The most powerful energy resource in nature is solar energy which becomes directly converted to electric power in worldwide. Most of the photovoltaic power plants are commonly installed on sunny side of the ground. Thus the installation of photovoltaic power plant could produce an unexpected adverse effect by sacrificing the productivity from green field or forest. To avoid these adverse effect floating photovoltaic plant has been devised and installed on inland reservoir. The photovoltaic plant could utilize ignored water surface without sacrificing the productivity of the ground. Additionally the photovoltaic efficiency has been reenforced by the cooling effect induced by the circulating air flow from water surface. The floating photovoltaic plant could be furnished solar tracking ability by tilting the system operated with the aid of the ballast system. This report is provided to introduce the design of the floating structure with solar panel which furnished solar tracking ability with the aid of ballast system.

A plant factory is a facility that creates an artificial environment in a controlled space and produces plants systematically through automated facilities. However, automation in the cultivation process is insufficient compared to the internal environment control technology in plant factories. This causes the problem of an increase in operating costs due to the input of a large number of workers. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate economic feasibility by comparing before and after introducing automation in the cultivation process of plant factories. The target plant factory to be analyzed was selected, and the break-even point analysis method was used by comparing the cost required compared to the operating period. As a result, the break-even point was analyzed to be 3.4 years when automation was introduced into six processes for plant cultivation. Therefore, it can be judged that the introduction of automation is excellent in terms of economic feasibility when the target plant factory has been operated for more than 3.4 years. This study is expected to be used as basic data to analyze the economic feasibility of introducing automation in domestic and foreign plant factories.

In this study, improvements of university education are suggested so that university graduates can work in plant engineering industry without major retraining which is required in plant engineering companies. Before disposition of manpower to the plant engineering site, new recruits are retrained by the company for about 2~3 years, since university education is not sufficient and appropriate to handle plant engineering tasks. It is urgent to integrate into university education practical plant engineering that can be used effectively after graduation. In case of S2 University located in Seoul, it is enough to supplement interdisciplinary program to plant engineering subjects if proper texts are developed. To replace plant engineering education offered by the company with the university education, following measures should be taken. First, basic plant engineering should be taught for 15 hours. Second, education on design and drawings should be reinforced.

This study was conducted to analyze the planting structure and ecological characteristics of greon spaces on the grounds of e Dangjin steam power plant. To achieve these goals, we surveyed existing vegetation, plant community structure, Plant volume and growth rate. Based on e vegetation analysis, existing vegetation was classified into six types: herbaceous species $(70.54\%)$, evergreen coniferous trees $(21.17\%)$, deciduous broad-leaved trees $(5.10\%)$, deciduous coniferous trees $(1.47\%)$, shrubs $(0.12\%)$, and other types $(1.59\%)$. The coal storage, office, and playground areas were community is the natural forest area where a Pinus thunbergii / Pinus densiflora community is distributed in terms of vegetation structure, species diversity, plant volume, and growth rate. The artificial green spaces(near the coal storage, office, playground areas) had a single-layer structure. Species diversity indices of the artificial green areas were $0.1655\~0.4807$ compared to 0.8628 in the natural forest, which presented a good growth environment. Also, the plant volume in the artificial green space was lower than that of the natural green space. Therefore, it would be desirable to develope a multi-layer structure similar to that of the vegetation in the natural green space in order to improve the amount of plant volume. The plant-damage ratio of Pinus thunbergii was $52.48\%$ in the coal storage area, and $8.48\~ 11.52\%$, in the other survey areas. Also, the vitality of Pinus thunbergii was $15.45k{\Omega}$ in the coal storage areas, which indicates bad growing conditions. This suggests that soil characteristics and dust have a bad impact on growth. The investigation into deciduous tres' growth status showed that appropriate plants would be Albizzia julibrissin, Acer palmatum var. sanguineum, Acer palmatum, Malus spp., Prunus sargentii.
Blueberry red ringspot virus (BRRSV) and blueberry scorch virus (BlScV) are included in the quarantine virus list managed by the Korean Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency. A multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay with an internal control was developed for the simultaneous detection of both viruses. The specific primers used here were designed based on the highly conserved regions of the genomic sequences of each virus, obtained from the National Center for Biotechnology Information nucleotide databases. The primers were designed to amplify a partial sequence within coat protein (CP) for detecting BRRSV and a partial sequence within the CP-16 kDa for detecting BlScV. 18S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) was used as internal control, and the primer set used in a previous study was modified in this study for detecting 18S rRNA. Each conventional PCR using the BRRSV, BlScV, and 18S rRNA primers exhibited a sensitivity of approximately 1 fg plasmid DNA. The multiplex PCR assay using the BRRSV, BlScV, and 18S rRNA primers was effective in simultaneously detecting the two viruses and 18S rRNA with a sensitivity of 1 fg plasmid DNA, similar to that of conventional PCR assays. The multiplex PCR assay developed in this study was performed using 14 blueberry cultivars grown in South Korea. BRRSV and BlScV were not detected, but 18S rRNA was all detected in all the plants tested. Therefore, our optimized multiplex PCR assay could simultaneously detect the two viruses and 18S rRNA in field samples collected from South Korea in a time-efficient manner. This approach could be valuable in crop protection and plant quarantine management.
The degree to which parallel evolution utilizes the same genetic mechanisms indicates the degree to which developmental processes constrain or channel phenotypic evolution. A transgenetic strategy was used to elucidate the role of one floral meristem identity gene, LEAFY (LFY), in the evolution of rosette flowering, a plant architecture that has evolved in parallel in several lineages of the mustard family, Brassicaceae. The LFY genes from three rosette flowering species were cloned and introduced into a species with the ancestral architecture, and results indicated that changes at the LFY locus contributed to the evolution of rosette flowering in two of the three lineages, but that in each lineage a different set of genetic partners was involved. Also, LFY was shown to play a role in the evolution of flower size. Transgenetic strategy may be useful in the study of plant morphological evolution and parallelism.

