  • The purpose of this study is to estimate crack reduction properties of covering concrete with fibers in basement. Air contents, slump, compressive strength, tensile strength and plastic shrinkage has been tested to conduct the optimum addition ratio and type of fiber. The results is a following. For the properties of air contents, all of the specimens added fibers shown the higher than plain concrete. For the flowability, slump decreased about 40-80% when all of the specimens added fibers. For the strength properties, the specimens added nylon fiber shown higher compressive and tensile strength about 5-15% comparing with other concrete. For the plastic shrinkage, cracking decreased when the fiber added comparing with plain concrete. Especially, when nylon fiber added in the concrete, the plastic shrinkage did not occurred. For the overall consideration, when the addition ratio of nylon fiber is 0.6%, the press concrete is identified as showed optimum properties.

  • Recently, structures such as large retailers, outlets and warehouses have been increasing in accordance with changes in consumption patterns. Since these structures include ultra-flat slab members, they are thoroughly managed to control slab cracking by the plastic and drying shrinkage. In order to control the cracking of the slab member, a chemical crack reduction method is used. In particular, the use of the shrinkage reducing agent has been examined. However, domestic research results are limited. In this study, the shrinkage properties of concrete using shrinkage reducing agent and the drying shrinkage properties according to the mixing factors were investigated. The performance of domestic shrinkage reducing agent was appeared similar to that of overseas high-grade shrinkage reducing agent. As the shrinkage reducing agent usage increased, the drying shrinkage reduction effect increased. At the age of 100 days, the dry shrinkage rate of specimen with the shrinkage reducing agent of 1.5%was shown about half that of the specimen without the shrinkage reducing agent. The shrinkage reducing agent was gound to have no specific performance change for the use of the admixture.

  • Nowadays, as to increased the workability of the press concrete and decrease the cracking, the fiber-reinforced admixture has been widely used. As the low adhesion force between the paste and fiber-reinforced admixture, it was considered as could not be used in the structure. Even more, as the loss of flowability and the exposure of the fiber, further study is needed. In this study, as the different environment and position of the building, the dosages of the fiber-reinforced admixture has also been changed. The fundamental properties and cracking of fiber-reinforced concrete have been tested.

  • Concrete is the most significant material in the construction industry which is required to construct several facilities like roads, buildings, and bridges etc. which leads to the economic development of a country. But now days, in view of sustainable development and environmental problems, plastic waste management is one of the major environmental issues due to its non-biodegradable nature which allows it to stay in the landfills until they are cleaned up. To overcome all these concerns, plastic waste may be used as a substitute of natural fine and coarse aggregate in concrete and a valuable solution to utilize the plastic items which causes several problems. In order to, present study is focused on the affecting properties of concrete as workability, compressive strength, and tensile strength of concrete with using plastic waste and without using plastic waste. Based on the detailed literature, it was observed that the plastic waste is not affecting the quality and consistency of concrete. However, as the number of PVC particles in the mixture increased, the drying shrinkage values decreased and the inclusion of plastic flakes can mitigate drying shrinkage cracking which leads the higher durability of concrete. Based on the comprehensive literature, it was also observed that the plastic aggregate found to be suitable for low and medium strength concrete. However, the investigation on the application of plastic aggregate in the high strength concrete is found limited. It was concluded that the optimum percentage of the plastic aggregate was found about 20%.

  • This paper presents some research results on the shrinkage characteristics and frost resistance before and after cracking of FR-ECC(Fire Resistance-Engineered Cementitious Composite). Also, a waterstop performance and exfoliating resistance of multi-layer lining specimens using FR-ECC and flexural performance of beam member by repaired FR-ECC are estimated in this paper. Experimental results indicate that the plastic shrinkage crack and length change ratio of FR-ECC have been reduced as compared with that of the existing repair mortar, and that its crack resistance on the dry shrinkage is improved under the confining stress. As well as FR-ECC has been great in the frost resistance and its tensile properties under the cracked state have been not reduced by freezing and thawing reaction. In addition, beam member by repaired FR-ECC have been increased in the flexural properties such as initial crack moment, yeild moment, and its crack width has been controled in a stable by the frexural failure.

  • Residual stress in the injection molded part is originated from thermal shrinkage and shear stress during injection molding process. There are many measurement methods of residual stress in the plastic part. Residual stress in opaque products can be measured by chemical cracking test. This method enables the solvent and specimen to react and to cause cracks. Cracks developed according to the level of residual stress. Thus the stresses in plastic part can be quantitatively measured by counting the number of cracks or measuring the size of cracks. Relationship between stress and number of cracks in a plastic specimen has been investigated in this study. Bergen jig was used to give a strain in the specimens those were molded using PC/PBT and PC/ABS. Solvent for the chemical cracking test was prepared using tetrahydrofuran and methyl alcol with the ratio of 1 to 3. Stresses in the specimen can be calculated by strains those were imposed by Bergen jig. Cracks were developed for stress higher than certain level. The number of cracks increased by second order function for stress.

  • In this study, it is willing to present that fundamental data for proposing quantitatively shrinkage cracking evaluation method such as plat-ring type restrained test method. It is possible to decide that specimen diameter is s 150mm with evaluating restrained shrinkage crack properties of concrete according to change of ring diameter in specimen. Also, effectiveness of test method according to mixing of PVA fiber is evaluated as part of a repeatability verification experiment of plat-ring type restrained test method using ring which diameter is 150mm. As a result, it is possible to measure the crack due to the plastic shrinkage which was occurred within 48hours at early age with plat-ring type restrained test method. Hereafter, it is considered that the study concerning environmental condition and mixing factor in plat-ring type restrained test method is need.

  • Fiber reinforcement has been being widely used in concrete to enhance the mechanical properties and to reduce the micro-cracking caused by plastic and drying shrinkage. While researches has been focused on the benefits of fiber reinforcement, the properties of fiber reinforced concrete are strongly dependent on the type, shape and the amount of fibers in concrete.

  • This study was performed to prove the possibility of utilizing short plastic fibers made for recycled polyethylene terephthalate (RPET) as a structural material. To measure of crack control capacity, restrained drying shrinkage cracking test was performed. In order to verify the capacity of RPET fiber, it was compared with poly propylene (PP) fiber, most widely used short synthetic fiber, for fiber volume fraction of 0%, 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1.0%.

  • In this study, three kinds of cellulose fibers to crack reduction performance were evaluated and the results are as follows. Plastic shrinkage cracking is evaluated by the relative crack area, at all levels between $0.9kg/m^3$ and $1.2kg/m^3$, except for UF0.9% of upto50% showed are duction compared with Plain. In according to recommended amount of fiber in each area of the crack HF0.9>CEL1.2>UF0.6 effect of the order was more effective. While the impact strength of UF and CEL fibers until the final destruction are about five times the number of falls, HF fiber count drop was 10-18 time.
