친수성섬유보강 시멘트복합체의 소성수축균열제어 특성 (Plastic shrinkage Cracking of Hydrophilic Fiber Reinforced Cement Composites)

  • Plastic shrinkage cracking occurs at the exposed surfaces of freshly placed concrete due to consolidation of the concrete mass and rapid evaporation of water from the surface. This so-called shrinkage cracking is a major concern for concrete, especially for flat structural such as pavement, slabs for industrial factories and walls. This study has been performed to obtain the plastic shrinkage properties of hydrophilic fiber reinforced mortar and concrete. The results of tests of the hydrophilic fibers were compared with plain and polypropylene fibers. Test results indicated that hydrophilic poly vinylalcohol fiber reinforcement showed an ability to reduce the total crack area and maximum crack width significantly (as compared to plain and polypropylene fiber reinforcement).

콘크리트 파괴거동특성에 대한 실험적 연구II-직접인장시험 (Experimental Study on Failure Behavior of Plain Concrete - Direct Tension Test)

  • The large-scale direct tension tests of plain concrete were performed and then the complete load-CMOD(crack mouth opening displacement) curves with a stable postpeak descending part were presented. Two independently controlled actuators were used to ensure a homogeneous increasing of CMOD in both notches of a specimen and to avoid secondary flexural stresses. It was compared the fracture energies from the test results with them from a classical prediction equation by Bazant and Oh (983), The results are indicated that the fracture energies from these large-scale direct tensile tests are large as 1.5-2 times on average against them from the Bazants prediction equation. But the tensile strength for large-size specimens was about half of the values determined from the splitting tensile strength tests for 10 by 20mm cylindrical specimens due to size effect.

콩기름을 사용한 고강도 콘크리트의 자기수축 특성 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Reduction of Autogenous Shrinkage of Hgh-Strength Concrete using Bean Oil)

  • The purpose of this study is to reduce autogenous shrinkage of high-strength concrete. Previous studies were investigated to measure the effects of reductions to autogenous shrinkage when applying bean oil to concrete. The results of the study showed that as the mixture rate of BO increased, fluidity decreased and air quantity decreased slightly. In early age, compressed strength increased compared to Plain while decreased in long-term age. As an autogenous shrinkage characteristic, reduction effect increased according to increase in mixture rate. When mixture rate is 1%, approximately 30% decreased compared to Plain in BO. At 2%, BO decreased by about 32%. In addition, in the case of BO, autogenous shrinkage was shown to decrease compared to expansive additive and shrinkage-reducing agent.

  • This study evaluated the crack reduction characteristics of concrete by type of fiber reinforced concrete. As a result of the experiment, it was shown that the fluidity decreased due to the mixing of the fiber reinforcing material. The higher the amount of fiber reinforced material used, the higher the decrease in fluidity. It was confirmed that the tensile strength was improved by the mixing of the fiber reinforcing material. The selection of fiber reinforcement has a great influence on the crack reduction effect.

Experimental Investigation of Chloride Ion Penetration and Reinforcement Corrosion in Reinforced Concrete Member

  • This paper represents the experimental investigation of chloride penetration into plain concretes and reinforced concretes. The main objective of this work is to study the main influencing parameters affecting corrosion of steel in concrete. Plain cement concrete and reinforced cement concrete with different water-cement ratios and different cover depth were subjected to ponding test. Ponding of specimens were done for different periods into 10% NaCl solution. Depth of penetration of chloride solution into specimens was measured after ponding. Specimens were crushed and reinforcements were washed using $HNO_3$ solution and weight loss due to corrosion was calculated accordingly. There was a linear relationship between depth of penetration and water-cement ratio. It was also observed that, corrosion of reinforcing steel increases with chloride ponding period and with water-cement ratio. Corrosion of steel in concrete can be minimized by providing good quality concrete and sufficient concrete cover over the reinforcing bars. Water-cement ratio has to be low enough to slow down the penetration of chloride salts into concrete.

