Consecutive pepper cultivation in plastic film houses may lead to salt accumulation because pepper is considered a heavy nutrient feeder. For this reason, appropriate methods of fertilizer application should be established. Thus, we investigated the effect of different intervals of side-dressing N and K fertilizer applications on soil and red pepper in a plastic film house. All the amounts of recommended compost and phosphorus fertilizer were applied as basal dressing. Cultivars of the pepper plant were Cheon-Ha-Dae-Se (CHDS) and NW-BiGaLim (NW-BGL). Nitrogen and potassium fertilizers were treated as side-dressing at different intervals, 22 times in every 10 days, 15 times in every 15 days, and 11 times in every 20 days. Soil pH decreased with decreasing the intervals of side-dressing applications, whereas electrical conductivity (EC) declined with the increasing fertilizer application intervals. In particular, EC value decreased by up to 75% with CHDS cultivar in the plot of 20 day-interval and with NW-BGL cultivar in the plot of 15 day-interval. The concentrations of available phosphorus in the soils increased with increasing the interval. The concentration of exchangeable $K^+$ increased but exchangeable $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ decreased in all the plots, except in the control plot. The concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus in leaves of the pepper plants were lowest in the control plot. Potassium concentrations in the pepper leaves were high in the control plot and in the plots of CHDS with 10 day-interval and NW-BGL with 15 day-interval. Red pepper productivity was high in the plots of 10- and 15 day-intervals for CHDS cultivar and 15- and 20 day-intervals for NW-BGL cultivar. Therefore, the 15 day-interval of side-dressing N and K applications was considered as an appropriate method for cultivating pepper plants and protecting soil in plastic film houses.
To investigate effects of kind of pot for raising of seedling (single plastic pot, double plastic pot, circular peat pot, square peat pot) and planting method of the pot (3/3, 2/3, and 1/3 by the buried degree of pot height) on watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) growth, this research was conducted under plastic film house. Since planting of seedlings, number, area and photosynthesis rate of leaves, plant height and weight were superior in seedling grown in double plastic pot than those grown in the others. In fruit characteristics harvested at 12 weeks after planting, fruit height, diameter and weight were longer in double plastic pot than in the others, also fruit peel thickness and hilum diameter were thicker and shorter. Initial growth of the plant after planting with seedling grown in double plastic pot was superior in method buried the 2/3 degree of the pot height than the other methods.
This experiment was conducted to determine the development of mixed organic fertilizer using photosynthetic bacteria and mass production of mixed microbial compound for the environment-friendly agriculture. Photosynthetic bacteria, Rhodobacter sp. SA16 was isolated from soil collected by plastic film house. The SA16 strain was identified based on 16S rDNA sequence analysis and it is closely related to Rhodobacter sp.(100% similarity). The mixed organic fertilizer using SA16 was made of $N-P_2O_5-K_2O=60-10-20\;g\;kg^{-1}$ with combined soybean cake, sesame cake, powdered blood, fish meal, powdered bones and red-yellow soil. The mixed organic fertilizer 0.45, 0.90 and 1.35 Mg $ha^{-1}$ application in Ihyeon series was treated based on soil testing for lettuce cultivation in plastic film house. These results showed that the yield was increased the 18 and 19%over control by the mixed organic fertilizer application 0.45 and 0.90 Mg $ha^{-1}$, respectively. In the physical properties of the soil, the porosity of mixed organic fertilizer 1.35 Mg $ha^{-1}$ treatment was highest at 58.8%. Our results clearly revealed that the organic fertilizer using Rhodobacter sp. SA16 and mass production of mixed strains could be a useful technology in pursuing environment-friendly agriculture.
This study was carried out to investigate the change of chemical properities and, microorganism due to continual cropping and to find the influences to physiological disordered eggplant fruits. Accumulation of soil nutrients seemed to be increased with the plastic film house duration and decreased with soil depth. The longer the period of eggplant cultivation duration, the lower the ratio of bacteria to fungi(B/F) and actinomycetes to the fungi(A/F) in rhizosphere soils. The soil EC and available $P_2O_5$ were significally correlated with the population densities of fungi($r=0.423^{**}$) and actinomycetes($r=0.438^{**}$), respectively. The ratio of split or drupaceous fruit showed tendency to increase with low soil moisture, and that of hypertrophy fruit showed tendency to increase in fields with longer cultivation years and high soil EC. The soil EC significally correlated with the ratio of hypertrophy fruit ($r=0.719^{**}$, Y=0.210X+0.578)and total physiological disordered fruits ($r=0.656^{**}$, Y=0.769X+7.097). And value of soil (Ca+Mg)/K was correlated with the ratio of physiologically disordered fruits($R^2=0.356^{*}$, Y=-1.333Ln(X)+12.26).

