  • Nowadays, ultrasound Doppler imaging is widely used in assessing cardiovascular functions in the human body. However, a major drawback of ultrasonic Doppler methods is that they can provide information on blood flow velocity along the ultrasound beam propagation direction only. Thus, the blood flow velocity is estimated differently depending on the angle between the ultrasound beam and the flow direction. In order to overcome this limitation, there have been many researches devoted to estimating both axial and lateral velocities. The purpose of this article is to survey various two-dimensional velocity estimation methods in the context of Doppler imaging. Some velocity vector estimation methods can also be applied to determine tissue motion as required in elastography. The discussion is mainly concerned with the case of estimating a two-dimensional in-plane velocity vector involving the axial and lateral directions.

  • Steel girder web panels have been subjected in recent decades, to a number of experimental and numerical studies but the mechanisms that regulate the behaviour of the panels composed by two subpanels with different thickness were not deeply studied. Furthermore specific design rules regarding the estimation of the buckling coefficient for panels with variable thickness are not included in the codes even if this is a common situation particularly for steel bridge girders with beams having significant height. In this framework, this work aims to investigate buckling behaviour of steel beams with webs composed of panels with different thicknesses subjected to both in-plane axial compression and bending moment and gives some simplified equations for the estimation of the buckling coefficient.

  • Maintenance and improvement of the graph connectivity is very important for decentralized multi-agent systems. Although the CBBA (Consensus-Based Bundle Algorithm) guarantees suboptimal performance and bounded convergence time, it is only valid for connected graphs. In this study, we apply a decentralized estimation procedure that allows each agent to track the algebraic connectivity of a time-varying graph. Based on this estimation, we design a decentralized gradient controller to maintain the graph connectivity while agents are traveling to perform assigned tasks. Simulation result for fully-actuated first-order agents that move in a 2-D plane are presented.

  • In this paper, a new lateral offset estimation method, based on image processing techniques, is proposed for driver assistant system. A new description on lane markings in the image plane is presented, and its properties are discussed and used to detect lane markings. Multi-frame lane detection and analysis are adopted to improve the proposed lateral control method. An algorithm for obstacle detection is also developed. Experimental results show that the proposed method performs lateral control effectively.

  • The measures of leverage in linear regression has been extended to nonlinear regression models. We consider several curvature measures of nonlinearity in an estimation situation. The relationship between measures of leverage and statistical curvature are explored in nonlinear regression models. The circumstances under which the Jacobian leverage reduces to a tangent plane leverage are discussed in connection with the effective residual curvature of the nonlinear model.

  • This System is developed for the estimation of the Camera Lens Resolution. Signal data proportional to light intensity is obtained and sampled from the 2D CCD. Based on the measured signal. the MTF charateristcs of a camera lens are measured. We could measure the sagittal and tangential MTF in the on and off-axis at the same time. The automatic measurig methods for optimal image plane, magnification, and best marginal direction of test lens are presented.

  • Despite many combined research efforts outstanding needs exist to develop robust safety-estimation methods for large complex structures. This paper presents a practical damage identification scheme which can be applied to truss structures using only limited modal responses. firstly a theory of pattern recognition (PR) is described. Secondly existing damage-detection algorithms are outlined and a newly-derived algorithms for truss structures. Finally the feasibility of the proposed scheme is evaluated using numerical examples of plane truss structures.