광물질 혼화재 종류에 따른 초고강도 콘크리트의 공학적 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Engineering Properties of Ultra-High Strength Concrete according to Types of Mineral Admixtures)

  • In this study, the experiment was carried out to investigate and analyze the strenth properties and flowability of ultra-high strength concrete accroding to types of mineral admixtures. The main experimental variables were water/binder ratio 25.0, 27.5 and 30.0$\%$, water content 155, 160, 165, and 170kg/$m^{3}$ and mineral admixtures such as fly ash, silica fume and meta kaolin. According to the test results, the principle conclusions are summarized as follows. 1) In case of using admixtures, superplasticizer amount need more than plain concrete. 2) According to kinds of admixtures, the viscosity of concrete show much difference. 3) The compressive strength of concrete that use admixtures becomes low in early-age strength, but appeared by higher than plain concrete in long-term strength. 4) Meta kaolin is excellent in side but has viscosity enlargement efficiency a little. But, problem estimates that is not to make design strength 600 and 700kgf/$cm^{2}$ if use mixing condition with water-binder ratio properly.

Comparative study of flexural stress estimation methods in concrete pavement considering tied concrete shoulder

  • In this study, compared two distinct estimation methods (stress charts and regression equations) proposed by the Indian road congress design guideline (IRC:58-2015) to determine flexural stress in Jointed Plain Concrete Pavement (JPCP). The occurrence of critical flexural stresses in pavement slabs is due to the combined effects of wheel loads and temperature. These stresses depend on various factors such as material properties of concrete, soil-subgrade strength, loading, and geometric properties of the slab. In order to account for the practical variability of these factors, critical edge stresses are determined using both methods and compared considering tied concrete shoulder. IRC:58 (2015) suggests, the stresses calculated by both the procedures should provide the same results. However, when these stresses are compared for the same configurations and same loading conditions, large variations are observed. The effect of tied concrete shoulder on reduction in critical edge stress is observed. Based on the study, certain important conclusions and recommendations are presented.

Prediction of residual mechanical behavior of heat-exposed LWAC short column: a NLFE model

  • A NLFE model was proposed to investigate the mechanical behavior of short columns, cast using plain or fibrous lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC), and subjected to elevated temperatures of up to $700^{\circ}C$. The model was validated, before its predictions were extended to study the effect of other variables, not studied experimentally. The three-dimensional NLFE model was developed using ANSYS software and involved rational simulation of thermal mechanical behavior of plain and fibrous LWAC as well as longitudinal and lateral steel reinforcement. The prediction from the NLFE model of columns' mechanical behavior, as represented by the stress-strain diagram and its characteristics, compared well with the experimental results. The predictions of the proposed models, considering wide range of lateral reinforcement ratios, confirmed the behaviors observed experimentally and stipulated the importance of steel confinement in preserving post-heating mechanical properties of plain and fibrous LWAC columns, being subjected to high temperature.

내구성개선제를 적용한 콘크리트의 수축-염해저항성 및 현장 적용특성 평가 (An Evaluation on the Field Application and Resistance for the Shrinkage-Chloride Attack of Concrete containing High Durability Additivee)

  • 본 연구에서는 콘크리트의 염해저항성 및 수축을 저감하는 액상형태의 유무기 화합물로 구성된 내구성개선제(HD)를 개발하고, 이를 슬래그를 사용하는 기존 해안 콘크리트 배합에 적용(결합재 중량의 0.6%, 1.2%)하여 콘크리트의 수축 및 염해저항성을 평가하였다. 내구성개선제를 적용한 결과 염해 및 수축저항성은 이를 적용하지 않은 콘크리트(Plain)에 비해 각각 50%, 33% 개선되는 것으로 나타났으며, 이러한 효과는 HD를 0.6% 적용한 해안가 RCD 구조물에 적용한 현장배합을 통해서도 확인할 수 있었다.

  • The purpose of this study is to raise the strength of concrete with admixture. The natural zeolites and mud stone, abundant in this country, were used as admixture for high-strengthening of concrete. Proper workability was gained by using the superplasticizer. The optimum replacement ratio of zeolite mud stone was 10% on unit -cement amount. At these optimum replacement ratio, the strength development over the plain concrete was 34% for zeolite and 16% for mud stone. Through this study, we concluded the natural zeolite and mud stone were adequate admixture for the high-strengthening of concrete.