The strobilurin fungicides, azoxystrobin and kresoxim-methyl, were investigated to know the biological half-lives and dissipation patterns in Korean melon under plastic film house condition. Used pesticides for field application were 20% azoxystrobin of suspension concentrate and 47% kresoxim-methyl of water dispersible granule. Two pesticides were sprayed at recommended and double dose rate. Pesticide residues in Korean melon were analyzed until 14 days after application. The azoxystrobin was analyzed by HPLC equipped with UV detector after cleanup with florisil glass column. Initial residue concentrations of azoxystrobin in Korean melon at recommended and double dose rate were 0.09 mg/kg and 0.14 mg/kg, respectively. Those were less than 0.2 mg/kg maximum residue limit of Korean melon established by KFDA. The biological half-lives of azoxystrobin in Korean melon were 4.7 days at recommended dose rate and 7.8 days at double dose rate. Initial concentrations of kresoxim-methyl which was analyzed by GLC-ECD in Korean melon at recommended and double dose rate were 0.10 mg/kg and 0.23 mg/kg, respectively. Those were less than 1.0 mg/kg, MRL. The biological half-lives of kresoxim-methyl in Korean melon were 4.1 days at recommended dose rate and 4.8 days at double dose rate. The residue amounts of both pesticide was lower than MRL and biological half-lives were not so long. Because the weight of Korean melon under plastic film house condition was fast increased during cultivation.

The investigation and the analysis of soil chemical properties, microbial flora and cultural practices in plastic house of 60 farms (pepper 20, cucumber 20, oriental melon 20) were conducted in Chonnam area film. An amount of fertilizer application of farms was more than that of standard fertilizer application. That was phosphate at two and a half times, potassium at twice and manure at three times the amount of standard application. It was inferred that excessive fertilizer application would lead to salts accumulation in soil. Continuous cropping injury would be incurred by excesive salts accumulation in soil. Even if inorganic elements in soil culturing peppers, cucumbers and oriental melons were greater than optimum level, base-saturation degree of soil culturing peppers, cucumbers and oriental melons was 40:18:12, 55:16:14 and 40:27:11 respectively. That was lower than the optimum levels (60:15:5). Therefore, crops would be affected by uptake inhibition by nutrition imbalance. Density of Fusarium is related to plant decease in soil i.e. pepper $26.2{\times}10^2\;cfu\;g^{-1}$, cucumber $75.8{\times}10^2\;cfu\;g^{-1}$ and oriental melon $6.5{\times}10^2\;cfu\;g^{-1}$. B/F of soil planted with pepper, cucumber and oriental melon was 91.2, 80.4 and 18.8, respectively.
Soil pH is an intensity factor of releasing hydrogen ion which is buffered by aluminum. It depends on pH buffer capacity of Al whether soil pH is governed directly by cations or not. A study was conducted to elucidate the pattern of pH changes by soil EC. Fertilizer and three kinds of organic manures composed of cow and pig and fowl dropping and one kind of rice straw compost were added independently into upland sandy loam soil. This treated soils and four upland soils under plastic film house having different levels in electrical conductivity (EC) were incubated with field capacity at $30^{\circ}C$ for 5, 10, 20 and 40 days. Soil pH varied directly as the cations contained in organic materials according to degree of saturating pH buffer capacity (pBC) of sandy loam soil. pH of the soils under plastic film house was lowered by soil EC due to governing by overplus of cation beyond pBC.
