  • Melanin is a black pigment, responsible for hair and skin color. In order to find the melanin stimulatory technique which prove useful for a gray and a white hair-preventive agent or tanning agent, we developed atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ) and tested for tyrosinase activity and melanin production in melanoma (B16F10) cells in vitro. We found plasma dose dependent increase in melanin production. To explore the contributing mechanism in melanin synthesis, intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and MAP kinase signaling pathways were studied. Furthermore, the development of plasma technology for melanin synthesis and planning for in-vivo future studies will be discussed.

  • There is the urgent need of new human health care's technology against cancers or tumors based on plasma electronics, medicine and biology. Main target of our study is to enhance efficacy and selectivity of plasma on cancer cells with metabolic modifiers and by inducing immune-modulations. We have evaluated the combination effect of plasma with metabolic modifiers (2-DG) on various solid and liquid cancers. Our findings suggest that 2-DG enhances the efficacy and selectivity of plasma and induces apoptosis in blood cancer cells through glucose deprivation. Finally, we conclude that 2-DG with non-thermal plasma may be used as a combination treatment against cancer cells. Our work also comprises plasma induced activation of immune cells; which find applications for curing various kinds of resistant tumors and other dreadful diseases. Plasma significantly activates immune cells which increases cell death in solid tumors in co-culture conditions.

  • Plasma processing of semiconductor materials plays a dominant role in microelectronic technology. During last century, plasma have gone a way from laboratory phenomena to industrial applications due to intensive progress in both scientific and industrial trends. Improvement and development of new experience together with development of plasma theory and plasma diagnostics methods. A most parameters (pressure, flow rate, power density) and various levels of plasma system (energy distribution, volume gas chemistry, transport, heterogeneous effects) to understand the whole process mechanism. It will allow us to choose a correct ways for processes optimization.

  • Plasma concentrations of zinc and copper were measured in 59 non-pregnant women and 105 pregnant women(12 ; early pregant, 93 ; late pregnant) to estimate and compare both groups and to detect the effects of iron supplementation on the plasma zinc and copper concentrations in the pregant women. The mean plasma zinc concentration of the early pregnant group was not significantly different with those of the non-pregnant group. But in contrast, the mean plasma zinc concentration of the late pregnant group was significantly lower than those of the non-pregnant and early pregnant group. Mean plasma copper concentration were significantly elevated in ealry pregnant group and doubled in late pregnant compared to non-pregnant. In Fe supplemented group, mean plasma zinc concentrations were lower and mean plasma copper higher than those of Fe non-supplemented group. It appeared that Fe supplementation had effects on the decrease of plasma zinc concentrations in pregnancy.

  • The investigation regarding the ignition system of a plasma jet explored by using a constant volume vessel. The purpose of this study is to elucidate relation between the characteristics of the configuration and jet ejection of plasma jet plug, when the sub energy were supplied at plasma jet ignition system. From the results of a visualization by the schlieren system, the jut ejection for plasma jet ignition are depended on the jet plug configuration and sub energy, but the configuration of plasma jet plug is more influenced than the sub energy on the plasma jet ejection. And the plasma jet ignition strongly influences upon the combustion enhancement than the conventional spark ignition.

  • Nowadays, many configurations and applications of small atmospheric plasma source have been investigated with growing interest, as it provides the bacteria inactivation, the surface modification and removal of unwanted small regions, and so on. In this paper, the non-thermal micro plasma source under atmospheric pressure by means of submicrosecond pulse voltage waveforms is suggested. Plasma operates in helium is appears as a small (sub-mm) glow at the tip of a plasma gun. Electrical measurements show that the plasma source operates at low voltage (about 500V) and the power consumption is about 1W at 25kHz. Moreover, the emission spectrum shows the relatively higher emission intensity of oxygen particles than those of helium and nitrogen.

  • Plasma processing plays a significant role in semiconductor devices technology. Development of new plasma systems, such as high-density plasma reactors, required development of plasma theory to understand a whole process mechanism and to be able to explain and to predict processing results. A most important task in this way is to establish interconnections between input process parameters (working gas, pressure, flow rate, input power density) and various plasma subsystems (electron gas, volume and heterogeneous gas chemistry, transport), which are closely connected one with other. It will allow select optimal ways for processes optimization.

  • The characteristics plasma flow of an atmospheric plasma torch used for thermal plasma processing is studied. In general, it is produced by the arc-gas interactions between a cathode tip and an anode nozzle. The performance of non-transferred plasma torch is significantly dependent on jet flow characteristics out of the nozzle. In this work, the distribution of gas flow that goes out to the atmosphere through a plenum chamber and nozzle is analyzed to evaluate the performance of atmospheric plasma torch. Numerical analysis is carried out with various angles of an inlet flow which can create different swirl flow fields. Moreover, the size of plasma plume is experimentally depicted.

  • In this paper, flow characteristics of plasma flow in a micro-tube were investigated experimentally using Micro-PIV. For comparision, the experiments were repeated for DI-water instead of plasma. Both velocity profiles of Plasma and DI-water are well agreed with the theoretical velocity distribution of newtonian fluid. We also carried out generating plasma-in-oil droplet formation at a Y-junction microchannel. In order to clarify the hydrodynamic aspects involved in plasma droplet formation. Rhodamin B were mixed with plasma only for visualization of plasma droplet.
