IAA-Producing Penicillium sp. NICS01 Triggers Plant Growth and Suppresses Fusarium sp.-Induced Oxidative Stress in Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)

  • Application of rhizospheric fungi is an effective and environmentally friendly method of improving plant growth and controlling many plant diseases. The current study was aimed to identify phytohormone-producing fungi from soil, to understand their roles in sesame plant growth, and to control Fusarium disease. Three predominant fungi (PNF1, PNF2, and PNF3) isolated from the rhizospheric soil of peanut plants were screened for their growth-promoting efficiency on sesame seedlings. Among these isolates, PNF2 significantly increased the shoot length and fresh weight of seedlings compared with controls. Analysis of the fungal culture filtrate showed a higher concentration of indole acetic acid in PNF2 than in the other isolates. PNF2 was identified as Penicillium sp. on the basis of phylogenetic analysis of ITS sequence similarity. The in vitro biocontrol activity of Penicillium sp. against Fusarium sp. was exhibited by a 49% inhibition of mycelial growth in a dual culture bioassay and by hyphal injuries as observed by scanning electron microscopy. In addition, greenhouse experiments revealed that Fusarium inhibited growth in sesame plants by damaging lipid membranes and reducing protein content. Co-cultivation with Penicillium sp. mitigated Fusarium-induced oxidative stress in sesame plants by limiting membrane lipid peroxidation, and by increasing the protein concentration, levels of antioxidants such as total polyphenols, and peroxidase and polyphenoloxidase activities. Thus, our findings suggest that Penicillium sp. is a potent plant growth-promoting fungus that has the ability to ameliorate damage caused by Fusarium infection in sesame cultivation.

특허분석을 통한 오일샌드 플랜트 모듈화 기술 동향 연구 (Technology Trends of Oil-sands Plant Modularization using Patent Analysis)

  • 원유 생산의 정점이 예상되기 때문에 비전통 자원과 대체에너지에 대한 연구가 많이 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 비전통 자원 중 오일샌드에 한정하였고, 동토 지역은 건설 가능한 기간이 제한적이고 현지건설인력 확보가 쉽지 않으며, 공사기간을 단축시킬 수 있는 오일샌드 플랜트 모듈화에 대한 관심이 크기 때문에 특허를 통한 기술동향을 분석해 보았다. 특허 분석은 1994년-2015년 데이터를 이용하였고 한국, 미국, 일본, 유럽 및 캐나다 특허를 분석 대상으로 하였다. 기술분류체계로 노천채굴 기술, 지하회수법 기술, 분리/개질/환원물 기술, 모듈설계/패키징 기술, 모듈운송기술 및 소재/유지관리 기술 분야로 나누었고 이를 국가별 landscape, 세부기술 동향분석, 주요 경쟁사 심층분석을 하였다. 특허 분석결과, 오일샌드 플랜트 기술은 미국 및 캐나다에 89%의 특허가 집중 되어 출원되고 있었다. 주로 경쟁사로는 Shell, Suncor 그리고 Exxon-mobil로 각각의 핵심특허를 분석하였다. 오일샌드는 타유전개발과 달리 장기간 안정적 생산량 유지가 가능한 사업적 특성을 가지므로, 장기적 관점에서 특허를 확보하여 오일샌드 사업의 경쟁력을 확보하는 것이 중요할 것으로 분석된다.

  • Almost all rotating machinery has bearings. Bearing is one of the most important part of rotating machinery. Vibration of rotating machinery depend on its bearing conditions. Bearing conditions are followings ; oil gap, bearing type, bearing temperature, bearing oil condition. Especially, bearing oil condition influences on rotating machinery vibration directly. In this paper we have discussed the abnormal vibration of turbine due to oil condition. oil whip problem was occured in the certain power plant. and we had sloved this problem through the control of operating values and alignment.