Tip burn has been reported as one of the most serious physiological disorder in Chinese chives (Allium tuberosum Rottl.) cultivated in plastic film house. In this study, a physiography and chemical properties of 132 plastic film house soils were investigated to elucidate factors affecting tip burn symptom. Also influence of soil properties on tip burn was statistically determined by path analysis and association analysis including a chi-square test or logistics analysis. Probability distribution of inorganic aqueous species, such as ammonia (g) was calculated using MINTEQ program. Soil order and chemical properties, especially pH, exchangeable calcium and inorganic nitrogen, showed a significant relationship with tip burn of Chinese chives. Tip burn symptoms occur mainly in an alkaline soil classified as Alfisols. Result of linear regression and path analysis exhibited that formation of ammonia (g) from soil solution depend upon soil pH and were associated with ammonium resulting from soil organic matter or nitrate. These results indicate that tip burn symptom of Chinese chives is directly affected by ammonia gas originated from alkaline soil condition.

Cu and Zn can be accumulated in plastic film house soils by long-term application of livestock manure or compost. The mobility and bioavailability of Cu and Zn accumulated in soils are strongly influenced by their chemical or geochemical species in soils. In order to assess the accumulation, mobility, and bioavailability of Cu and Zn in plastic film house soils, we determined their geochemical species using a sequential extraction, grouped into three pods: the total pool, the potentially mobil pool, and the mobil pool. Total contents of Cu and Zn, ranged from 14.9 to 53.1 mg $kg^{-1}$ for Cu and from 55.4 to 169 mg $kg^{-1}$ for Zn, lied by far below the soil contamination standards, but exhibited little accumulation compared with their geogenic concentrations. Mobile contents of Cu and Zn and their percentage of total contents were strongly affected by soil pH in addition to total contents and soil organic matter. Mobile contents of Cu, ranged from <0.01 to 1.71 mg $kg^{-1}$, showed their minimum between pH 5.0 and 6.0 and increased above pH 6.0 to 8.0. In contrast, mobile contents of Zn, varied from <0.01 to 12.4 mg $kg^{-1}$, showed their minimum above pH 7.0 and increased strongly with decreasing pH below 5.5~6.0. Potentially mobile and total contents of Cu and Zn rose with ascending soil organic matter. To assess ecological and toxic effects of Cu and Zn in soils, mobile and potentially mobile contents, as bioavailable and potentially bioavailable pools, should be considered more important than total contents.

This experiment was carried out using artificial clay and LED in the plastic film house (irradiation time: 08:00~18:00/day). Seedlings (n = 63 per $3.3m^2$) of ginseng was planted on May 17, 2018. LED was combined with red and blue light in a 3:1 ratio and irradiated with different light intensity. The average air temperature from April to September was $12.3^{\circ}C$$-26.0^{\circ}C$ and it was the the highest at $26.0^{\circ}C$ in August. The test area where fluorescent lamp was irradiated tended to be somewhat higher than the LED irradiation area. The chemical properties of the test soil are as follows. pH levels was 5.3~5.5, EC levels 0.45~0.52 dS/m and OM levels 33~37%. The total nitrogen content was 0.35~0.47% and the available $P_2O_5$ contents was 13.7~16.0 mg/kg, which was lower than the suitable level of 70~200 mg/kg. Exchangeable cations K and Mg contents were within acceptable ranges, but the Ca contents was $28{\sim}38cmol^+/kg$ levels higher than the permissible level ($2{\sim}6cmol^+/kg$). Germination of ginseng leaves took 8~9 days and the overall germination rate was 70~75%. The photometric characteristics of LED light intensity are as follows. The greater the light intensity, the higher the PAR (Photosynthetic Action Radiation) value, illuminance and solar irradiation. Photosynthetic rate was also increased with higher light intensity was investigated at $1.7{\sim}3.2{\mu}mol\;CO_2/m^2/s$. Leaf temperature ($23.7{\sim}24.8^{\circ}C$) by light intensity was the same trend. The growth of aerial parts (plant height etc.) were generally excellent when irradiated with 3 times the light intensity, the growth of the ginseng aerial parts were excellent as follows. The plant height was 42.6 cm, stem length was 25.2 cm, leaf length was 9.6 cm and stem diameter was 5.0 mm. The growth of underground part (root length etc.) was the same, and the root length was 24.4 cm, the tap root length was 6.0 cm, diameter of taproot was 18.2 mm and the fresh root weight was 17.2 g. There were no disease incidence such as Alternaria blight, Gray mold and Anthracnose. Disease of Damping off occurred 2.2~3.6% and incidence ratio of rusty root ginseng was 14.6~20.7%. Leaf discoloration rate was 13.7~48.9% and increased with increasing light intensity. Ginsenoside content of ginseng by light intensity is under analysis.
