applied to the refrigeration and air conditioning systems as evaporators or condensers for their high efficiency and compactness. The purpose of this study is the analyze the characteristics of heat transfer and pressure drop of plate heat exchanger. Numerical work was conducted using the FLUENT code k-εmodel. Also the dependence of heat transfer coefficient and friction factor on Reynolds number was investigated. As the Reynolds number increases, it is found that heat transfer coefficient also increases, but friction factor decreases. The study examines the internal flow, thermal distribution and the pressure distribution in the channel of plate heat exchanger. The results of CFD analysis compared with experimental data, and the difference of friction factor and Nusselt number in plate heat exchanger are 10% and 20%, respectively, Therefore the CFD analysis model is effective for the performance prediction of plate heat exchanger.

Free Vibration Analysis of an Annular Plate by the Independent Coordinate Coupling Method (독립좌표연성법을 이용한 원환판의 자유진동해석)

  • This paper is concerned with the free vibration analysis of an annular plate with boundary conditions of simply supported-free, clamped-free and free-free, respectively. Exact solutions for the natural frequency and mode of an annular plate can be obtained by solving the differential equation but other methods such as the Rayleigh-Ritz method and the finite element method can be also used. In this research, we applied the Independent Coordinate Coupling Method(ICCM) to the annular plate and prove that the ICCM can accurately predict the natural frequency and mode shape of the annular plate. The numerical results show that the ICCM can be used effectively for the free vibration problem of plate with a hole compared to the Rayleigh-Ritz method and the finite element method.
