In this paper, we have studied minimization of the kerf-width and surface burning, which occurred after the conventional singulation process of the multi-layer BGA board with copper, polyethylene and epoxy glass fiber. The high thermal energy of a pulsed Nd:YAG laser is used to cut the multi-layer board. The most considerable matter in the laser cutting of the multi-layer BGA boards is their different absorption coefficient to the laser beam and their different heat conductivity. The cut mechanism of a multi-layer BGA board using a 2$^{nd}$ harmonic Nd:YAG laser is the thermal vaporization by high temperature rise based on the Gaussian profile and copper melting point. In this experiment, we found that the sacrifice layer and Na blowing are effective in minimizing the surface burning by the reaction between oxygen in the air and the laser beam. In addition, N2 blowing reduces laser energy loss by debris and suppresses surface oxidation. Also, the beam incidence on the epoxy layer compared to polyimide was much more suitable to reduce damage to polyimide with copper wire for the multi layer BGA singulation. When the polyester double-sided tape is used as a sacrifice layer, surface carbonization becomes less. The SEM, non-contact 3D inspector and high-resolution microscope are used to measure cut line-width and surface morphology.
During sling wear of a ferrous metal, a surface layer is formed. Its microstructure, constituting phases, and mechanical property are different from those of the original wearing material. Since wear occurs at the layer, it is important to characterize the layer and understand how wear rate changes with different layers. Various layers are formed depending on external wear conditions such as load, sliding speed, counterpart material, and environmental conditions. In this research, sliding wear tests of pure iron were carried out against two different counterparts (AISI 52100 bearing steel and $Al_2O_3$) in the air and in an inert Ar gas atmosphere. Pure iron was employed to exclude other effects from secondary phases in steel on the wear. Wear tests were performed at room temperature. Worn surfaces, wear debris, and cross-sections were analyzed after the test. It was found that these two different counterparts and environments produced diverse layers, resulting in significant changes in wear rate. Against the bearing steel, pure iron showed higher wear rate in an Ar atmosphere due to severe adhesion than that in the air. On the contrary, the iron showed much higher wear rate in the air against $Al_2O_3$. Different layers and wear rates were analyzed and discussed by oxidation, severe plastic deformation, and adhesion at wearing surfaces.
Al/SiC composites were fabricated by thermal spray process, and the dry sliding wear tests were performed using the various sliding speed of 10, 30, 60 and 90 RPM through 1000 cycles. The applied load was 10 N and radius of wear track was 15 mm. Wear tracks on the Al/SiC composites were investigated using scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). In the case of sliding speed of 10 RPM, adhesive wear behavior caused by plastic deformation of composits surface was observed. In the cases of sliding speed of 30, 60, 90 RPM, abrasive wear behavior on the adhered layer formed by debris were observed. Through this study, it was found that the wear behavior of Al/SiC composites was mainly influenced by the sliding speed.

Since nylon 66, a polyamide resin, has been developed and applied to toothbrush bristles, plastic consumption has increased rapidly every year, along with the increase in the amount of plastic discarded. Among the various forms of plastic debris produced by the decomposition of plastics, microplastics with a size of less than 5 mm are widely distributed in the environment, which poses a threat not only to the environment but also to animals and humans. The pathway through which microplastics enter the human body is known as ingestion by water and food, inhalation from air, and skin contact. Microplastics introduced into the human body affect human health. Recently, food-related studies have begun to be reported among microplastics-related studies, and analyses of the presence of microplastics in processed foods, such as canned foods, dried seaweed, beverages, beer, milk, sugar, and honey, are underway. Here, we present trends in the production and consumption of plastics, the generation of microplastics, the route of human inflow and human risk, and the microplastics present in processed foods, which are limited but have recently been reported. Thus far, studies on microplastics and risk assessment in processed foods have been insufficient, but microplastics are gradually being recognized as a factor that affects the environment and food. Future studies are expected to have implications for regulations regarding microplastics present in processed foods.

Tribological properties of nanoporous structured alumina film was investigated. Alumina film (AAO: anodic aluminum oxide) of $60{\mu}m$ thickness having nanopores of 45 nm diameter with 105 nm interpore-diatance was fabricated by mild anodization process. Reciprocating ball-on-flat sliding friction tests using 1 mm diameter steel ball as a counterpart were carried out with wide range of normal load from 1 mN to 1 N in an ambient environment. The morphology of worn surfaces were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy. The friction coefficient was strongly influenced by the applied normal load. Smooth layer patches were formed on the worn surface of both AAO and steel ball at relatively high load (100 mN and 1 N) due to tribochemical reaction and compaction of wear debris. These tribolayers contributed to the lower friction at high loads. Extremely thin layer patches, due to mild plastic deformation of surface layer, were sparsely distributed on the worn surface of AAO at low loads (1 mN and 10 mN) without the evidence of tribochemical reaction. Delaminated wear particles were generated at high loads by fatigue due to repeated loading and sliding.

In this research, fretting tests were conducted in air to investigate the wear characteristics of fuel cladding materials with the fretting parameters such as normal load, slip amplitude, frequency and the number of cycles. A high frequency fretting wear tester was designed for this experiment by KAERI. After the experiments, the wear volume and the shape of wear contour were measured by the surface roughness tester. Tribologically transformed structures(TTS) were analysed by means of optical and scanning electron microscopes to identify the main wear mechanisms. The results of this study showed that the wear volume were increased with increasing slip amplitude, and the shape of wear contour was transformed V-type to W-type. Also, it was found that the critical slip amplitude was 168${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. These phenomena mean that wear mechanism transformed partial slip to gross slip to accelerate wear volume. The wear depth increased with an increase of friction coefficient due to increase of normal load and frequency. The fretting wear mechanisms were believed that, after adhesion and surface plastic deformation occurred by relative sliding motion on the contact between two specimens, TTS creation was induced by surface strain hardening and wear debris were detached from the contact surface which were produced by the micro crack propagation and creation.