꽃노랑총채벌레에 대한 Pennyroyal oil과 Spearmint oil의 훈증효과 (Fumigant Toxicity of Pennyroyal and Spearmint oils against Western Flower Thrips, Frankliniella occidentalis)

  • 꽃노랑총채벌레 성충에 대한 4종 식물정유(muguet flower, patchouli, pennyroyal, spearmint)의 훈증효과를 조사하였다. 그들 중 100%의 훈증효과를 나타낸 정유는 pennyroyal oil과 spearmint oil 이었다. 두 정유에 대한 주요 구성성분을 GC와 GC/MS로 분석한 결과, pennyroyal oil은 pulegone(100.0%), spearmint oil은 ${\beta}-myrcene(3.5%)$, limonene(12.1%), carvone(85.4%)이 주요 구성성분으로 나타났다. 이 성분의 훈증독성 시험결과 carvone과 pulegone은 $1{\mu}{\ell}/45m{\ell}$ air의 약량에서 100%의 높은 훈증독성을 나타내었다.

  • Recently orders of projects in the field of oil and gas plants have increased due to rising oil prices and consumption. The markets of oil and gas plants are expanding into the Middle East area and all over the world. Because the oil and gas markets have a lot of overseas construction operations, competition among advanced companies is more important. However, companies in the period of growth have not had enough competitive powers of license in the design phase. Therefore, they are faced with difficulty of adopting the technology which is maximizing the effect of investments, and scheduling of a long-range plan. In order to achieve adequate technology management and competitive power, this study considers a long-range plan through an analysis of an appropriate introduction and the strategic planning process of technology management.

머위 정유의 화학적 성분 분석 및 수확 연도에 따른 주요 화합물 함량 비교 (Analyses of the Chemical Composition of Petasites japonicus (S. et Z.) Maxim Essential Oil and Comparison of the Major Compounds by Crop Year)

  • This study investigated the chemical composition of Petasites japonicus (S. et Z.) Maxim essential oil. During the period 2011~2013, P. japonicus (S. et Z.) Maxim plant was investigated for composition of the essential oil. Chemical composition and characteristic compounds of the essential oils from the aerial parts of the plant according to the crop year studied. The essential oils consisted of sesquiterpene compounds, which were the most abundant components. Samples collected in 2011 were found to be richer in oxygenated sesquiterpenes, while samples collected in 2012 and 2013 were richer in diterpene alcohols and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons, respectively. Ninety-two compounds were identified in the P. japonicus (S. et Z.) Maxim essential oil of 2011, and caryophyllene oxide (20.49%), ${\beta}$-caryophyllene (10.28%), ${\beta}$-bisabolene (6.80%), and alloaromadendrene (6.50%) were the major compounds. Seventy-four compounds were identified in the plant essential oil of 2012, and phytol (17.22%), ${\alpha}$-farnesene (15.31%), ${\alpha}$-caryophyllene (9.93%), and ${\beta}$-caryophyllene (6.12%) were the major compounds. Ninety-two compounds were identified in the plant essential oil of 2013, and ${\alpha}$-farnesene (22.42%), ${\alpha}$-caryophyllene (21.49%), pentadecane (15.35%), and germacrene (5.70%) were the major compounds. The content of most of the chemical constituents varied significantly with different harvesting time. The content of ${\alpha}$-caryophyllene and caryophyllene oxide was increased significantly from 2011 to 2013. The content of ${\alpha}$-caryophyllene and isocaryophyllene was decreased significantly from 2011 to 2013.

산란계 사료에 첨가된 식물유지류가 난황의 콜레스테롤 농도 및 지방산 조성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Dietary Plant Oils on the Cholesterol Level and on the Composition of Fatty Acids in Hen Egg Yolks)

  • White Leghorn hens were fed a commercial formula feeds as a basal diet, which was supplemented with 3 types of plant oil safflower, evening primrose and pine seed, at the 10% level for 3 weeks. No significant changes was found between the basal diet and the oil feeding trials in the egg yolk cholesterol content, the laying rate, the egg weight, and the yolk weight, except the feed intake. In the fatty acid composition of the egg yolk lipid, however, the plant oil feedings to hens resulted in considerable increase of $C_{18:2}$ acid with a simultaneous decrease of $C_{18:2}$ acid ,and, consequently, followed by the improvement of balance with P /S and P /M /S ratio close to 1.0 and 1:1:1, which is known a desirable ratio for human health in lipid nutrition, respectively.

