  • The morphological characteristics of the Korean Scopolia japonica Maxim., commonly known as 'Mi-chi-gwang-i-pul' in Korean, were re-evaluated in comparison with results from previous research, while the distribution map was formulated according to existing flora and voucher specimens. The result of the re-evaluation has shown that there are some distinctive discrepancies compared to the previous reports of some characteristics such as the color of the basal stem, numbers of lateral veins, apex shape of calyx and corolla including the color of corolla. The Korean Scopolia japonica Maxim is found throughout Korea except Jeju-do province. The intra-specific species such as S. parviflora (Dunn.) Nakai, S. lutescens Y.N. Lee and S. kwangdokensis Y.N. Lee were treated as synonyms of S. japonica Maxim. in this research.

  • One species of the Duplachionaspis, D. divergens (Green, 1899) is newly recorded in the Korean fauna of armored scales (Diaspididae). The characters of this genus and species are here redescribed from Korean specimens. A key to species of Duplachionaspis from the East Palaearctic Region, photographs and information on the distribution and hosts of this species, are also provided.

  • The small punch test have been developed to evaluate the material strength of the power plant components. This small punch test specimen is very small than the conventional strength test specimens. Korea Electric Power Research Institute (KEPRI) have been applying this test to assess accurately the life of thermal power plant and enhancing the reliability. The small punch test for gas turbine blades is under development. It's possible to compare the relative strength among the same materials having different operation histories. In this paper, the strength reductions of gas turbine materials are investigated by the small punch tests. All materials shows the almost same strength and deformation with the allowable deviation. At the same test temperature, the damaged material has the maximum load value. The strength reduction is not shown in this small punch test results.

  • Fifty-six species in 36 genera of macrolichens are reported from the Zhongdian area, northwest Yunnan, China during the lichenological expedition for highland macrolichen survey in June, 2004. More than $60\%$ of these species have not been reported in South Korea. All of the 182 collected specimens are deposited in the Korean Lichen Research Institute (KoLRI) at Sunchon National University in Korea, and some of them are duplicated in the lichen herbarium, Cry to gamic Herbarium, Kunming Institute of Botany, Academia Sinica (KUN-L) in China. This is the first report on the macrolichen flora in the visited areas.

  • This study describes the effect of γ-ray irradiation on the properties of insulation materials for low voltage cables in a nuclear power plant. The radiation effects were characterized by measuring OIT, FTIR, electrical properties of the irradiated specimens. As a result, they showed the decrease of OIT and the increase of chemical structural defects with the increase of γ-ray amount. Also, the electrical properties such as dielectrical constant, tan $\delta$ and current were changed by aging. These changes may come from the increase of chemical structural defects by $\delta$-ray irradiation.

  • Two genera and two species of the family Erebidae, which is the largest family in Noctuoidea after recently redefined, are newly recorded in Korea: Luceria striata Galsworthy and Metachrostis sinevi Matov et Kononenko. In addition, supplementary collecting data are provided for the two species of Erebidae, Lophomilia nekrasovi Kononenko et Behounek and Acontia martjanovi (Tschetverikov), whose Korean distribution has been briefly reported. The female genitalia of Luceria striata are described for the first time. Photos of imagines and genitalia, where available, are provided. All the examined specimens are deposited in the Department of Plant Medicine, Chungbuk National University in Cheongju, Korea.

  • A new species of Corydalis sect. Corydalis (Fumariaceae), C. misandra B.U.Oh, is described from the provinces of Gyonggi-do and Gangwon-do in Korea. The new species is distinct from its close relative C. namdoensis in having elliptic or linear leaflet shape, entire or slightly dentate bract apex, broad and rhomboidal lower outer petal, 14 papillate stigma, oblong stamen and linear capsule with one rowed seeds, etc.

  • The specimens belonging to the family Biphyllidae were collected at Mt. Baekun-san (Nonsil and Hanjae), Jeollanam-do with Lindgren funnel traps from May to August, 2015. Through this study, we report seven species of the genus Biphyllus including three newly recorded species; B. aequalis (Reitter), B. flexuosus (Reitter) and B. kuzurius Sasaji. We herein present the key to the identification of species of the Korean Biphyllidae and illustrations of diagnostic characteristics of them.

  • We found the large narcissus fly, Merodon equestris (Fabricius), which has been doubted to occur in Korea. This species is an economically important in management of narcissus and also of quarantine pests. We therefore provide the morphological diagnosis and DNA barcode sequences for rapid species identification of M. equestris based on the five Korean specimens.