The houses are formed in the lower part of the mountain slope face in most agricultural areas of Korea, and old residents accounting for a large portion of the agricultural populations cannot respond to the evacuation quickly when the landslide happens, and the possibility the life damage occurs is high. Therefore, it is urgent to arrange the measure on this. This study is intended to develop the personal disaster evacuation apparatus that can be installed in the house to minimize the life damage by the landslide and to develop the self-initiative evacuation apparatus. This study suggested the load applicable to the personal disaster evacuation apparatus by quantitatively analyzing the effect of the load of rockslides and avalanches caused by the landslide on the structure. Also, the material property of materials was calculated through the tension and bending intensity test after making the specimen of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) member. The load weight and material property drawn from this study can be used as the basic material for the stability analysis of the personal disaster evacuation apparatus.
We have detected the slime mold, Diachea leucopodia (GNU06-10) in a strawberry greenhouse located in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam. Typical fruiting bodies had developed gregariously on the strawberry leaves, petioles, and plant debris on ground soil habitat, and also surprisingly on plastic pipes and a vinyl covering. Field samples were examined via stereomicroscopy, light microscopy, and SEM for the determination of morphological characteristics. Dark-brown to black spores formed gregariously within the stipitate cylindrical sporangium, and were covered by an iridescent peridium, which may be intact at maturity, or may have disintegrated. The upper portion of the peridium generally breaks up to expose the spores, whereas the lower portion was usually persistent. The results of energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS) analysis showed that lime was present in the stalk and columella but absent from the spores, capillitium, and peridium. The above characteristics confirm its taxonomic position in the genus Diachea. However, this genus is intermediate in character between the Physarales and Stemonitales of the Myxogastromycetidae. Hence, this genus had been classified as a member of the Stemonitales until the mid-1970's, on the basis of its iridescent peridium and noncalcareous capillitial system, similar to Comatricha of the Stemonitaceae. By way of contrast, emphasis on morphological characteristics, most notably the calcareous stalk and typical columella, places Diachea within the order Physarales. The presence of a phaneroplasmodium during the trophic stage and lime deposition in its sporophores, as was confirmed in this work, supported the inclusion of Diachea in the Physarales, and the noncalcareous capillitial system verified its identification as a member of the Didymiaceae. Further characteristics of the species D. leucopodia include the following: phaneroplasmodium, spore globose 7.5 ${\mu}m$ in diameter, very minutely roughened; sporangia $500{\mu}m\times1mm$, more or less cylindrical, gregarious, stalked 1.2mm; stalk and columella white.

Failure to use effective methods of reduction, fixation and immobilization may lead to osteomyelitis with the exposed necrotic bone, as the overzealous use of transosseous wires & plates that devascularizes bone segments in the compound comminuted fractures of mandible. Once osteomyelitis secondary to fractures has become established, intermaxillary fixation should be instituted as early as possible. Fixation enhances patient comfort and hinders ingress of microorganisms and debris by movement of bone fragments. Teeth and foreign materials that are in the line of fracture should be removed and initial debridement performed at the earliest possible time. Grossly necrotic bone should be excised as early as possible ; no attempt should be made to create soft tissue flaps to achieve closure over exposed bone. The key to treatment of chronic osteomyelitis of the mandible is adequate and prolonged soft tissue drainage. If good soft tissue drainage is provided over a long period, sequestration of infected bone followed by regeneration or fibrous tissue replacement will occur so that appearance and function are not seriously altered. Localization and sequestration of infected mandible are far better performed by natural mechanism of homeostasis than by cutting across involved bone with a cosmetic or functional defect. As natural host defenses and conservative therapy begin to be effective, the process may become chronic, inflammation regresses, granulation tissue is formed, and new blood vessels cause lysis of bone, thus separating fragments of necrotic bone(sequestra) from viable bone. The sequestra may be isolated by a bed of granulation tissue, encased in a sheath of new bone(involucrum), and removed easily with pincettes. This is a case report of the long-term conservative drainage care in osteomyelitis associated with mandibular fractures.
When a slope failure or a debris flow occurs, a shear strength on failure plane becomes nearly zero and soil begins to flow like a non-cohesive liquid. A consistency of cohesive soils changes as a water content increases. Even a cohesive soil existing at liquid limit state has a small amount of shear strength. In this study, a water content, at which a shear strength of cohesive soils is zero and then cohesive soils will start to flow, was proposed. Three types of clays (kaolinite, bentonite and kaolinite (50%)+bentonite (50%)) were mixed with three different solutions (distilled water, sea water and microbial solution) at liquid limit state and then their water contents were increased step by step. Then, their undrained shear strength was measured using a portable vane shear device called Torvane. The ranges of undrained shear strength at liquid and plastic limits are 3.6-9.2 kPa and 24-45 kPa, respectively. On the other hand, the water content that corresponds to the value of the undrained shear strength changing most rapidly is called flow water content. The flow limit refers to the water content when undrained shear strength of cohesive soils is zero. In order to investigate the relationship between liquid limit and flow limit, the cohesive index was defined as a value of the difference between flow limit and liquid limit. The new plasticity index was defined as the value of difference between flow limit and plastic limit. The new liquidity index was also defined using flow limit. The values of flow limit are 1.5-2 times higher than those of liquid limit. At the same time, the values of new plasticity index are 2-5.5 times higher than those of original plasticity index.