우지방을 카놀라유, 올리브유, 옥수수유 및 해바라기유로 대체한 햄버거 패티의 품질특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Replacing Tallow with Canola, Olive, Corn, and Sunflower Oils on the Quality Properties of Hamburger Patties)

  • 본 연구는 햄버거 패티 제조시 우지를 대체한 canola oil, olive oil, corn oil 및 sunflower oil 등의 식물성 유지와 결착 보조제로 egg white powder와 wheat fiber 를 첨가하여 품질 특성을 조사하였다. 식물성유를 첨가한 햄버거 패티는 일반적인 우지를 첨가한 패티보다 낮은 칼로리와 가열감량 및 직경감소율을 나타내었고, 물리적 측면 및 관능적 특성에서는 우지를 사용한 패티와 큰 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 지방산 조성 분석 결과, 우지를 사용한 패티에 비해 낮은 트랜스 지방산 함량과 낮은 포화지방산 함량을 나타내었다. 따라서 식물성유를 대체할 때 대두단백, egg white powder 및 wheat fiber를 일정량 혼합하여 첨가한다면, 트랜스 지방산의 함량을 낮추고, 많은 불포화 지방산의 함량이 높은 웰빙형 햄버거 패티의 개발이 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

경유오염 농경지의 톱밥 처리효과 (Effect of Sawdust Treatment at Oil Contaminated Soil)

  • 경유로 인한 농작물 피해를 줄이기 위한 방법으로 톱밥처리 효과를 구명하기 위하여 톱밥의 경유 흡착능과 시용 효과를 상탄(上炭(Muck)), 이탄(泥炭(Peat)) 및 PEAT SORB 등과 비교, 검토한 결과, 흡착제 종류별 경유 제거효율은 톱밥과 PEAT SORB가 토탄 및 이탄에 비해 높았다. 톱밥의 경유 제거효율은 경유에 대한 처리 비율이 1:2(w/v)이상일 때 97% 이상으로 높게 나타났으며, 흡착된 경유의 재용출은 거의 없었다. 경유오염 토양에서의 톱밥 처리효과는 분얼기에 $4,000L{\cdot}ha^{-1}$의 경유를 처리하고 흡착제를 처리하지 않은 구에서는 초장과 엽록소 함량이 대조구에 비해 감소한 반면 톱밥 처리구에서는 생육이 좋았다.

Biological Activities of the Essential Oil from Angelica acutiloba

  • Angelica acutiloba is one of the most intensively cultivated medicinal plants in Korea. The roots of this plant have been used as an important herbal drug, especially for the treatment of various female disorders, as the traditional therapy in Korea and other Asian countries. Consumption of its fresh leaves as a healthy vegetable has recently increased. In this study, essential oil fractions were extracted from the roots and leaves of this plant by steam distillation. Compositions of the two oils were compared by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The antibacterial activities of the essential oil were determined against three strains of Escherichia coli. DPPH radical scavenging and reducing power tests were performed to evaluateits antioxidant activities. The cytotoxic activities of the essential oil against a human breast and a uterine cancer cell line were estimated by MTT tests. Additionally, the morphological changes after treatment of the oil fraction were observed under a microscope. The essential oil fraction and its main components, Z-ligustilide and butylidene phthalide, inhibited the growth of three E. coli strains examined, with minimum inhibiting concentrations (MICs) ranging from 1.0 mg/ml to 8.0 mg/ml. Additionally, the essential oil fraction of A. acutiloba exhibited significant DPPH free radical scavenging activity and reducing power. Significant cytotoxic activities of the A. acutiloba essential oil were observed for human uterine (Hela) and breast (MCF-7) cancer cell lines.