Inflorescence architecture mainly contributes to final grain yield in crops. Sorghum inflorescence is basically composed of one fertile sessile spikelet (SS) and two infertile pedicellate spikelets (PS). To identify regulatory factors involved in the inflorescence architecture, we screened an EMS mutagenesis population from the pedigreed sorghum mutant library. We found inflorescent architecture mutants, named as multi-seed mutants, msd, with gained fertile ability in PS and also an increased number of floral branches. In natural sorghum populations, it is not common that are fertile. A detailed dissection of developmental stages of wild type and msd1 mutant described that the PS in wild type do not have floral organs, including ovary, stigma, filament and anther, while the msd1 mutants generate intact floral organ in the sessile spikelet. We found MSD1 encoded a TCP transcription factor using bulk segregant analysis (BSA) of F2 population, and was a strongly enriched expression during inflorescence developmental stages. We proposed that MSD1 functions to suppress floral organ maintenance at PS during inflorescence development in Sorghum. To explore the regulatory network associated with PS fertility, whole genome expression profiling was performed at 4 different developmental stages in 6 various tissue types between wild type and msd1. Taken together, we demonstrated that MSD1 was involved in the plant hormone and maybe influenced program cell death in PS via the activation of plant hormonal pathway.
The purpose of this study was to conduct phenology monitoring of forest plant species in Mt. JuWang National Park, thereby establish long-term prediction and management system for species susceptible to climate change, and utilize the result as basic materials necessary for conservation of plant genetic resources in accordance with changes in their growth environment. Global Positioning System coordinates were marked on each indicator species and a specific number ticket was provided to each plant. Changes in their blooming time, time of blossoms falling, time of leaves bursting into life, and time of leaves turning, and time of leaves falling were recorded. Investigation was made once per week from April 10 in 2010 to November 30 in 2011 except for the time period between July and August when investigation was made biweekly. The investigated plants concerned 12 kinds-nine species of trees and three kinds of herbs. According to the result of the penology monitoring of Mt. JuWang National Park, their time of leaves bursting into life, time of leaves turning, and time of leaves falling were largely earlier in 2011 than in 2010. However, it is hard to say that it is due to the factor of climate change. Long-term collection of climate data and continuous monitoring of plant phenology are considered necessary in order to examine correlation between climate change and seasonal change patterns of plants.
